RESOURCES AND TOOLS FOR WORKING WITH YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS October 13, 2022 - December 1, 2022 This seven-week course is designed for community workers and program implementers working with young women to enhance their active citizenship. In this course you will learn overarching frameworks, approaches, and tools for engaging young women leaders as change agents on gender equality, ongoing learning, health rights, and economic agency. This course will be cofacilitated by young women professionals, drawing on their real-life experiences in developing leadership of girls and young women. You will culminate your learning in the development of a step-by-step proposal for how you will work with young women in your own community.

In this course, you will:
As a participant, you can expect to spend 8 hours per week, over seven weeks.
• Explore frameworks, approaches, and tools used in programs designed to develop young women’s leadership. • Identify actions/programs that both have positive and negative results with respect to girls and young women’s leadership for social change. These actions and/or programs can focus on gender norm changes, increased learning opportunities for girls and young women, health rights, and economic agency. • Practice using tools developed to engage young women as experts in their lives and those of their community members. • Explore differing perspectives on young women’s abilities to realize change. • Develop a proposal for developing young women’s leadership in communities.
Personal Benefits: By the end of this course, you will be able to: • Use frameworks, resources, practices, and approaches to develop young women’s leadership in their own communities. • Describe types of young women leaders and what they may seek from participation in a program (segmentation and market offerings). • Assess strategies for program engagement of young women leaders. • Categorize strengths and areas for improvements in case study programs meant to develop young women’s skills and citizenship in their communities.

Online Learning Experience As a blended model of delivery, you will have the opportunity to engage in learning activities through asynchronous discussion forums (Moodle), and also through live discussions (Zoom). Each week, participants you will engage online in small and whole group forums on your own schedule. Once per week, there will be a one-hour live session in Blackboard Collaborate where participants will gather for a real-time, facilitated discussion with peers and the course facilitators. If unable to attend the live session, you will be expected to download the recording and engage in follow-up conversation on the session topic in the asynchronous forum before the end of the week. As a course participant, you are expected to engage with your peers in the online space at least two or three times per week, and to complete course assignments on time. Course readings can also be downloaded to read offline.
