Create a Literacy team - two full time Learning Assistants.

The team will deliver a systematic phonics programme targeting 4-7 year olds. To ensure that in reading all children regardless of age, gender, background are achieving a reading age of no less than 6 months below their chronological age. Ensuring all learners can access all aspects of the curriculum.

What will be better as a result?

Develop a partnership with a secondary maths teacher. The secondary teacher will work in partnership with the school numeracy leader, Headteacher and a targeted class to develop a shared understanding of effective maths and numeracy pedagogy with a particular focus on embedding spaced pedagogy in maths and numeracy in session 2017/2018.

This targeted approach to numeracy, will provide differentiated support to our school and identified targeted learners. We will use evidence and data to analyse improvements for these learners across the cluster and to shape future interventions. Employment of an additional class teacher one day a week and an additional LA for 10 hours.

They will work with targeted pupils to develop literacy skills by providing one to one and small group support where appropriate. They will also work with our Learning Assistants to build capacity in tutoring pupils. The additional teacher will also provide support for families through the ‘Busy Bee’ Learning Hub and sharing the learning events.

Pupils will be able to access the Learning Hub to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence in aspects of Literacy. The aim is to provide additional opportunities out with the school day for our learners to access resources and staff to improve their attainment in Literacy.
