Last winter’s El Niño may not have lived up to its billing as a drought-busting weather event (although the surf sure was good), but little sister La Niña of 2017 is bringing plenty of the blessed wet stuff (and some nice waves to boot). Anne Whittaker and her pal Oliver, in full compliance with the leash law, took advantage of a break between fronts on a recent evening to stroll the golden-hued sands of Carpinteria. With a forecast for up to six inches of rain between today and early next week, the two might look for their rain slickers on their next few walks.
