Randy Wilson of Carpinteria gets high five encouragement from his brother as he strides toward the swim-to-bike transition of the 2016 Carpinteria Triathlon on Sept. 25. Wilson finished the Olympic course in 2:52:19, good for third place in the 30-34 year age division. He and hundreds of others swam, biked and ran their way through Carpinteria last Sunday to test their athletic mettle and raise funds for the City of Carpinteria’s youth aquatics programs. For more photos of local friends and neighbors who rose to the challenge, see pages 14 and 15.
