ROSANA SWING

On Friday, July 14 the Carpinteria Junior Lifeguards exhibited their endurance, strength and skill at the annual Carpinteria Competition. The Carp Comp brings hundreds of athletes from all along the California coastline to compete in feats like paddles, swims and games. The athletes raced up the city beach and swam through the water on the overcast day, but a little fog is no match for the Carp junior guards. Here, Luke Nahookaika-Anderson of the A boys team sets off through the sand in the flags arena, racing to capture the prize and advance to the next round. Nahookaika-Anderson ultimately finished in sixth.
