So many reasons to be thankful As we move into this holiday season, the Cobb EMC family wants to take a few minutes to reflect on what we’re thankful for this year. We’re thankful that... Your family saves money by receiving electricity from Georgia’s second most affordable EMC. Members saved an estimated $13 million through six credits in the Wholesale Power Adjustment (WPA) for the months of June, July, August, September, October and November. We were named EMC of the Year by Georgia EMC for unprecedented generosity and service. Members helped reach a milestone of $1 million donated to nonprofit organizations through Operation Round Up®.

World’s best linemen Cobb EMC linemen beat out nearly 1,000 of their colleagues from around the world to win the World Championship title at the 32nd Annual International Lineman’s Rodeo, an event that tests linemen’s skills under poor conditions. This is the fourth time Cobb EMC employees won the top award! Their unmatched skill, safety and speed proved exemplary as they won through a combination of top scores and best times, bringing home numerous awards. Find photos of all the action on our Facebook page! Pictured right: Cobb EMC’s 2015 International Lineman’s Rodeo participants pose in front of our co-op’s rodeo trailer.

Office hours Our offices will be closed Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 in observance of Thanksgiving. Employees are always standing by for emergencies. Please call our automated outage system at 770-429-2100 in the event of an outage.

It’s easy being with COOPERATIVE SOLAR.

Capture your share of the sun. The new Cobb EMC Cooperative Solar program eliminates the expense and hassle of purchasing, installing and maintaining your own solar energy system. Members may buy up to six solar energy blocks for $25 each, per month. The solar kilowatt-hours produced each month offset the same amount of consumed kilowatt-hours on your bill. You will receive a credit for any excess solar power produced. Unlock the power of the sun. Explore the sunny side of Cobb EMC, visit www.cobbemc.com/coopsolar or email cooperativesolar@cobbemc.com

Your spare change makes a difference!

Cook up energy savings For many of us, the best holidays involve home-cooked meals and wonderful aromas of turkey, stuffing and baked goods wafting throughout the house. It means a busy kitchen and a bustling house full of family and friends. If this rings true for you, despite the increased kitchen activity, you still have an opportunity to save energy during the holidays. For side dishes, consider using a small appliance such as a crock pot. Small appliances are a smart, energy-saving alternative, typically using about half the energy of a stove.

Find these energy-efficient crock pot recipes for Thanksgiving side dishes on our Pinterest! www.pinterest.com/cobbemc

Through Operation Round Up®, our members have contributed more than $1,200,000 to charities in our community. www.cobbemc.com/roundup

Stay safe this holiday season The holidays are upon us. That means more celebrations with friends and family, travel, decorations, cooking and shopping. Cobb EMC wants you to stay safe during the holidays, so here are a few tips to consider as you gear up for the season:

Lighting Check lights for broken or cracked sockets, frayed or bare wires and loose connections. Use no more than three standard-size sets of lights per single extension cord.

Ladder When putting up holiday decorations, always use the proper step stool or ladder to reach high places. Don’t stand on chairs, desks or other furniture.

Food When preparing a holiday meal wash hands, utensils, sink and anything else that has come in contact with raw poultry. Keep in mind that a stuffed bird takes longer to cook.

Vehicle Prepare your car for the winter by checking items such as the brakes, spark plugs, battery and tires. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended interval for a tune-up.
