FUERTEVENTURA

DON’T MISS!! The Island of LOS LOBOS The paradisiacal island of Los Lobos is a mere ten minutes away by ferry from Corralejo. The waters here are teeming with fish and is said to have some of the best diving and deep sea fishing in Europe. Combine your visit with a quick walk up the island’s highest peak the Caldera de la Montana.

The Jewel of the Canaries...

Fuerteventura is actual the second-biggest of the Canaries with a relatively diverse landscape ranging from rugged volcanic cliffs in the West, to its lush green interior and miles of award winning beaches to the East. Life’s A Beach Famous for its sensational coastline, which stretches for more than 193 km / 120 miles, Fuerteventura is home to more than 150 beaches, many of which are perfect for an array of water sports, often being lined with numerous cafés, bars and beachfront hotels. The islands unique origins and location, less than 100kms from the Sahara, have been instrumental in giving Fuerteventura its desert, almost lunar-like landscape. The prevailing easterly winds, blowing in from

the Sahara have brought in all the fine white sand that makes up the spectacular beaches and sand dunes that the island is so famous for. Blessed with the longest stretches of sand in the Canaries Fuerteventura really is a beach lovers paradise – no surprise that the island was selected for the prestigious Quality Coast International Certification award last year. From the hardcore windsurfing beaches in the north to the quieter, more secluded ones in the south. The choice is most definitely yours. ot somewhere you would naturally happen upon, the charms of this hidden gem have recently come to the attention of the world once again as the iconic Royal Liverpool Golf Course played host to the Open Golf Championships for the second

time in eight years. With a host of attractions, some fourteen golf courses and over fifty miles of rural walks on its doorstep, its hardly surprising that Wirral is home to some of the region’s most well heeled inhabitants, all taking advantage of its buzzing food and drink offering, cool arts scene and of course its proximity to the iconic cities of Liverpool and Chester. My Childhood Holidays Like many fellow ‘scousers’, most of my early holiday memories are of happy caravan holidays in North Wales – Rhyl in particular. The whole family would decamp up to the coast in summer holidays for a week filled with sandcastles, ice-creams and arcades. Being born and bred in Kirby, Rhyl seemed quite exotic back then and only actually went abroad for the first time at the age of nineteen!

My Ultimate Destination

My Top UK Destination Earlier this year we needed to get away for a bit of a tune out – the kids fancied camping but with our hectic lifestyles and busy schedules it was hard to find the time to get it organised. I then managed to find an absolutely amazing ‘Glamping’ experience down in Hay-0n-Wye in Powys. It’s run by a fantastic young couple who have created a magical glamping experience – the kids were just enchanted. We stayed in luxury tents, some with four poster beds and I even managed to rustle up some pretty special dishes for the clan over an open fire. I can’t recommend it enough. www.cosyundercanvas.co.uk

In 2013 I was lucky enough to finally marry my long term partner Sarah in an idyllic beach front wedding at the fabulous Sugar Beach Resort in Mauritius. We took all the kids and a few close friends and the resort was just perfect for the whole family.
