IMPORTANT ORIENTATION INSTRUCTIONS • All times and locations shown are subject to change. Upon check in you will receive an updated version of this schedule. • When going through the New-Student Orientation schedule, be aware of events with a GOLD HEADING. These events are required. • Identify your College Adjustment Peer (CAP) and meet them on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the location assigned on the chart found on the third page of this schedule. • If an event is repeated, you only need to attend one of the arranged times for that event. Review the schedule and plan to attend the session with the fewest conflicts. • If you have not registered for classes, you may meet with your advisor during Orientation to plan your class schedule prior to registration. Before you meet with your advisor you must participate in the following (in no particular order): • • •
Music Theory Placement Test (if applicable). Music Audition (if applicable, by appointment). Foreign Language Placement (if applicable).
USING THE ORIENTATION SCHEDULE ATHLETIC PRACTICES
Be sure to check with your coach to verify the time and location of all athletic practices. If a conflict arises between a practice and a required Orientation event, you should always attend the required Orientation event.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE PLACEMENT
Have you had Spanish or French in high school and want to find your appropriate level at Coe? If you haven't already completed our language placement test, be sure to do so online so we can send you placement instructions before your first advising appointment.
MUSIC AUDITIONS
Music Department ensembles are open to all Coe students. Your Orientation folder will include an audition time if you signed up in advance. You may also sign up for or confirm an appointment in the Music Office (Marquis Hall 103) during Orientation. The music ensemble appointments include: • Opportunity to meet and talk with the ensemble directors. • Opportunity to demonstrate playing or singing skills. • Opportunity to learn more about ensemble participation at Coe.

IDENTIFICATION CARDS (ID) All students must obtain a Coe identification card. The Coe identification card also serves as access to the residence halls. If you did not submit a picture this summer, please visit the Student Life Office in Upper Gage after picking up your residence hall keys. Cards are free of charge the first time. If your card is lost or damaged, a replacement costs $35. Students must carry their ID cards with them and present them to the host at each meal in The “U.” DO NOT PUT A HOLE IN THE CARD.
