FILE THE FAFSA

File the FAFSA to be considered for financial aid. The online form is anticipated to be available December 1, 2024. Add Coe to your list of schools when you fill out your FAFSA. You’ll be considered for state and federal grants, loans and college work-study.

Terms to Know

Direct Cost: The cost of education expenses billed by a college (tuition, room and board).

Student Aid Index (SAI): The SAI is an eligibility index number that a college’s fnancial aid ofce uses to determine how much federal student aid the student would receive if the student attended the school. This number results from the information that the student provides in their FAFSA form. To calculate a SAI, a need-based analysis is conducted. The analysis takes into account the income and assets of the student and their parents or spouse, if applicable.

The analysis formula used considers both taxed and untaxed income, as well as any assets and benefts received, such as unemployment or Social Security.

Note: Your SAI is not the amount of money your family will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of federal student aid you will receive. It is a number used by the college to calculate the amount of federal student aid you are eligible to receive.

Grants: Awards that do not need to be repaid. They are often need-based and vary in dollar amount.

Financial Aid Ofer: Once you fle, Coe typically receives your FAFSA results within two weeks. Within 10 days after that, we will mail your fnancial aid ofer to you.

Scholarships: Academically strong students or those with a particular skill or talent may qualify for renewable scholarships that do not need to be paid back.

Work-Study: Federal and Coe work-study awards are valued at $1,300 and $1,800 per year (six to eight hours per week) and provide a job on or near campus.
