QUOTE OF THE MONTH "I have admired the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since my student years through wonderful concerts and recordings; I also had the privilege to witness very closely the work of these great musicians with the late Carlo Maria Giulini. Some years later, when I first stood among them to make music, we immediately felt a very unique connection. The artistry, enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge of these musicians have no boundaries. Every single moment with the COE counts amongst the most treasurable in my life as a musician. I am looking f orward to many more moments like these." Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Conductor

SEPTEMBER TOUR: PINNOCK - PIRES

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe performed a series of concerts between 23rd and 30th September, with conductor Trevor Pinnock, pianist Maria João Pires and violinist Lorenza Borrani (leader of the COE) at the Opéra de Dijon, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Cité de la musique in Paris and the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The repertoire included Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-Dur, Symphony No. 26 and Rondo for violin and orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Ouvertüre zum Märchen von der schönen Melusine and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished”. The concerts were all extremely well attended and received. According to the Dijon newspaper Le Bien Public, the most beautiful element of this concert, apart from the fantastic repertoire, was the joy, pleasure and feeling of perfect harmony that the orchestra managed to communicate to their audience. Maria João Pires and Trevor Pinnock delighted their audience by playing two piano duets by Mozart as encores to the first half and the Orchestra performed the Finale of Schubert’s third symphony as an encore to the second half of the concert. The concert can be viewed on arte live web at http://tiny.cc/5j3khhixaq.

TUTTI MAGAZINE On 11th September, the COE’s first oboe François Leleux was interviewed by Tutti Magazine, a ’webzine’ specialised in the critic of classical music and opera CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays. Subsequently, an article on the Chamber Orchestra of Europe was published, accompanied by a review of the Jurowski/ Grimaud DVD released last month. The article and both reviews are available at http://tutti-magazine.fr/news/page/ Interview_Francois-Leleux-fr/.
