Shannon Brewing Company Opening in Keller The City of Keller is welcoming its first brewery to town this month! Shannon Brewing Company celebrated its official grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. A craft brewery that prides itself on its use of all-natural ingredients, the facility at 818 N. Main St. sits atop Samantha Springs, utilizing the filtered spring water of that 30-year-old Keller operation. Shannon Brewing Company features a menu of fire-brewed beers, including a pale ale, India pale ale, all-American blonde, chocolate stout and Irish red. Seasonal brews are also in the works. Beer enthusiasts are invited to enjoy the brewery’s taproom and beer garden from 4-8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and stop by for tours, noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Sales Tax Revenue Increases Keller Economic Development is excited to report that data released this month by the Texas Comptroller’s Office showed an increase of $44,561 — or about 6.3 percent — in the city’s September sales tax rebate when compared to September 2013. The fiscal year to date, through September 2014, has exceeded the originally adopted budgeted amount by $348,303 — or 3.8 percent — and represents an increase of about $459,567 compared to the same period last year, a 5 percent bump. An increase in retail and dining options over the past several years and the city’s shop local campaign, Keep It In Keller, continue to help residents spend their money within the city limits; Keller is now on track to achieve a third consecutive year of record-breaking sales tax revenue.
