Description
His parents gave him the name Jesus. But the prophets, the shepherds, the wise men, and angels addressed him by other names. They called him Lord, Messiah, Savior, Emmanuel, Light of the World, and Word Made Flesh. In Incarnation, best-selling author Adam Hamilton explores the meaning of these titles and what they tell us about the child whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. Coming in September.
How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him? Join Adam Hamilton this Lent and Easter and discover five essential spiritual practices rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God. In each chapter, you will explore one of these practices— each of which is intended to be a part of our daily walk with Christ—its New Testament foundation, and its potential effect on our personal lives and our lives together as the church.
Simon Peter was an ordinary fisherman who heard an extraordinary call. He was not rich or educated, but was familiar with hard work. He was quick-tempered and impetuous, but possessed a passion that would change the world. He left everything to follow his teacher, yet struggled with doubt and fear. Join pastor and author Adam Hamilton in this six-week Lenten journey, and take an in-depth dive into the life, faith, and character of Simon Peter.
Join award-winning author Adam Hamilton as he travels from Egypt to Mt. Sinai, the Nile, the Red Sea, and the wilderness as he explores the sites of Moses’ life. As Hamilton shares historical information, archaeological data, and biblical text, you’ll gain a better understanding of Moses’ significance in your life today, and you’ll discover how you, too, can turn your reluctance into boldness.
Adam Hamilton believes that powerful answers to many of our complicated questions are contained in the Apostles’ Creed, an early statement of foundational Christian beliefs. In Creed, he explores not only what Christians believe, but also why they believe, and why it matters, which in turn leads readers to confront and examine their own core beliefs and go beyond reciting the Creed’s familiar words.

Description
What must it have been like to hear Jesus deliver the Sermon on the Mount? What did his words mean to people in the crowd and how did it change their lives? What do his words mean to us today and how do they change our lives? Did his listeners interpret the sermon as we do now? In this 6-week study based on Matthew 5–7, Dr. Amy-Jill Levine explores the major topics in the most popular sermon ever delivered, using a solid knowledge of Hebrew Scriptures and moral teachings. Coming in August.
The writings of C. S. Lewis inspired friends Bishop Rueben P. Job, Perry Bramlett, and Norman Shawchuck to create a spiritual reader pairing quotes from the beloved author with their own unique contemplations. After their deaths, their work was recovered, and the thirty original, unpublished devotions are now available in 30 Meditations on the Writings of C. S. Lewis. Begin each day with a short quote from Lewis followed by reflections from Job, Bramlett, or Shawchuck on topics of grief, joy, fear, loss, salvation, and love. Beautifully designed and thoughtfully written, this book is the perfect gift for the C. S. Lewis fan in your life.
Welcoming guests as they enter your church and offering them free cups of coffee are fine practices…but not very compelling. The Art of Hospitality offers step-by-step actions that will help create a culture of radical hospitality in every area of your church—from pastors to staff to lay leaders and volunteers. Loaded with key principles and methods honed by hospitality experts Debi Nixon and Yvonne Gentile in their work at The Church of the Resurrection, this program is designed to permeate your entire church with common language around the ministry of welcome, hospitality, visitor care, outreach connections, and membership.
Perhaps there is no better time than now for us to study gratitude and grace. Author and New Testament scholar David deSilva traces these themes through the book of Hebrews, helping us to see the connection between God’s grace in our lives and the gratitude we can express for our salvation when we answer the call to invest ourselves in God’s mission in the world. In Hebrews: Grace and Gratitude, deSilva helps us discover a bold perspective on the meaning and significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection in light of the Old Testament, allowing us to hear afresh God’s call to a life of faithfulness.
The Acts of the Apostles is a unique and crucial book that chronicles the story of God’s grace flooding out to the world through the lives of the apostles in the decades immediately following Christ’s ascension into heaven. Acts: Catching up with the Spirit provides a broad yet theologically attuned introduction to this important book and its story of the early church learning to bear witness about God’s salvation through Jesus Christ. Explores six key themes that illustrate the ways in which reading Acts is capable of igniting our imagination about the character of the Christian message, the work of God’s people (the church), and the challenges of living faithfully in a complex and changing world.

Description
There is a lot of talk these days about “the good life.” It’s not a new topic—the Book of Proverbs talked about just that. Its sayings and bits of wisdom were collected to make the lives of people just like us run a little more smoothly. Proverbs: Pathways to Wisdom explores the biblical book’s well-known verses and prevalent themes in a manner that offers various interpretations, opening the way for us to see how they apply to our modern world. You’ll learn about the authorship, genre, and historical setting for each of these verses, which will broaden your understanding and bring more meaning to familiar passages. Coming in July.
1 Corinthians is basically a letter Paul wrote to a people who were trying a wild new social experiment known as a Christian community. Centuries later, our churches deal with many of the same issues Paul addresses: factions, sexual immorality, gender issues, money concerns, theological questions, lawsuits, problems in worship, and problems in leadership. In 1 Corinthians: Searching the Depths of God, Jaime Clark-Soles explores these topics and the awe-inspiring, breathtaking world of the first-century church. In this six-week study, you will learn to look at 1 Corinthians from a variety of viewpoints and apply its lessons to your own faith. Coming in January.
Jesus taught his disciples to love neighbor first as a way to more deeply love God. In his exploration of Jesus’ teaching and travels with his disciples, Tom Berlin suggests that Jesus teaches us how to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength by showing us how to love our neighbor. While many hope to learn to be better family, friends, leaders, and neighbors by finding a deeper relationship with God, what if becoming a better neighbor leads you to that deeper love of God? In this study, you’ll how loving the people around you will completely renew your faith and give you a new experience of loving God.
Samuel, Esther, Jonah…they all lived pretty ordinary lives…until they didn’t. In Called, author Susan Robb shows us how God interrupts the lives of ordinary men and women, calling and empowering them to lives of service they never would have imagined on their own. And she shows us that the same God who called six of the Bible’s most iconic characters calls us, too, to bring hope and transformation to the world. Discover how to hear and respond to the unique call God is placing on your life in this six-week study. Additional components include a DVD and a comprehensive Leader Guide.
Jesus knew how to tell a story. He knew that in order to get his message across he needed to relate to the people who gathered to listen—first century Jews—who lived in a very different world than the one in which we live today. In Short Stories by Jesus, author Amy-Jill Levine takes you back in time and explains how original audiences understood Jesus’ parables. You’ll learn how new interpretations of the parables continue to challenge and provoke contemporary readers two thousand years later. In addition to the book, a Participant Guide, Leader Guide, and DVD are available for this six-week study.

Money…is it good or is it bad? Saving Grace: A Guide to Financial Well-Being, a six-part study based on Wesleyan values, helps you address the topics of saving, earning, giving, spending, and debt.
We are born in the image of a loving and generous God; we are born to be generous. In this 4-week group study, those seeking to live a more generous life will be exposed to and inspired by cultural, generational, and family attitudes towards generosity.
Money has great power. Used wisely, it can help us accomplish our goals, provide for our needs, and fulfill our life purpose. In recent years, many of us found ourselves spending tomorrow’s money today. The result was not greater satisfaction and happiness, but greater stress and anxiety.
Offers structure and tools to ensure that the stewardship message consistently reaches all church members, built on Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations by Robert Schnase.
This twenty-first century translation of Wesley’s money management philosophy will give everyone in your congregation— adults, as well as children and teenagers—a new way to think about money, not only during your stewardship program, but for the rest of their lives.

Description
Salvation through grace. This was a central theme of John Wesley’s life and work. The Wesleyan Journey explores his understanding of the Holy Spirit’s transformational work in the life of a believer and invites readers to spend time every day exploring salvation through prayer, study, and reflection. Based on Wesley’s theology and the Bible’s teaching on what it means to be saved, this eight-week study will help readers consider anew God’s ever-present grace; the experience of acceptance, pardon, and forgiveness; and the lifelong journey to become more Christ-like.
The Wesley Covenant Prayer has been used in Methodist services around the world on the first Sunday of the year since John Wesley introduced it in 1755. Wesley expected that people would pray this prayer as a way of remembering, renewing, and surrendering themselves in complete trust to God. In The Wesley Prayer Challenge, author Chris Folmsbee invites readers to consider words from the Wesley Covenant Prayer each day for three weeks while reflecting on their meaning in the context of the larger piece.
The Wesley Challenge introduces young adults to our denomination’s father in a practical and accessible way through twenty-one questions studied over three weeks. This series is, in fact, a great way for your entire church to renew its passion and discover a deeper commitment to God—one that is more authentic, vulnerable, and soul-shaping—right along with your young adults. Daily posts and messages are designed with an emphasis on graphics and short content bits to engage your physical, emotional, and spiritual lives throughout the 21-day study.
In 1741, John Wesley preached his famous sermon titled “The Almost Christian” in which he encouraged people to follow Christ wholeheartedly. We should not be satisfied with being almost Christian but rather strive towards being altogether a Christian. In Almost Christmas: A Wesleyan Advent Experience, author and pastor Magrey deVega leads a group of authors to explore how we can make the same commitment to Christ during Advent, connecting our Wesleyan heritage with the traditional Advent themes of Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace.
Prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness…this is what we commit to when we become members of The United Methodist Church, and it’s a big step. But A Disciple’s Path helps us look beyond membership, presenting an engaging approach to discipleship from a distinctly Wesleyan perspective. Discipleship is ongoing, so the 6-week study is perfect for new-member groups, but also works well in small groups of long-time members. It helps you develop spiritual practices, discover your unique gifts, and engage in ministry that brings transformation to your own life and to the lives of others and the world.
