STEPS & COSTS FOR BECOMING A REALTOR IN TENNESSEE

Below are the steps and costs to become a Realtor in Tennessee, regardless of which company you choose to affiliate with:

Prior to taking the National and State Exam:

60-hour Pre-license course (Parts A & B)

30-hour Course for New Affiliates

Next, choose a firm to affiliate with, then:

• Applying for your real estate license (after passing the exam):

Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance

TREC application fee*

Be sure to have a copy of your HS or College diploma

*It typically takes approximately 10 days for TREC to approve your license and mail it back to your firm.

Once you get your license and join a firm:

Realtracs (MLS)

Association dues*

(every two years, prorated) $42/month $667 (approx.)

*You may choose any association of which your new principle broker is a member. Each area has several associations (GNAR, MTAR, WCAR, EMTAR, SAR etc.)

Joining an association is the point at which you become a REALTOR.
