My Parakeet
05
My name is Tomas and when I was 9 years old, my parents gave me a parakeet. I've always liked parakeets. I'd been longing one for a long time and finally got it. It was very small and colorful, I called him Pepe Lucho and he was always flying around the house because we didn’t want to keep him in a cage.
06
One day, my parents, my sister Loren and I were watching TV and saw that an enormous storm was approaching our town, so we had to close the windows and locked ourselves in the basement. Unfortunately, my young sister forgot to put Pepe Lucho in his cage and nobody realized until I was about to take his cage with me. I told my mom Pepe Lucho escaped, because I saw one of his feathers near the open window. My dad told me we had to go to the basement, otherwise we were going to be caught in the storm if we looked for Pepe Lucho.
07
I didn’t want to lose Pepe Lucho, so when I had the chance, I escaped from my house and searched for Pepe Lucho. I called him a lot of times but I still couldn’t find him. The rain was getting heavier and heavier and I couldn’t find Pepe Lucho. I was losing hope and was about to cry, when I saw one of his green feathers near a tree. He was there, lying below a sunflower. I took him and ran to my house before the lightning started to strike. My dad was mad at me for escaping from the house, but happily I found Pepe Lucho just in the nick of time. In fact, we had a very lucky escape.
