Woah! Did you see that? Atalaya now has it’s own newspaper! How did that happen? Well, we’re here to tell you all about it. Basically, we’ll be covering topics like sports, anecdotes, interviews with teachers/ students, school trips, art/music, events and we’ll include some pastimes too, like crosswords and riddles.

So, you’re probably asking yourself: who could be so selfless as to volunteer to write a newspaper? Well, the newspaper team will be formed by 19 students from 4°ESO A & 4°ESO B.

Students and competitions Here at Atalaya School, students take very seriously their healthy lifestyle, and some of them even compete on a professional level. We have talked to just a few of many students who are currently achieving in their competitions. The practice sports such as skiing, judo, football or golf.

Valentina is a golf player who plays in Villa Padierna golf club, Estepona, she is -0.4 hcp, one of the best players in Spain and internationally. She already won lots of competitions and she is looking forward to get on tour, and one day, be the best player in the world.

Mauricio is a professional skier who is training hard because he wants to become the best skier in the world. He

take very seriously their “ Students healthy lifestyle, some of them even compete on a professional level. ” At the moment, they are the second of the league because the team won three matches, draw one and lost one. Dani is one of the best goalkeepers in the league with 2 matches played and 0 goals scored.

If he continues to work this hard, he is going to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Lisa is a judoka that is working hard to become one of the best in the world . She does judo in Estepona. In the last competition she won the gold medal defeating one of the best judokas in Ireland. We can surely say that we have a young talent in judo in our school.

Atalaya’s Anecdotes!

PAL PROGRAM

We were in a P.E. lesson when Samuel, our English teacher came to choose a few of us and took us to do an activity in the main hall. We didn’t know why we were there but we soon found out that it was because the school had decided to try out an activity to help foreign students with the languages taught in the school and also to meet new people. It was an enjoyable experience.

SO MUCH DRAMA!

Yesterday during the English lesson instead of having a normal class we did an activity to see how students feel in the school and we realized that some people feel excluded from the groups of friends that are in the same year. Today, during the Latin lesson, we talked about why people feel bad and we've come to the conclusion that there is too much drama and problems and that people give importance to very stupid things. interesting that way because if the man just gives a speech you could get distracted easily but if he makes you participate in what he is explaining you would pay loads more attention, even if you don't understand the language properly you can still learn because of the examples he is giving with you or your friends.

In the museum there were 3 rooms, in the first one there were experiments with electricity, in the second room they did a physics experiment with a sand box and in the third room was a Luella.

As you all know, Antonio is one of the newest acquisitions at school, so we have talked to him to get to know him a little bit better and to ask him the questions you all want to know the answer to. Here’s what he said: When did you start working in the school?

Maths in 4th of ESO and Economy in 4th of ESO and 1st of Bachillerato.

Yes, I use math on each problem that comes to me in my daily routine.

Do you suffer by seeing a student suffer?

Yes, I emphasize a lot with the students that suffer.

Yes, but only if he deserves it.

If you would have to chose another job, which one would you chose?

Detective, because I would still have to solve problems.

In our Arts class we did a lot of projects, like drawing a picture and painting it with non realistic colors, learning about the color wheel and making one!

At the moment we are doing a new project about making our own folder to fit our masterpieces in and make sure they are not damaged or anything harmful happens to them.

For the newest project we are using thick cardboard from a box and we are cutting out rectangles bigger than an A3 piece of paper. We then do a plan about how we are going to do the folder, like the pictures we might draw, the words we might put on it, the color we would paint it and
