UNDOKAI: A FAMOUS JAPANESE EVENT by Miguel Silveira, Bruna Watanabe, Andrea Oliveira and Maria Clara Moura

"It was fun because there were games and the food was really good.", said Mr. Mauro, school staff.

Undokai is a Japanese festival for the families (mother’s day and father’s day). For ECCOS school, Undokai means a lot, as it is the relationship of ECCOS'S family with the students' family. It is one proposal for the Japanese culture. Flávia, the school's counselor said, “It is a very good event, everyone can play, the coexistence is really good in this kind of event. "Undokai happened on Saturday, August 31st at Associação Bunkyo São José dos Campos. The food that we eat at Undokai is kind of a dish for one person, it contains rice, fish

"I like because there were

or meat and boiled vegetables, pickles as side dish. Families

different games.", said Ana

Turetta, Year 6 student.

COLÉGIO ECCOS EMBRANCING ATYPICAL STUDENTS By Júlia Alves, Maria Clara Castro and Sophia Abreu Since 2010, Colégio ECCOS has been working to include atypical students in school and daily life routine. Having a special care with them, the school has Marisa Amancio and Angélica Bonanno, who are teachers that share love and help students to develop every day. The school accepts atypical students, not only to include them, but also to show us the perspective of world outside school, where no one thinks the same way and no one is the same person. “The school is a ‘little society’, everything you find here, you will find out of there”, said Julyanne Nakagawa, school head founder. Teacher Angelica Bonanno said, “Every advance they have is really different if you compare with children at their age; if they write their name is a huge step, little things are gratifying for us”. “It is a challenge every day, because every day our work is very different, we work according to the way students feel each day. We respect the situation of the day a lot”, said teacher Marisa Amancio. Having these students is important because they should have the opportunity to live a life like everyone else, but respecting their limits.

THE INTERESTING WORLD OF TUNISIA By Manuela Seixas, Pedro Rodrigues and Mariana Almeida

Ilef Ghanmi better known as Meghan was born in Tunis, Tunisia and moved to Brazil in 2018 and to São José dos Campos in July, 2019. She told some things about the culture of Tunisia. It is a beautiful place located in North Africa. In Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, there is a museum called Bardo, it has archaeological exhibits that includes from Roman mosaics to Islamic art, the Medina district's great mosque is home to some of the country's finest examples of religious architecture. “The food is very colorful and has a lot of spice, specially pepper” Ilef said. In Tunisia, people are cold and don't talk too much. The biggest difference between Brazil and Tunisia are the way people talk to each other. The food in Brazil has not so many colors and don't have so much spices. In Tunisia the weather follows the seasons, in Brazil the weather does not follow necessarily the seasons, they change a lot, in Tunisia is very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter.

WINTER GAMES: A GREAT CHAMPIONSHIP by Maria Luiza Romani, Miguel Sepulveda and Henrique Kenji

Winter Games is a competition base on lots of games. Students who won Winter Games matches won medals. Elementary students played on the competition, each class played different games. Year 2 students played "Gol ball", a game that blind people to play, the main objective is to throw the ball at the opponent’s goal. Year 3 students played "Queimada", a game where the main objective is to hit all opponents with a ball. Year 4 students played "Bandeirinha", a game where you need to capture the opponent’s flag, and year 5 students played “Adapted handball”, a game that is adapted to people with wheelchair, not many people in the school uses a wheelchair so people just sit in a wheelchair and play. The first Winter Games happened this year at ECCOS school. “We created Winter Games to promote students integration”, said Fabiano, P.E. teacher. Most students enjoyed Winter Games a lot and they have no suggestion to improve.

SAVE OUR OCEANS! By Paula Tamay, Patrick Thomas, Pedro Márcio Ramos and Maria Fernanda Fernandes The pollution of the ocean is a very common subject at school, Year 2 and 3 students went to a field trip to understand better about recycling. Year 2 students said, “We have to sort the trash and take care of our planet because the trash can cause illness, pollution of the ocean and the death of aquatic animals or land animals”. People are throwing trash, human waste, oil spill and more in the water. As a consequence, corals and animals are dying. And today the ocean is very polluted, dirty and not fit for use. A Year 2 student said, “Recycling is when you pick up the trash and transform it into something else”. Year 2, 3 and Full time students created some projects. For example: “Resta Ingesta”, it was created to reduce the organic waste of the school. Teacher Aline Matsushita, Biology teacher said, “if we do not preserve the world, every kind of life will die, including us, but Earth will keep existing” and she imagined the ocean in 2050 with a lot of plastic and without corals. Teacher Alana Turetta, Geography teacher, said, “The pollution of the ocean, the animals can eat plastic and probably die. The plastic can occupy areas where animals live. We do not have a lot of water in the world, but it's enough for us to survive, with pollution it would be lack of water”. Those were really good examples and signs that we have to save the ocean and the Earth. We are talking about this specific issue because water is one of the most necessary things that we need to survive, and of course without water we will all die. But not only us humans, all kind of animals will also die, insects and plants will die too, all living creatures that need water will die. We should care and respect our oceans. Everyone should do their share even if it is just a small act, it helps a lot.

NEW COUNTRY, NEW WORLD, NEW LIFE By Aline Duarte, Rafaela Watanabe and Francesca Avella Leaving your country is not easy for anyone, but the experience of living abroad can be exciting or not. When you are just travelling is easier, but when you need to live in another country, with another culture, type of food, different language and different people is hard. Normally students need to leave the country because their parents get a new job overseas or coming to Brazil to have other opportunities and to try something new. “It was interesting and funny” said year 6 student, Vitória Santos who lived in Sweden. People usually like the opportunity of travelling and living in another country. “I like to try new things.” said Ilef Ghannmhi Personally people love the charisma of people in Brazil, they like the food. But they think the seasons are very different , in other countries normally summer is in the middle of the year but here is in the end. Living in other country is a controversial subject, with a lot of different opinion. It is always an adventure, always in the dark without knowing what to expect.
