Well here we are at the 19th and last home game of the league season and the 36th game in total, jeez the time has just flown by!
We all just need to be focused upon the next 3 points and that’s today’s game and (hopefully) once that’s out of the way, we can turn to the next game. Our task is now really simple; 2 draws and 1 win will win us the league, but of course we will be trying for3 wins out of 3 to finish the season in style! It’s been a tremendous effort from the players so far and one which I am really proud of, but everyone connected to the club has been tremendous in their support. Thank you to everybody who has been to our home games this season – it really has been a pleasure
Our home record stands at P18 W 14 D2 L2 which represents an excellent 78% win ratio and one which we can all be proud of. Just two defeats to Bootle and Silsden with draws to Irlam and 1874 Northwich illustrate what a force we have been at home. The away game at Padiham was very much like the games at Runcorn Town and last week at Whitchurch Alport. All kinds of chances created, against teams that are strong and determined and a goalkeeper bang in form. The difference however was that we eventually found a way past Tony Aghayere in the Padiham goal to secure all 3 points late in the game. Today we will be facing a different stopper in the Padiham goal, but nevertheless we need to be at our best to secure all 3 points against what is always a disciplined and tough Padiham outfit. I’d like to welcome Shaun and all of his management, staff and supporters to today’s game. We’ve alwayshad a good relations off the field and today will be no different. We are now entering the home straight and can see the finish line to both the league season and the Macron Cup campaign just ahead of us. We can envision both of those magnificent trophies in our possession but there is also the possibility that we will end up with neither, which is simply not worth thinking about!!!

managers notes Good afternoon and welcome to our final home game of the season. We welcome Padiham who are managed by Adam Morning who I played against many times as a player and if his team are anything like he was as a player then we’ll be in for a tough game! With three league games to, 3 points clear and a cup final after beating Avro in the semi final we have put ourselves were we wanted to be come end of season fighting for honours and what will be an exciting finish to the season and hopefully one to remember. This club was set up by fans to be involved in moments like this and in our short history especially in the first season this club is known for players and fans to step up and come together when it matters to create scenes you rarely see at this level. That is why I first come to the club to be a part of moments like the club achieved in the treble winning season and now it is our time to step up and come together With it being our last home game and notes I’d like say a few thank you’s, firstly I’d like to thank my players as I took this job unexpectedly in pre season and only took it with the backing of the players they have been unbelievable and performed consistently well all season and deserve all the plaudits they get I couldn’t of asked anymore of them. 7
I’d like to thank my staff Dunney, Tom, Paddy and Craig for supporting me and all the hard work and hours they put in that know one see’s! The Chairman, Peter Furmo, Peter Manning, as a manager I couldn’t have wished for better support they have backed me, supported me with every decision and never said no to anything I’ve asked! The hours they also put in behind the scenes that know one see’s I honestly couldn’t thank them enough and they deserve all the success that comes there way. Lastly but certainly not least I’d like to say a massive thank you to the supporters for the support you have shown me but more importantly the players, you really are the heart beat of this club and everything what this club is about! Enjoy the last few games and turn out in your numbers and create and atmosphere you are known for to push these players to get the results we need, collectively and together let’s create another moment in this clubs history!

The outbreak of World War One curtailed Padiham Football Club`s involvement in active football altogether at the end of the 1915 - 1916 season, and the loss of their ground during the War meant that Padiham Football Club lay dormant until after the end of World War Two when they were reformed. The rebirth of Padiham Football Club came about in 1949 with the opening of the `Arbories` Memorial Sports Ground in Padiham on August 20th 1949 when 1,777 spectators turned up to see the Club`s opening Lancashire Combination fixture of the 1949 - 50 football season.
Padiham returned to the North West Counties Football League for the 2000/2001 season, winning the Premier Division Title in 2012/13 to gain promotion to the Northern Premier League, where they spent two seasons before being relegated back to the North West Counties Football League for the 2015/16 season. Since 1999 the club has spent in the region of ÂŁ600,000 upgrading their ground.
In 1982, Padiham Football Club became founder members of the North West Counties Football League, however in 1990 they left the league and joined the West Lancashire Football League where they played their 10

captains notes
Last home game of the season and we are in a great position to go and win this league and also the Macron cup, which will be nothing less than both us as a group of players and also the club and fans deserve. But we have a big challenge on our hands, with 3 games left we need two massive wins on Saturday and Monday to achieve what we set out to do all those months ago. We have been top of the league for nearly the whole season and we fully deserve to still be there, we have been on a great run and we were unlucky to drop points last week against a solid Whitchurch team. We had plenty of chances to win the game and on another day it could have been 4 or 5-1. But we know we have to keep going, and all we need to do is win and I know we have the quality and determination to do that. We have two massive games coming up starting with Padiham on Saturday, where 3 points is all that matters, which will take us into a cup final against Bootle on bank holiday Monday which we know if we avoid defeat the league will be ours.
It will be a great game with a big crowd but at the moment we can’t look past Padiham. It’s been a pleasure captaining this club this season, and I have enjoyed every second of it. My favourite moments over the season are probably Padiham away with the great scenes when Joe scored the winner, Runcorn at home early on when we blew them away and Chester away, even though the result didn’t go our way the scenes afterwards will stay with me forever. We are nearly there and we need a big crowd through the gate to help us over the line, as a group of players we want to thank everyone for the support this season, it has been unreal home and away and it’s an honour to play in front of you each week.

With the ongoing success of our football for everyone project and our brand-new walking football initiative we are starting to put the wheels in motion for our next scheme, Kits4Kids, a scheme which aims to provide children in the local area with the equipment and kit needed to participate in football. Families are struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their head never mind forking out £40/£50 for a pair of boots every year plus shin pads, kit etc, if you have more than one child you’re suddenly looking at spending a few hundred pounds, and that’s before any subs need paying. An analysis by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) reveals cuts to benefits and tax credits under the Tory government will see children hardest hit, forecasting that around one and a half million more under-18s will live in households below the relative poverty line by 2022. The research, which analyses the
impact of welfare reforms between 2010 and 2018, shows households with lone parents and children are set to lose an average of £5,250 – almost one-fifth of their total net income, compared to a loss of £3,000 for couples with children. This will see the child poverty rate for those in lone parent households increase from 37 per cent to over 62 per cent. These children are of great risk of being isolated and abandoned socially. The life skills learned through football help empower individuals and enhance mental wellbeing, such as increased resiliency, self-esteem and connections with others. These features of football are beneficial to people of all ages, but they are especially vital to the healthy development of young people. We must do more to increase engagement and encourage young people into football, not stand by while they are priced out of the game through no fault of their own.
