BE UTOPIAN We want to build new worlds where fiction is reality and games are new rules for democracy. If space is made by dynamics of exchange, then everybody can be the architects of our world and encourage creativity, reflexion and to renew social behaviours. EXPERIMENT Architecture can expand into a multidisciplinary game where everyone brings his own tools and knowledge to contribute to a collective piece. We do refuse to enter the current architectural practice which serve the building industry. We do deal with the reality of construction. We design, build and live our constructions and host the freedom for visitors to appropriate our projects. We produce an open source architecture that offer an access to basic public amenities and a place for exchange : A physical framework for a direct and immediate emulation between people and space. We wish to incite anyone to re appropriate and get involved with his own social and physical environment.

EXYZT wish to express and share its strategy to spark urban renewal wider in the world. Based on the idea that a community of users actively creating and inhabiting their urban environment is key to generating a vibrant city. We wish to militate for this strong political statement by working with existing situations to create conditions for vibrant points of community and cultural engagement. We propose to implement exceptional and temporary public structures to experiment in situ new models to inhabit and enhance public spaces and uses collectively. The run-up to each projects see the collective forming links with the local community and specific groups, providing them with a new place to hold events, share their work and ideas : Non institutional places where to imagine and test collectively new social behaviours.

Collectif EXYZT
Collective domicilited in Paris since 2003 EXYZT’s manifesto proclaims it as a ‘platform for multidisciplinary creation’ whose aim is to challenge the view of architecture as an independent field of practice. Instead, they embark on experimental living ventures built collectively. The collective conceive and organise each project as a playground in which cultural behaviours and shared stories relate, mix and mingle. Each project, always strive to involve different constituencies of the local community in a social network that is invited to inhabit a temporary space. EXYZT were last seen in Warsaw with the UFO project during the summer 2011 and in september 2010 with CITYISLAND, a temporary rainforest and its lagoon, contribution for “ La Noche En Blanco”, Madrid. Other projects were in London, 2009 the Dalston Mill contribution to the Barbican’s Radical Nature exhibition which was followed recently by the “Dalston Barn” in early 2010. Or the Southwark Lido, the Architecture Foundation commission for the 2008 London Festival of Architecture. And projects include Architecture du RAB, EXYZT’s first project of ‘architectural piracy’, as they refer to it, occupying a 335-metre-square abandoned plot near Parc de la Villette in Paris; LabiChampi, 2007, a micro urban farm in the abandoned Soviet military district of Karosta, Latvia, providing the neighborhood with an alternative resource, both of local food production and potential income; and the inhabitation and adaptation of the French Pavilion, the Metavilla for the 2006 Venice Biennale of Architecture.
