Four Generations of
High Fashion and Quality To keep that beautiful fur coat or jacket looking its best, there are certain things you need to know about its care and conditioning. You do not clean a fur coat just because it gets dirty. The number one concern with fur material is that the natural oils in the pelts will dry out. Once this happens the pelts become so brittle or tender that they will tear with incredible ease, rendering the garment useless. If you feel a fur and then rub your fingers you should be able to feel a very slight oiliness. This is normal. Dust, pollutants, and airborne particles are attracted to this and get caught in the hairs of the fur. They then act as a sponge drawing the natural oils out of the pelts. These particles also have an abrasive effect on the hairs of the fur that can wear on the natural shine over time, causing it to look old and tired. When you clean a fur your primary goal is to remove these materials from the hairs. That is why, it is important to have your fur cleaned by a professional like Elan Furs.
You can CLEAN and STORE your beautiful fur coat in a climate controlled storage on premises for only $75 (from March 2017 – February 2018).

Team Rehabilitation Indianapolis-Northwest What are your goals? Team Rehab is a therapist-owned network of physical therapy clinics that originated in Michigan and has expanded into Illinois and Indiana. The mission of each clinic is to provide the best outpatient physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy, and speech therapy in the region. Team Rehab is renowned for its clinics celebrating patients’ success stories, advanced training for all of the staff. Its highly qualified team of therapists offer the proper facilities and equipment and address patient concerns immediately. Writer // Janelle Morrison
U
rsula Booth, owner and physical therapy specialist at Team Rehab Indianapolis-Northwest, is an honors graduate from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where she was stationed while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Booth has more than 20 years of physical therapy experience. She works with doctors and specialists in several medical groups as part of her commitment to excellent documentation and open communication with physicians and patients.Booth opened her location near the Pyramids and I-465 on Indy’s northwest side in 2016. It was important for her to establish her clinic in the community where she lives. In addition to helping people get back on the track to good health, Booth is also a dedicated volunteer and serves as a Center Advisory Board Member for the Pike YMCA. “As a physical therapist, I want to do more than help people with their back, neck, knee (etc.) pain, I want to help them to discover their ultimate goals in regards to their health and what will motivate them to get back to living their lives pain and symptom free,” Booth emphasized. She pointed to a wall adorned with

statements, boldly painted, such as “What’s your goal?” and “I want to be healthy.” “I show them [the patients] this wall, and we discuss their personal goals and what it’s going to take to get them where they want to be and how to continue improving their health.
I encourage each of our patients and motivate them as their personal coach.” Booth is also certified as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) health coach. As a certified health coach, She assists people who are struggling with obstacles that have kept them from eating

better, moving more, and prioritizing their health. She creates a long-term plan so that they can continue their good habits and exercise routine after they have completed their rehabilitation therapy. The Team Rehab Northwest Indy clinic boasts a welcoming and energizing environment. Booth took great care in incorporating her branding and color scheme and creating a motivating atmosphere as opposed to a sterile one. She created treatment areas that can be sectioned off with curtains during treatments. A private treatment room is available for patients who require total privacy. She created the exercise stations area in a very open concept so that patients could exercise in front of their peers. The idea is that this social aspect of their therapy will allow them to see that they are not alone on their road to recovery. They become inspired and even more motivated when they see another patient physically achieving his or her goals. One of the therapies that Booth offers is functional dry needling; sometimes called trigger-point dry needling. This manual therapy technique uses a thin needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate trigger points in muscular and connective tissue. Recent medical research shows that dry needling can cause rapid reductions in pain and improvements in a range of motion. The researchers studied 17 patients. All patients’ neck pain began within seven days of the start of the study. Half of the patients received trigger point dry needling treatment, and the other half received no treatment. The patients who received the dry needling had better results. Immediately after the treatment, their pain decreased by 33 percent. One week after the treatment, their pain was 66 percent less. Also, those patients treated with dry needling were better able to bend their heads forward, backward, and toward the painful side of their necks. Therapists at Team Rehab are certified in a specialized form of therapy called Astym® (A-stim) treatment sets the standard for soft tissue therapy. It regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and removes unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. Astym® treatment has helped countless patients by restoring movement, getting rid of pain, and giving
Carmel_2017_Feb_TeamRehabAdvertorial.indd 2
patients’ lives back. Booth said many people suffering from pain do not know that they do not have to wait for a referral. The Indiana Direct Access Law passed in in 2013 permits patients to be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist for 24 calendar days without a referral from a physician or other provider. After 24 days, the PT must obtain a referral from another, authorized
provider to continue treatment. Booth cordially invites prospective patients to call for a complimentary 15-minute consultation to see if Team Rehab and physical therapy is the best option for their recovery and a healthier life. Other Team Rehab locations in Indiana are in Broad Ripple, Delphi, Avon, Fishers, Indianapolis-South, Indianapolis-Northeast and coming soon-Indianapolis-West.

Carmel is off to a running start in 2017 Writer // Janelle Morrison
As Carmel’s landscape continues to rapidly evolve, Mayor James Brainard and Director of Community Services Mike Hollibaugh offered a brief overview on the projects and the impact the projects will have on the transforming city.
I
t is exciting to see the city grow and change over time,” Hollibaugh said. “The new buildings and subdivisions in the works are an important part of the city’s plans including our master plan and fiscal plan. As the city evolves and our population matures, new residents in single-family subdivisions and apartment buildings contribute to the workforce and school system; they shop in our stores and eat in our restaurants.” The city of Carmel has a lot to offer company headquarters and potential investors who are interested in the redevelopment that is putting the city on the map for reasons other than its round-aabouts. “New office and new mixed-use buildings keep our business areas vital and competitive, and their contribution to the tax base helps keep our property taxes as some of the lowest in the state,” said Hollibaugh. “Carmel continues to market to the decision makers in the business world that are considering the city as the city’s projects, including Midtown and the Proscenium, are going very well,”
Mayor Brainard said. “The Proscenium project, located where the former Arby’s and Party Time Rental were located, will create more connectivity to the City Hall, City Center, Midtown and to Main Street. We are very excited about the redevelopment and new development that is taking place right now,” he said. The Proscenium, developed by Anderson Birkla, will boast a 236,017-sq. ft. upscale, apartment complex with 224 units, 60,000 sq. ft. of offices and 20,000 sq. ft. of retail spaces. This also includes a proposed parking structure with 449 spaces and a large area for public gathering. Brainard mentioned that the city continues to look at improving the local transportation system by studying the various methods of mass transit and its impact on the city’s core. “We continue to look at ways to improve the transportation system in downtown Carmel,” he said. “We continue to look at designs and at how to bring a mass transit system to our city. We are looking at the possibility of connecting a tram or street car system in the center part of the city to get people back and forth without having to use their per-
sonal vehicles. This will also reduce the demand with parking. We also continue to make our community a more walkable one, and with the Midtown project, walkability for all residents will be improved. It is important to implement this idea continue to raise the quality of life and make Carmel a more competitive city.” Brainard concluded, “As we approve development plans for each remaining prospective development, residential or commercial, it is important they are designed and completed appropriately for the sake of the existing neighborhoods and surrounding developments. We are looking forward to all that is coming in 2017.”
New office and new mixed-use buildings keep our business areas vital and competitive”

In 2013, Puthran was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award from the Carmel Clay Chamber of Commerce. This award motivated Puthran to encourage and recognize others who give back to the community. Bec Hunter won the Helping Hands Award in November 2015. Hunter organizes the annual IU Health North Hospital pumpkin patch event. Proceeds from the event are donated to Riley Hospital. “Sometimes, when you feel like what you do goes unnoticed or unappreciated...suddenly an unexpected surprise like this award reminds you that you must be doing something right to help benefit others,” says Hunter. “Thanks (to the award) for the boost that we all need from time to time to keep us interested in the work we do for others in our community.” Sylvia Kemp received the Helping Hands award in 2014 for her fundraising efforts with the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. “It made me realize that people pay attention and care. It shows that I am not alone,” says Kemp. She was diagnosed with MS 25 years ago and refers to herself as a “tenacious and dedicated fundraiser.” She and her MS team have raised $77,000 within the last year to stop the disease and find a cure. Kemp says that those diagnosed with MS can feel alone and hopes this award provides some hope for those battling the disease.

l-r Blake Head, vice president of product development and director of operations for iSALUS, and Michael Hall, iSALUS co-founder. Writer // Janelle Morrison
What if next time you visited the doctor’s office, your doctor discussed your symptoms while looking directly at you rather then with his/her back turned to you while inputting nearly the entire visit into a computer? Would you feel better served? What if health care providers could reach their patients from anywhere in the world? How many lives could be improved or saved? Many health care professionals are becoming increasingly frustrated by Electronic Health Records software that keeps them from spending more time communicating and caring for their patients.
D
r. Chuck Dietzen, co-Founder of iSALUS and chief medical officer and president of Timmy Global Health, and his co-founder, Michael Hall, find this unacceptable. They founded iSALUS Healthcare, which focuses on meeting the individual needs of each healthcare professional they serve. Dietzen and Hall, along with their team of talented programmers, have
developed thousands of templates in nearly every specialization. They have the technology to further customize their templates for any healthcare providers’ specific practice. iSALUS’s mission is to make healthcare providers’ lives easier while developing a mobile application that allows them to take their patient’s charts, view or upload images, finish charting, write prescriptions, and create superbills from anywhere in

Dietzen draws upon more than 25 years of healthcare experience to understand the working relationship between physicians, hospitals, patients and payers. Using this knowledge, he guides the development of OfficeEMR, iSALUS Healthcare’s web-based Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management solution, to ensure it meets industry

demands. “There is a very simple problem that needs to be solved,” Dietzen says. “How do we [health care providers] get to the child and how do we get the child to the care?” Blake Head, the vice president of product development and director of operations for iSALUS, has been with the organization since 2008. Head addressed some of the changes in the health care industry and how iSALUS’s software is designed to solve some of the current challenges. One of the pieces of the solution is telemedicine. Telemedicine in its most basic definition is “the remote diagnosis and treatment of patients by means of telecommunications technology.” “Our telemedicine software is going to allow providers and patients to contact and visit one another without being in the same physical location,” Head explained. “It looks and works a lot like FaceTime but it’s completely secured and built directly into our software. We worked our way through on the existing devices on the market and identified the pros and cons with all the various technologies. “If you look at Apple and Facetime, it works because it’s easy. We want our software to be user-friendly, and easy for both the provider and the patient without extensive training for either end-user. In the United States, approximately 90 percent of the adult popula-
tion has smart phones and replace them every couple of years so they’re keeping the technology base up-to-date, which eliminates the worry about having to replace obsolete technology or antiquated equipment,” he says. “With our software, we are communicating point-to-point, and we have developed our technology so that it cannot be intercepted. Being cloud-based and a small company, we can build and create a lot of cool technology. We had to make a highly configurable piece of software with encryption codes that met all the required regulations. We’re also not storing the data anywhere. So it’s not being recorded or saved anywhere, making the shared information highly secure.” Dietzen emphasized that colleagues enjoy interacting with one another, particularly in the health care industry, and especially with colleagues from all over the world. Nelson Chow, CEO of LIH Healthcare and an associate of Dietzen’s, recently travelled from China to Indianapolis to consult with Dietzen and his colleagues on matters such as the practice and development of telemedicine. Chow also took a tour of iSALUS and offered his thoughts on the importance to the world of this developing technology. “The great thing about what Nelson and LIH are doing [is] they are instituting a whole new type of medicine to China,”

Dietzen stated. “To be pioneers in this is exciting, and so he came here so that I could introduce him to some additional resources here in the U.S. and specifically here in Indianapolis.” He adds, “It’s about relationships and finding people that you want to work with and feel that have the right niche for what we, providers and developers, are doing.” Chow, a former electrical engineer who specialized in semiconductors and computer chips, developed LIH as a direct response to an arduous journey of trying to find proper care and therapy for his 9-year-old daughter, Olivia, who was born in China with Down Syndrome. Immediately following her birth in 2007, Chow realized that even just five minutes after her birth, the despair and hopelessness displayed by the nurses represented the culture in China that Chow realized had to change. Children with disabilities in China are cast away and hidden from society. They do not typically receive therapy or treatments that would otherwise improve the quality of their lives. Chow and his family came back to the U.S. where his previous company was headquartered and began to educate themselves on their daughter’s needs and what therapies were available to her. Fast forward to the present day. Chow’s company, LIH, has expanded into an influential organization that works

I speak their language. I believe iSALUS to be a dedicated group that is small and nimble enough to allow for ideas at any level to grow. Innovation comes from small groups such as these.”
He explains, “They are the right size for what they are doing now. The question is, is the technology robust enough for the need that exists for global telemedicine? For what iSALUS has developed and is offering, I see their size and dedication as being a big advantage. The mission parallels LIH’s mission in that we are looking for providing care and resources, not just for all of China but also universally. We simply cannot reach every corner of the world, and we need to be able to rely on technologies like Telemedicine to accomplish our missions.” For more information on iSALUS and its available software products, visit www.isalushealthcare.com.

Talks about the Legends of Yesterday and Tomorrow Writer // Janelle Morrison
The world bid farewell to a colossal list of iconic singers, songwriters, and entertainers in 2016 leaving a void in the hearts of their fans. The lives of these talented individuals were filled with challenges and unparalleled accomplishments that render them legends. The loss of so many inspiring people who not only entertained us in the best of times but comforted us with their songs, words, and on-screen presence, has left many feeling a sense of bewilderment. Who will fill the vacancies left behind? Who will tomorrow’s legends be?

Everything is a continuum; everything that exists today is in place because of something that came before...”
M
ichael Feinstein, the art director for The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana, was a friend to many of those legends, and he shared a few of his memories and his insights on cultivating the next generation of talented entertainers. Feinstein, a multi-platinum-selling, five-time Grammy Nominated recording artist, is an interpreter of, and an archivist for, the repertoire known as the Great American Songbook. The Great American Songbook is the canon of the most influential American songs from the early 20th century. The Songbook is comprised of standards by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and many more. At the Palladium, the magnificent 1,600seat concert hall, is a gallery dedicated to the Great American Songbook Initiative, which preserves the original compositions, recordings, and other memorabilia that serve as artifacts of the Songbook for current and future generations to enjoy
and study. Feinstein and his fellow board members that represent the Great American Songbook Foundation also support the Songbook Academy®, a summer music intensive for young singers who have an interest in the Songbook. The Songbook Academy celebrates the Golden Age of American popular music. This program is the only high school intensive in the country that is dedicated to the music of Broadway, Hollywood musicals, and the Tin Pan Alley era of the 1920s to the 1960s. “Everything is a continuum; everything that exists today is in place because of something that came before,” Feinstein said. “No one is more aware of that than I because of the work that I do with one foot in classic music and another in cultivating and discovering young talent. One of the things that is extraordinary is to see how music, by virtue of its DNA, is constantly reinventing itself and finds new creators and audiences that continue the evolution of music. The young people that I work with will take the Great Amer-

ican Songbook and make it their own. They will interpret the Songbook with their own individual voices and make it their own. That is why when someone passes, I feel that there’s always a legacy that is in place and will be around forever. He adds, “Even if someone’s name eventually becomes obscure, what they have accomplished still remains a fundamental part of the continuum. Being a collector of sheet music, I literally have thousands of pieces of sheet music, and you can see thousands of pieces in the collection in Carmel that have pictures of people on the covers from 100 years ago, that are completely unknown, yet there they are. The only thing that remains is their picture on their music. But they are a part of the heritage, and I always get a pang in my heart when I see these pictures. I wonder who they were and where they came from. I also feel a connection with them because it was their music that brought us together. Their music affects people in the same way that it did back then.” Feinstein continued, “Music always reflects the time in which it was created. It reflects the emotional and political pulse of the world. The world is in turmoil in many ways, not only politically with social causes, but also with technology. Abstract audiences and mass communication is very different than it was many years ago, and music is affected by all of that. The dissemination of music is very different than what it was. I think that it is harder for someone to become iconic in the way that artists like Prince, Elvis or Natalie Cole were.” Feinstein explained that now it is much harder for a single person to gain mass attention in the arts though there are

many extraordinarily gifted artists and voices. They are not necessarily heard in a mainstream way because that whole paradigm has shifted, just as sales of CDs and albums are no longer what they are because people download music. He strongly believes that talent will continue to assert itself and that the world will continue to see extraordinary talents become great musical souls, as they are born every day. He is not at all negative about the course and the future of music. Times of turmoil are when art becomes its finest, and he believes we are in a time where creativity will continue to blossom because of what is happening in our world. Feinstein reflected on a few of the icons that he knew as friends who passed this last year. “Florence Henderson was the most wonderful person,” he recalled. “She truly had the energy of an earth mother; that is why she was so beloved by so many people. She not only played a mother on television, but she did have that energy of a nurturing soul and made people feel good, protected and safe. I was in the south of France with Florence on
“It’s been a dream come true to see the growth of this organization, which was not possible without the affiliation with the City of Carmel...” vacation with a small group of friends. We were in a rural village, and people were recognizing her. They came up to her, and it was wonderful to see the way that she embraced them. She was genuinely happy to have her picture taken with them and to sign autographs. To me, that was the most wonderful lesson. Here she was on vacation, wanting to relax, and she could not have been more kind and willing to make people happy. She was also a great artist. She started as a singer and was a very gifted soprano. I not only remember her as a great human being and a talented actress, but she was also a great musician. Her death was certainly sudden. She was only sick for two days and the shock was immense. Florence was 82, but she seemed so much younger and certainly appeared younger.” Natalie Cole, the daughter of the late icon, Nat King Cole, also passed

in 2017 and was a close friend to Feinstein. “Natalie Cole was also a friend and a person that I adored,” he said. “She was a very guarded person. She had a protective shield that I think she needed to carry because she was a fragile human being. Natalie was a tremendous talent with a perfect pitch. She was one of the greatest musicians that I’ve ever heard. A part of her was sort of wounded in a way that I never quite understood. However, she was a very good person, and if you asked her to do something for charity, she was always the first to be there to help. She treasured her father’s legacy very much. One night she was at my house for dinner and there was some music playing in the background, on a rotation. Randomly, one of her father’s albums began to play. We were right in the middle of dinner and she looked up, smiled, and said ‘Hi, Dad.’ It

was so sweet. I was devastated when she passed. Natalie made her own mark with her work, and she was the true definition of a well-rounded musician. She is someone that I will miss forever.” Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher were also friends of Feinstein’s. He was better acquainted with Reynolds who offered him honest praise and criticism, no holds barred. “Debbie started out as a classical musician,” he said. “She played the bassoon in an orchestra before she became an actress. I was conducting the Pasadena Pops, and she came to one of my concerts. I asked her to critique me as a conductor, and she gave me amazing valuable feedback on my orchestral technique and on the movements with the baton. I really appreciated her candor and frankness and for not holding back on what she thought would make me better.” Feinstein switched gears and elaborated on how important it is to recognize and cultivate the talented voices of today who may become the legends of tomorrow. “It’s been a dream come true to see the growth of this organization, which was not possi-
ble without the affiliation with the City of Carmel,” Feinstein emphasized. “It never would’ve happened otherwise. It is the lifeblood of the community that gives us the support, in every sense of that word, to grow our mission. Our focus over the next couple of years, is to build a museum which, step-by-step, is becoming more of a reality. We are so excited to see how that is coming to fruition. The Great American Songbook museum will be a destination both physically and virtually for the city.
It will change the complexion of the community even more in a positive way. Just as Cleveland has the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame, and Nashville has the Country Music Hall of Fame, I think that it is going to be very significant for the city to have the Songbook museum located in Carmel. I say that from the response that I have received from people around the country and the world. They are so excited for the eventual creation and opening of the Great American Songbook museum.”

The modern digital age of celebrating Valentine’s Day leaves behind the traditional hand-made cards as was the English practice since the 19th century. In the latter half of the 20th century, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and roses became a safe standard of showing one’s affection for another person. The diamond industry capitalized on the trend of heart-shaped jewelry that was popular in the 1980s. At the turn of the millennium, the internet has made digital e-cards and gift cards popular replacements of the more traditional gifts of yesteryears. How do you celebrate your Valentine’s Day?
We asked a few familiar members of our communities to reveal some of their most treasured or comical memories of Valentine’s Days past. Here are their responses to our fun-spirited survey!
Nancy Heck, Director of Community Relations & Economic Development for City of Carmel:
Mayor Jim Brainard:
Q Who was your celebrity crush growing up? A I would have to say both Julie
Q Favorite Valentines Day Gift: A Richard, my husband of 35 years, always

We went to school together and were a ‘couple’ until 1975. Her family moved to Texas. She came to visit and wanted to take our relationship to the ‘next step’. I wasn’t ready for that. So, we were ‘waiting’. Meanwhile, I joined the military and was shipped out to Panama. I made a special trip to see her and her family in Texas and was ‘ready’. She found reasons to avoid me and I promptly received a ‘Dear Patrick’ letter while on station in Panama. Mr. Gary and Mrs. Gayle M. got married.

Ashley Ulbricht:
Q Chocolates or Champagne? A The City Attorney at City of Carmel prefers to celebrate her Valentine’s Day with Champagne!
Dennis Murphy, President and CEO of IU Health:
Mo Merhoff: President OneZone:
Q Best Valentine’s story? A We’d planned to be in the Rockies skiing over Valentine’s Day and booked an inn close to the ski resort where I’d been years ago. It was charming, cozy, away from the boisterous condos and had great food. The lobby was still as I’d remembered; however, the rest of the place not so much. The floors were slanted, the heat unreliable and the shower went from warm to ice cold in approximately two seconds. When we asked if that could be repaired, the inn staff said there was a hot tub behind the property we could use. We opted for the loud condos on day two.
Q Funniest Valentine Day memory? A My wife and I went out to eat at a very small new restaurant. The restaurant didn’t have a liquor license so you had a bring your own bottle of wine. As we were seated and preparing for a nice romantic evening, we realized we were next to a table that was reserved for a large group. About 10 minutes later, a group of 10 couples, decked out in their full biker leathers and looking very much the part of stereotypical bikers, sat at the table next to us. We weren’t quite sure we picked the right restaurant. We soon realized that they were there for the same reason as us and by the end of the meal we were sharing wine, stories, and laughs. We had a great time and once again learned never to judge a book by its cover.
Jeff Worrell, Carmel City Council:
Q Romantic dinner out or at home? A Romantic dinner at home is always our preference

Henri Najem wouldn’t call his new Whitestown restaurant Flamme Burger a “burger joint.” This seasoned restaurateur argues that such a label glosses over the depth of menu offerings and quality of his food. What Najem wants to create is a dining experience where patrons can enjoy fresh fares in a casual, welcoming atmosphere.
T
he Whitestown restaurant, which opened in December, is Flamme Burger’s second location. Flamme Burger is a “fresh casual” eatery that uses fresh ingredients, homemade recipes, and a wood-burning grill to create a full host of menu items. Najem
worked tirelessly for two years to perfect his recipes and dishes. Flamme burgers are a unique blend of brisket, short ribs, and sirloins. Burgers and other menu items are cooked on a special open flame, wood-burning grill that Najem created. All sandwiches are paired with Harlan Bakeries’ brioches.

Najem personally created over 20 homemade sauces to complement menu items. Craft beers and wines are also available. Flamme burgers are guest favorites, but the non-burger options have a following, too. Flamme’s Thai chicken salad is a popular choice while chicken and seafood options appeal to others.

For the last 25 years, Najem has worked in the restaurant industry. Najem and his wife, Shelley, owned the iconic Geist restaurant Bella Vita for 17 years. In 2015, the couple opened the first Flamme Burger in Fishers. Restaurant ownership runs in Najem’s blood. His parents owned bars and restaurants in downtown Indianapolis. His first restaurant experience began at age12 while working in his uncle’s west side Indianapolis restaurant. Najem’s frequent trips to Zionsville soccer fields with his daughter’s team alerted him to the growth in Boone County. “I noticed the growth and devel-
opment in the area,” says Najem. “I saw a lot of opportunity here.” Tanya Sumner, Whitestown’s director of public relations, was instrumental in Najem’s feeling welcomed into the Boone County community. “We were excited about a locally owned place coming into Whitestown,” Sumner asserts. “His product was different and exciting.” Najem feels a strong commitment to giving back to the community and contributing to local charities. Before Flamme Burger opened in Whitestown, Sumner says Najem contacted her about partnering with a local charity. Sumner connected Najem to the Caring Center

The Caring Center meets the needs of many single mothers and their children within Boone County. This was important for Najem whose own single mother raised him and his five siblings after his father died in a car accident when he was eight years old. Flamme Burger donated a $1,000 check to the Caring Center at its ribbon cutting ceremony. Once a month, Najem will donate 10 percent of the restaurant’s profits to the Caring Center. Theresa Hanners, executive director of the Caring Center, is thrilled with the partnership. “The fact that Henri is very passionate about meeting the needs of single moms and children means a lot,” Hanners says. “Donations to the Caring Center can be feast or famine. We are grateful to have something consistent.” Hanners said the restaurant’s donations will be used to purchase food during those “famine” times. The new Whitestown Flamme Burger is open at 6850 Whitestown Parkway.

Recently recording their 23rd album last summer, they have gained and maintained prominence as one of jazz’s most influential and most loved jazz groups.
Based on the book by Dr. Seuss. Play originally produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain. Adaptation by Katie Mitchell. The Cat in the Hat is the perfect friend for a boring rainy afternoon. From games and mischief to Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat brings all sorts of trouble to this grey day— but will Sally and her brother be able to explain the mess to Mother? This Dr. Seuss classic leaps onto the stage with chaotic exuberance in this adaptation from the National Theatre in London. THE TARKINGTON FEBRUARY 22 - MARCH 2, 2017
