Nota Bene American Association of Dental Editors & Journalists
Helping dental organizations communicate with their members and publics
COMING SOON! The new website, aadej.org, will offer a streamlined, modern design approach to providing members with timely information and advice.
Spring Ahead The past two years have brought us into a new reality that, during many days, is bracketed by so many Zoom meetings. Knowing that many of us can continue to work and communicate effectively even without benefit of in-person contact is empowering….but let’s face it. It doesn’t beat the human connection. Reading this issue of Nota Bene probably means that you are currently an AADEJ member, but right now is the perfect time to check your membership status and, if necessary, renew. You know what else it’s a good time to do? Refer a colleague to become an AADEJ member! Membership is the lifeblood of any association. To quote Dennis Engel, DDS, a past AADEJ president, “The best way to endure the trials and tribulations of writing is to share those experiences with other writers.” Sure, you can go online and look up the latest news on just about any topic, but that pales in comparison with having the ability to connect, one-on-one, with your colleagues in dental editing and journalism.
Your membership in AADEJ gives you: • peer-to-peer networking opportunities • benefits of AADEJ’s new partnership with the American College of Dentists • eligibility to become a certified dental editor • supporting dental journalism awards • “how-to’s” on mastering new media and skills to improve your publication • access to an online database (in development) of articles and photographs • Seal recognition for dental journalism excellence So renew your AADEJ membership now, and again, tell your colleagues about us! Renewing is easy:
• Online: go to www.acd.org, and click on the “members” tab at the top right of the screen. Wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to ask your colleagues directly about their experiences with a particular issue, or for possible solutions to an • Phone: (301) 977-3223 ethical dilemma?
