WELCOME Whether you are new to College Heights or a long time member, we are so glad you are here! Every person who walks through our doors is important to us, so if you ever feel like just another number, we’re doing something wrong and we give you permission to tell us about it!

Wade Landers Titus Josh Quade Global Outreach Age & Neuenschwander College x370 Young Adults

We know that you, like every person who comes to College Heights, are on a unique journey of faith marked by a quest to answer the questions you face.

ELDERS

You may be asking yourself, “Will I fit in here with this group of people?” “Is this a place where I can serve?” “Can these people help me grow in my relationship with God?” Or maybe you are wrestling with difficult and disturbing questions like, “Where is God in the midst of tragedy?” “Is there hope for me to be forgiven by God?” “What happens to me when I die?” “How can I live a life that matters?” Wherever you are on your journey, we want to walk together with you. It is in Christian community that we learn our true identity, what our purpose is, and who we are meant to become. At College Heights, you can be a part of something bigger than yourself. It is only together that we can carry out our mission: to make disciples of Jesus Christ who change the world through the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God. We invite you to join us in • praying about everything to strengthen our trust in God and deepen our love for Him; • speaking the good news of Jesus’ rescue, healing, and purpose; • growing by following Jesus and choosing God’s way every day; and • loving like Jesus loved by giving time, resources, gifts and energy to help all people encounter God’s love.

WE WILL PRAY Pray about everything.

We will talk to God to deepen our trust in him, agreement with him, love of him, and commitment to his purpose.

SPEAK The things we love, we talk about. If we love Jesus and love people, we will speak the good news of Jesus’ rescue, healing, and purpose at every opportunity.

GROW Choose God’s way, every day.

We will follow and live like Jesus and help others as well by choosing God’s way everyday.

LOVE Love like Jesus.

We will love like Jesus by giving our lives, resources, gifts, and energy to help all people encounter God’s love.

MAKING DISCIPLES WHO CHANGE THE WORLD 11

SMALL GROUPS The church is a community of committed disciples of Jesus who make other disciples! This means that relationships are at our core. Growth occurs when we are in relationship with Jesus and with others. As a matter of fact, the Bible says that when we isolate ourselves, we are fools (Proverbs 18:1). Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote, “Sin demands to have a man by himself. It withdraws him from the community.” It is in the community of fellow believers (who incidentally are also fellow sinners) that God does some of His most formative work! This is discipleship beyond Sunday morning. The importance of our gathering and worshiping on Sunday, shoulder to shoulder, cannot be understated. The inspired teaching and preaching of the Word of God is something Jesus modeled and charged his people to do. At the same time, learning to obey and live out the teachings of Jesus primarily happens in the day to day - in relationship.

One of the key ways you can get connected to community is through College Heights small groups. Small groups creates an environment for sharing lives with one another, praying for one another and for the world around us, growing together in Christ, caring for one another as well as reaching out to those around us who need Jesus also! If you are not involved in a small group, connect with our Small Groups Minister, Josh Beck at jbeck@chjoplin.org or 624.6915 x320 and he can help. If you are already in a small group, then follow Jesus well...together!

CHILDREN

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Our Early Childhood Ministry includes Baby City (0-1), Toddler Town (2-3), and Kid Cadets (Preschool 4’s-Kindergarten). We find it a great joy to help young children grow in their knowledge of and love for Jesus! We’re honored to serve families and help you connect through service projects, fun activities and meaningful moments of growth. We offer biblically sound lessons, age appropriate activities, and safe, quality care on Sundays at 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM. Wednesday programming is offered at 7:00 PM during the school year. Our Early Childhood Ministry staff is here to serve both families and volunteers! If you have questions about our ministry or are looking for opportunities to serve, please contact Ann Wolfe, Early Childhood Minister at awolfe@chjoplin.org or 624.6915 x130. Follow us on social media! @chcc_earlychildhood

UPCOMING FAMILY EVENTS: Clothing Swap Saturday, February 25 – 10:00 AM An opportunity for families to give clothing away and receive needed clothing items in return! Look for more information on social media and on our take-home Parent Pages. Babysitting Swap Saturday, March 4 & Saturday, March 18 5:30 PM– 7:30 PM Our first Babysitting Swap was a hit! Parents sign up on one of two teams. Team #1 babysits the children of Team #2, so parents can have an evening to themselves. Teams switch two weeks later. This is a great opportunity to meet other families, be a blessing, and be blessed!

15

Deep Cleaning Day Saturday, April 15 – 10:00 AM We need a lot of servant-minded folks to help us deep clean all three areas of our Early Childhood Ministry. We’ll stop for a picnic lunch and have fun working together to provide a safe, clean atmosphere for our children! Early Childhood Family Picnic Friday, April 28 – 5:00 PM This is a fantastic opportunity for our families to get together, as well as the volunteers who lovingly serve our children each week. Food, fun, families, and faithful volunteers make a great combination!

LAUNCHPAD GRADES 1-5 Our goal in LaunchPad is to give every child a solid foundation for their spiritual journey. We do this by going all the way thru the Bible every year. Each week we dive into a Bible story to learn the facts and discuss how we can apply it to our lives. We also spend time in small groups to learn how to talk about Jesus and share our lives with others. We use FUN to make church enjoyable and memorable; hopefully this will be the best hours of a child’s week. Every week we like to...PLAY HARD, SING LOUD, LOVE GOD.

PARENTS,

We want you to know that we want your children to feel like they BELONG in LaunchPad. We design our time together to not only teach them about Jesus, but also to connect them with friends their own age and adult leaders who will engage them, encourage them, and be a consistent voice in their young lives. We know kids love to have fun, so we do our best to include that, too. It’s a great way to bond with friends and learn about Jesus.

ADULTS,

We want you to know that we are always on the lookout for people who love Jesus & love children. If you share our desire to establish a strong foundation for our children’s spiritual journey, we would love to talk to you about joining the team. We have lots of different roles to meet a wide variety of passions, skills, and comfort levels. So if you are thinking about it...JUST SAY YES to joining the LaunchPad team!

Every Sunday we tackle big questions and big answers!

ODYSSEY AT NIGHT Wednesday night 6:30 - 8:30 PM in the Atrium

A safe, fun, exciting environment where we sing, play games, learn, and talk about important stuff. We believe the middle school age is one of the most important developmental times in a person’s life. There’s a growing body of research, studies, and evidence that supports this belief. We believe kids in grades 6-8 are ready to deeply engage their faith and beliefs. We use specifically designed programming, teaching, games, and mentorship to help direct middle schoolers’ rapidly developing minds toward Jesus. Our goal is for middle schoolers to have a transformational understanding of and belief in the gospel. We want to engage their hearts with the truth of Jesus, and proactively help them answer the “Why?” of their beliefs.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT QUAKE Make a Difference, Create Change 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the Chapel QUAKE is a fun environment where high school students love to hang out and spend time playing, worshiping, and listening to truth from God’s Word. Not every week looks the same, is almost always full of music, laughter, inspirational challenges, and people who genuinely care and want to know you. At QUAKE, students are challenged to make a difference in the world around them and use God’s Word to empower them to do just that.

COLLEGE HEIGHTS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

February 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. College Heights Christian School was founded in 1978 by the elders and ministers at College Heights and has grown to approximately 550 students from preschool through 12th grade. The school follows a college preparatory curriculum laying the foundation for graduates to become successful business and community leaders. Students represent over 90 different churches, with the largest number coming from College Heights Christian Church. CHCS is accredited by the North Central Association and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Our Thru The Roof ministry desires to help everyone experience God’s love and learn more about Him, regardless of physical or developmental challenges.

SUNDAYS

Bible School classes meet at 9:15 AM for children, high school students, and young adults.

PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT

Approximately every two months, we plan a fun-filled evening for the children so parents have a few hours to themselves.

WEDNESDAYS

We have a mid-week service every week with a special activity every 4th Wednesday.

Missions work and service is the heart of the school. Each year high school students spend a week doing missions work locally, nationally and internationally. This past year’s projects included trips as far as Kingston, Jamaica; Juarez, Mexico; Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Locally students served organizations such as The Neighborhood Life House, God’s Resort, Watered Gardens, Rapha House, Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, and Thru the Roof Ministry. Students from all ages are involved by having prayer partners, and donating items to the missions program. God has blessed the students by allowing them to share the gospel with others in many ways. For more information, call 417.782.4114 x 201 or visit collegeheights.org.

JESUS JAM April 21

Our Spring outreach is perhaps one of the most fun dance you will ever attend! We host Jesus Jam, one of the highlights of the year—a an evening of dining and dancing for our friends with disabilities. 23
