MAKING DISCIPLES WHO CHANGE THE WORLD GLOBAL OUTREACH Making disciples of Jesus who change the world is a high value to College Heights. We have a variety of opportunities that allow those of us in Joplin to actively participate in the work our Global Partners are doing around the world: •

• • •

Impact Teams—Know about the work our Global Partners are doing, encourage and support them, and educate others in the church. Join us at our Global Outreach Team Meeting the second Monday evening of each month at 6:00 PM in the Atrium. Global Outreach Kids Team—Each month at our Global Outreach Team meeting we have a special time for the kids to teach them what God is doing around the world. Global Outreach Trips—Each year we take ministry trips overseas for prayer, encouragement, ministry opportunities, and work. Prayer Events—Look for special opportunities to pray, especially at our prayer events throughout the year when we pray for a specific people group, Global Outreach team, or significant event.

For more information about global outreach, contact Wade Landers, Global Outreach Minister, at 624.6915 x370 or wlanders@chjoplin.org.

ONE LESS

GIFT

Through One Less Gift, we spend less on ourselves at the holidays and more on those who are most in need. We perform a deliberate act of local and global love. We intentionally choose to put Christ at the center of Christmas—celebrating His coming and pursuing His heart for the lost and the hurting. During One Less Gift we collect wish list items from our community and global partners. Through your donations, we try to fully fund their requests. We then distribute these financial gifts proportionately to each of our community and global partners. Come be a part of this amazing opportunity to make a difference this holiday season! Be on the lookout for our One Less Gift catalog in November! Find updates and past projects here.

MOPS is for any mom with kids belly to kindergarten. Check us out—the first meeting is free or find us at facebook.com/JoplinMOPS.

We strive to provide safe, quality care in a faith-nurturing environment. We know it’s a great privilege to take care of your children!

Kids’ Country (Pre-K and K)

Your child will enjoy singing, Bible lessons, hands-on activities, crafts, snacks, and the fenced-in playground.

LaunchPad (Grades 1-5)

At LaunchPad, we want kids to: • love coming to church. • connect with friends and leaders. • see God’s big story and how they fit into it. • walk away with ways to live what they have studied. Our tagline—play hard. sing loud. love God.—describes what we do every week. We play fun games, sing great songs together as we worship the Lord, connect with our friends in small group time, and learn about how AMAZING our God is by studying His Word, the Bible. Sunday, 9:15 & 11:00 AM in the Chapel At 9:15 AM we meet for big group fun before heading to Bible School classes. At 11:00 AM we have games, songs, lessons, and small groups. Wednesday, 7:00 PM Grades 1-35 in the Gym On Wednesday nights, we play awesome games, study “What’s in the Bible?”, memorize scripture and talk about how to apply it to our lives in small groups. Parents, you are invited to join the fun every week and get a fantastic overview of the entire Bible! Kids Choir (Grades 1–5) Wednesday, 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall The choir will perform “Wrapping All the Way” on Sunday, December 6, and will rehearse each Wednesday evening. This is a great way for kids to use their talents in music and drama for the Lord! NEW PROGRAM FOR KIDS & PARENTS! Do YOU know what’s in the Bible? We’re starting something new and exciting this fall for LaunchPad kids (grades 1-5) and their parents. LP LABS and LP LiftOff are now combined into LP Blast. For part of our time together at LP Blast, we’ll be viewing the “What’s in the Bible?” (WITB) series, which is full of biblical truths, cool facts, and interesting information presented in a fun and engaging manner. Moms and dads, YOU are invited to come with your kids! We guarantee you’ll learn something and enjoy this fantastic series. We’ll also be playing big games in the gym, connecting through small groups, and memorizing scripture together. Kids are definitely welcome to come without their parents, but we encourage parents to give this a try. We want parents and kids connecting, learning, playing, and growing together. It’s gonna be great! If you have questions or want to be part of our LP Blast Volunteer Crew, contact Brian Sitton at bsitton@chjoplin.org or Ann Wolfe at x146 or awolfe@chjoplin.org.

Kids Choir Christmas Musical December 6

"Wrapping All the Way" This musical is based in Tuneville, where the townspeople are known as Tunies, and their leader, King Dazzlebaum, has declared that every day is Christmas! The conversation is loaded with Christmas-isms and the air is merry and bright as the Christmas extravaganza—"Tinsel Mania"—is about to take place. You won't want to miss it!

students Middle School

Sunday, 9:15 AM in K124 Wednesday, 7:00 PM in the Atrium We believe that kids in grades 6–8 are ready to deeply engage their faith and beliefs. We use specifically designed programming, teaching, games, and mentorship to help direct middle schoolers’ rapidly developing minds toward Jesus. Our goal is for middle schoolers to have a transformational understanding of and belief in the gospel. We want to engage their hearts with the truth of Jesus, and proactively help them answer the “Why?” of their beliefs. Contact Logan Greer, Middle School Minister, at lgreer@chjoplin.org or Cathy Cook, Youth Team Assistant, x151 or ccook@chjoplin.org.

High School

Sunday, 9:30 AM in the Gym Wednesday, 7:00 PM in the Chapel We want students to be able to answer three questions: • • •

Who am I? Finding truth in confusing times. Where do I belong? We were designed for a relationship with God and with each other. What am I supposed to do? I live to bring God joy and to serve as His heart, hands, and feet.

QUAKE is a fun environment where students hang out and spend time playing, worshipping, and listening to truth from God’s Word. Not every week looks exactly the same, but they are always full of music, fun, and people who care. Kids are challenged to make a difference in the world and use God’s Word as a springboard to empower them. Contact Bryce Hansen, High School Minister, at x160 or bhansen@chjoplin.org or Cathy Cook, Youth Team Assistant, x151 or ccook@chjoplin.org.

Wells for India We often have kids ask, “What can I DO to make a difference?” So we are challenging our kids in LaunchPad, Odyssey, and Quake to raise $15,000 to help build a well in India for clean drinking water in a place that needs it most. We are partnering with our Global Outreach team and Central India Christian Mission to place the well where the church is seeking to spread the truth of the gospel.

You can make a difference! Will you GIVE to help raise money to bless a village in India with clean drinking water?

• sacrificially giving their own money.

Visit chjoplin.org and click on “Give,” and choose “Wells for India” from the drop-down menu.

• “giving up” a birthday, asking friends and family to donate money to the “Wells for India” project.

You can also donate at the Youth Office.

We want to give a village not only clean water, but also THE Living Water, Jesus Christ! Here are ways our kids are responding:

• putting on a fundraiser Fun Run and 5K. • organizing a volleyball tournament. • designing t-shirts to sell. Will you PRAY? Pray God will work in the lives of our kids and that they would know Jesus more and seek out ways to build His Kingdom on this earth.

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17

COLLEGE AGE The College Age Ministry helps college age individuals prepare for what’s next: relationships, careers, families, and lifelong ministry involvement.

Upper Room Sunday, 7:00 PM in the Chapel Upper Room is a time for college age and young adults to gather together, worship, and learn how to live a life in Jesus. Come at 6:40 for coffee and music!

Community Groups Our community groups are small groups of students who meet in the homes of church families and are led by a college-age peer. Some of the groups are Bible studies, some are purely relational, and most groups are a mix of students from various colleges.

Fall Retreat

Our annual Fall Retreat will be November 6-8 at Camp Cyokamo. Come join us for a weekend away to discover more about Christ and get to know other Christians your age. Follow @chcollegeage on Twitter and we’ll keep you updated with all of the happenings in the College Age! For more information, contact Josh Quade, College Age Minister, at 624.6915 x170 or jquade@chjoplin.org, or Madeline Bridgford, College Age Assistant, at 624.6915 x171 or mbridgford@chjoplin.org.

The presence of Jesus changes us. Throughout the Gospels Jesus interacts with people from all walks of life. This fall the College Age Ministry will be studying Jesus’ interactions in the Gospels to see how God meets us in our life. It goes deeper than Jesus’ physical interactions, addressing how the presence of God transforms our situation and identity. God is always WITH US.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Above: You can watch a video about how a Friendship Family impacted one international student.

Friendship Families International students are waiting to get to know you! Open your home once a month to a student for a meal and your world will soon change. Students tell us the time spent with an American family is one of the most memorable things they do while studying in the US. Friendship Families tell us that they get as much from this experience as their students! Learn about a new culture as you provide a home atmosphere (and home cooking) to a student that is far from family and friends. New students will be arriving later this summer, so sign up now! For more information contact Trish Udell at tudell@chjoplin.org.

English Classes for Refugees Expand your world by helping those less fortunate. Hundreds of refugees have found themselves resettling in SW Missouri due to unfavorable conditions in their home countries. Come alongside teachers in a program that is seeking to help these English learners find success and confidence as they become proficient in English and live in the US. For more information about assisting with English Classes for Refugees contact Trish Udell at tudell@chjoplin.org.

MEN The Men’s Ministry wants to help men build relationships, invest in their families, develop as leaders, and become the men God made them to be. We have men’s groups that meet on Monday nights and Wednesday nights. During the school year we participate in All Pro Dad, helping men become better fathers. We also host special events throughout the year.

Knights of the 21st Century The Knights of the 21st Century is a Men’s Ministry Study Series. These programs were developed to help men grow in Christ, learn to lead their families and contribute to their communities more effectively, and by doing this, change our culture through the local church. The tools provided enable men to see God’s purpose behind their design, develop their God-given talents, and appreciate the presence of Christ in every area of their lives. For more information and to find out when the next group is starting contact Dave Conrad at 417.592.7825 or Pat Boyer at 417.483.9560.

There are dorm-type cabins or first come, first served camping spots available. Contact Jeff White, Men’s Ministry Minister, at x340 or jwhite@chjoplin.org.

WOMEN The Women’s Ministry desires to make disciples of Jesus who change the world. We focus on helping women grow deeper in their love of Jesus, increase their knowledge of the Bible, and connect with one another in community. Opportunities throughout the year include Bible studies, conferences, prayer retreats, and more. The Women’s Ministry is open to all women of any age and stage of life.

Our theme for 2015-16 is “TOGETHER: One Mind, One Voice” taken from Romans 15:5-6 which says “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are excited about this coming year with the monthly activities planned that will appeal to all generations. We desire to work together with women, encouraging them in the study of the Word, connecting them to other women and helping them to be effective witnesses of the joy we have in Jesus.
