I know God asks only that we repair the portion of the wall before us and He will keep His promise to “fight for us,” but it’s hard and exhausting and seems never to end. I don’t want to hear the trumpet again! It means another battle, and the victories seem so small. I want to think of more pleasant things... spend more time in my garden... write another book... catch up with some old friends. But I love my country. This “grand experiment in liberty” is an undeniable gift from God. I want my grandchildren and greatgrandchildren to live as free citizens of the greatest nation ever devised; but with the privilege of citizenship comes responsibility. As Thomas Jefferson famously said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” so... back to the wall to which God has called me!

To what is He calling you? Unquestionably to seek His face, and pray, and repent for our country. Certainly to be informed and vote wisely. Indisputably to “fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (Nehemiah 4) Is He also calling you to give time and treasure to the candidate who best reflects your values? To speak out, and persuade and encourage others? To join other brothers and sisters and possibly run for office? More and more Christians are being called. Are you hearing echoes of His trumpet? Join us at the wall and then “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed.” His plan is to do “...something in [our] days that [we will] not believe.” Habakkuk 1:5

About the United States Declaration of Independence "America is the ONLY NATION IN THE WORLD that is founded on creed. That creed is set forth...in the Declaration of Independence.” G.K. Chesterton The Declaration referred to the "Laws of Nature and of NATURE'S GOD... Appealing to the SUPREME JUDGE OF THE WORLD for the rectitude of our intentions...And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of DIVINE PROVIDENCE, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor." Many of the signers actually did sacrifice their lives and prosperity for their new nation. Of the 56 Signers, 11 had their homes destroyed; 5 were hunted and captured; 17 served in the military; and 9 died during the war. John Hancock, the 39-year-old President of the Continental Congress, was the first to sign, reportedly saying "the price on my head has just doubled.” 70-year-old Benjamin Franklin said, "We must hang together or most assuredly we shall hang separately.” 41-year-old John Adams wrote, "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding generations, as the great anniversary Festival. When 54-year-old Samuel Adams signed the Declaration, he said, "We have this day restored the SOVEREIGN to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come." 34-year-old James Wilson signed the Declaration and later the Constitution and was appointed to the Supreme Court. He stated in 1787, "After a period of 6,000 years since creation, the United States exhibits to the world THE FIRST INSTANCE of a nation...assembling voluntarily...and deciding...that system of government under which they and their posterity should live." John Jay, President of the Continental Congress and First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, wrote in 1777, "The Americans are the FIRST PEOPLE whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of...choosing the forms of government under which they should live. All other constitutions have derived their existence from violence or accidental circumstances." Daniel Webster stated in 1802, "Miracles do not cluster, and what has HAPPENED ONCE IN 6,000 YEARS, may not happen again. Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world." President Calvin Coolidge stated in 1924, "The history of government on this earth has been almost entirely...rule of force held in the HANDS OF A FEW. Under our Constitution, America committed itself to power in the HANDS OF THE PEOPLE. The principles...which went into the Declaration of Independence...are found in...the sermons...of the early colonial clergy... They preached equality because they believed in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. They justified freedom by the text that we are all created in the Divine image." Ronald Reagan stated 1961, "In this country of ours took place the GREATEST REVOLUTION that has ever taken place in the world's history. Every other revolution simply exchanged one set of rulers for another... Here for the first time in all the THOUSANDS OF YEARS of man's relation to man...the founding fathers established the idea that you and I had within ourselves the God-given right and ability to determine our own destiny."

We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. Government should not impede the Second Amendment. Constitution protects our right to keep and bear arms for defense or sport. Vigorously fight any attempts to reinstate the assault weapons ban or other legislation to limit the right of law-abiding citizens to own guns.

Opposes all gun control laws. Second Amendment designed to protect the rights of armed revolutionaries to defend themselves against their government. Any politician who advocates gun control laws arguably violates her oath of office to support the principles of the Constitution.

Constitution The principles of life, liberty, freedom and the power of the individual are values that we need to protect.

The first step to "Liberty Under God" is "backtracking" to return to " Organic Law" of our country.

Education Local school officials and parents much better suited to know what is best for students, not federal government. Top priority remove burdens and state and local authorities decide. Federal unfunded mandates try to force one-size fits all system. Empower local educators and parents with tools to address problems as they see fit. VOTED YES Interest Rate Reduction Act, oneyear extension of 3.4 % subsidized Stafford Loan interest rate. April 2012

Education is no more governmental function than selling groceries. Give parents full choice over education, just like they have full choice over their children's diet, and watch capitalists help parents give their children the highest test scores in the world. Not to mention honesty, morality, and Christian character which is what a majority of parents want for their children. Government appears to want people to remain in a state of childlike dependence.

Need common sense solutions that will strengthen our health care system Insurance bought across state lines so insurers compete and lower costs. Pass tort reform so doctors can give patients the best medical care possible without fear of unreasonable retribution.

Immigration Complete border fence and deploy National Guard if necessary until we have firm control over who enters this nation. Vigorous enforcement of immigration laws by police whenever they encounter illegal alien, especially if during investigation of other criminal conduct. COSPONSORED National Guard Border Enforcement Act, which directs the Secretary of Defense to deploy the National Guard for border control activities along the U.S.-Mexican border.

By 2020 abolish all anti-immigration laws. Create network of voluntary social service agencies to meet immigrants and ensure their literacy and familiarity with American values. Commit to on-going transmission of American values to immigrants. Expand, or maintain, current legal immigration quotas; increase permanently H-1B visas and deregulate employment-based immigration; remove oneyear limit on filing for political asylum.

Retirement Security In addition to massive tax increase, Obamacare cuts Medicare by half a trillion dollars and institutes a board of bureaucrats whose sole purpose is to deny care to seniors. This law is wrong for the country and wrong for Missourians.

If you're under 45, forget about Medicare. You're not getting any. The system is bankrupt Estimated deficit in Medicare as of fiscal 2008 is approximately $70 trillion. Congress intends to pay off benefits with inflated currency

Sanctity of Life 100 percent pro-life. Life begins at conception. Co-sponsored several pro-life bills to establish that life begins at conception, prevent tax payer dollars from funding abortions, and ensure that no funds under Title X awarded for performing services for, or providing funds for abortion.. CoSponsor VOTE YES April, 2011 No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act.

The intentional killing of an innocent, defenseless person is murder. This has to be the most basic foundation of a humane society. But even before this need arises, self-government operates to prevent unwanted pregnancies and cultivate a positive value for human life.

Civil Rights SAME SEX MARRIAGE

SAME SEX MARRIAGE Same sex marriage is the great civil rights issue our time. I am fighting for equality on all fronts, including sexual orientation. Furthermore; I believe any limits on same sex marriage are a direct violation of equal protection.

It is ethically desirable that all persons be accommodated in their commitments to consensual, loving, permanent adult relationships and legally obligatory to treat all citizens with equality under the law.

RIGHT TO KEEP & BEAR ARMS

“Level the playing field” for all gun purchases via enhanced universal instant background check system. Integration of more comprehensively identifying persons disqualified by mental health issues. Link appropriate firearms use and safety training to acquisition. Rigorous enforcement of laws regarding “gun trafficking.”

I am a proud supporter of the Second Amendment. I believe our founding fathers intended this to be a nation of gun owners.. I also believe that we need to work to ensure that this is a nation of responsible gun owners. Firearms need to be secured when not in active use. Bringing an assault rifle to get ice cream is not protected by the Second Amendment.

Education The American education system is in crisis and we are failing our children. Of course standards need to be raised. However; we want an education system that encourages a child’s natural curiosity and zeal for learning, not one that takes away their personal identity and forces them into a cookie-cutter model of success. More tests are not the answer. Standardization will only cause more children to fall through the cracks.

Economy FEDERAL OVERSIGHT

FEDERAL OVERSIGHT I was previously on record as supporting a $9 an hour minimum wage. I know this plan would increase wages for literally millions of Americans, and at the time I felt the risks to the job market were too great to do something more drastic. New reports are now available that make it clear to me that a minimum wage of $10.10 is the only sensible proposal.

TAXES The United States is experiencing a budget crisis, and I believe it’s time for an end to dysfunctional tax cuts for top earners. Taxes are never popular, and neither are spending cuts, but it is going to take a creative and pragmatic mixture of both to get this country back on track.

Energy & Environment I do not believe coal, oil, or the byproduct, natural gas are the fuels of the future. We need to move toward secure and domestic sources of clean sustainable energy so we can continue to fuel the growth of our great nation with our expansive natural resources as we always have.

Immigration Immigrants can enhance our communities and that diversity is good. Public policy in this area must also entail respect for law and acknowledge the complications that unregulated immigration poses for our economy and society.

Obamacare “Repair and replace” the Affordable Care Act. Best approach to national health care is through an improved Medicare for All program. Opposes all efforts to simply “repeal and revert” as such an action will leave millions again uninsured and subject to health care access and affordability sharply limited by giant private health insurance companies..

Support the Affordable Care Act. Encourage cooperation and collaboration to continue to work toward our common goal of ensuring the availability of affordable health care for every American. Support Medicaid Expansion and urge the State Legislature to vote for Medicaid Expansion and participation in the insurance exchange subsidy offered under the ACA.

Sanctity of Life Every woman has a right to accessible and affordable forms of safe and effective contraception. I also believe every American has the right to be informed and aware of the choices available to him or her. Sex and reproduction are very personal and private issues and are choices best left to the individual, not the government.

Men and women should have broad access to all means of family planning so that they can exercise their intimate right to choose when they conceive and rear children.

Article I Section 1 All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives. BALLOT MEASURES CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 1 [Proposed by the 97th General Assembly (First Regular Session) CCS#2 for SS for HCS HJR Nos. 11 & 7] Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to ensure that the right of Missouri citizens to engage in agricultural production and ranching practices shall not be infringed? The potential costs or savings to governmental entities are unknown, but likely limited unless the resolution leads to increased litigation costs and/or the loss of federal funding. A “yes” vote will amend the Missouri Constitution to guarantee the rights of Missourians to engage in farming and ranching practices, subject to any power given to local government under Article VI of the Missouri Constitution. A “no” vote will not amend the Missouri Constitution regarding farming and ranching. If passed, this measure will have no impact on taxes. RECOMMEND VOTE “YES”

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 5 [Proposed by the 97th General Assembly (Second Regular Session) SCS SJR 36] Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to include a declaration that the right to keep and bear arms is an unalienable right and that the state government is obligated to uphold that right? State and local governmental entities should have no direct costs or savings from this proposal. However, the proposal’s passage will likely lead to increased litigation and criminal justice related costs. The total potential costs are unknown, but could be significant. A "yes" vote will amend the Missouri Constitution to expand the right to keep and bear arms to include ammunition and related accessories for such arms. This amendment also removes the language that states the right to keep and bear arms does not justify the wearing of concealed weapons. This amendment does not prevent the legislature from limiting the rights of certain felons and certain individuals adjudicated as having a mental disorder. A "no"; vote will not amend the Missouri Constitution regarding arms, ammunition, and accessories for such arms. If passed, this measure will have no impact on taxes. RECOMMEND VOTE “YES” in accord with the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 7 [Proposed by the 97th General Assembly (Second Regular Session) SS HJR 68] Should the Missouri Constitution be changed to enact a temporary sales tax of three-quarters of one percent to be used solely to fund state and local highways, roads, bridges and transportation projects for ten years, with priority given to repairing unsafe roads and bridges? This change is expected to produce $480 million annually to the state's Transportation Safety and Job Creation Fund and $54 million for local governments. Increases in the gas tax will be prohibited. This revenue shall only be used for transportation purposes and cannot be diverted for other uses. A “yes” vote will amend the Missouri Constitution to increase funding for state, county, and municipal street, road, bridge, highway, and public transportation initiatives by increasing the state sales/use tax by three-quarters of one percent for 10 years. This amendment further prohibits a change in gasoline taxes and prohibits toll roads or bridges. This amendment also requires these measures to be re-approved by voters every 10 years. A “no” vote will not amend the Missouri Constitution to increase funding for state, county, and municipal street, road, bridge, highway, and public transportation initiatives. If passed, this measure will increase the state sales/use tax. RECOMMEND VOTE “NO”. No new taxes’

BALLOT MEASURES CONTINUED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 8 [Proposed by the 97th General Assembly (Second Regular Session) HJR 48] Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to create a "Veterans Lottery Ticket" and to use the revenue from the sale of these tickets for projects and services related to veterans? The annual cost or savings to state and local governmental entities is unknown, but likely minimal. If sales of a veterans lottery ticket game decrease existing lottery ticket sales, the profits of which fund education, there could be a small annual shift in funding from education to veterans’ programs. A "yes" vote will amend the Missouri Constitution to create a "Veterans Lottery Ticket." This amendment further provides that the revenue from the sale of these tickets will be used for projects and services related to veterans. A "no" vote will not amend the Missouri Constitution to create a "Veterans Lottery Ticket." If passed, this measure will have no impact on taxes RECOMMEND VOTE “NO” Veterans’ programs should be funded through normal legislative budgetary channels, not by encouraging gambling.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 9 [Proposed by the 97th General Assembly (Second Regular Session) SCS SJR 27] Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended so that the people shall be secure in their electronic communications and data from unreasonable searches and seizures as they are now likewise secure in their persons, homes, papers and effects? State and local governmental entities expect no significant costs or savings. A “yes” vote will amend the Missouri Constitution to specify that electronic data and communications have the same protections from unreasonable searches and seizures as persons, papers, homes, and effects. A “no” vote will not amend the Missouri Constitution regarding protections for electronic communications and data. If passed, this measure will have no impact on taxes. RECOMMEND VOTE “YES” in accord with Amendment 4 of the U.S. Constitution

NEOSHO R-V SCHOOL DISTRICT Shall Neosho R-V School District of Newton County, Missouri borrow money in the amount of $24,000,000 for the purpose of acquiring property and constructing a new junior high school building, to be located adjacent to Carver Elementary School on Kodiak Road, if suitable for such purposes, renovating, repairing and improving existing school buildings and facilities of the District and furnishing and equipping the same and issue bonds for the payment thereof resulting in a S0.24 increase to the debt service levy? If this proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the District is estimated to increase from SO.36 to SO.60 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.

MIDWAY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT Shall there be incorporated a Fire Protection District between Fairview and Stark City supported by a levy up to 30 cents per S100 assessed valuation? Five directors are to be elected, the one receiving the highest number of votes shall hold office for a term of six years, the person who received the second and third highest number of votes shall hold office for terms of four years and the persons who received the fourth and fifth highest number of votes shall hold office for terms of two years.
