MOTLOW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certificate

Motlow State transformed Gabrielle's career path and life from one of not being sure how to pursue her dream of practicing medicine to one that has equipped her with the skills and confidence needed to save lives as an advanced

emergency medical technician. With the Tennessee Promise Scholarship and Honors Scholarship, she was able to earn an associate degree and ultimately found her passion working in emergency medicine and with traumas. Gabrielle is currently pursuing a bachelor's in biology with a concentration in genetics and biotechnology, along with a minor in chemistry in the Physician’s Assistant program at Middle Tennessee State University.

Motlow's EMS program shaped me into the person I am today. This community offers a seamless transition from high school to higher education with minimal financial stress. Motlow truly prepared me for future endeavors in emergency medicine and beyond."

CHATTANOOGA STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Automated Controls

Chattanooga State played a pivotal role in Allen’s educational journey and professional growth. With assistance from the Tennessee Reconnect Grant, Allen was able to attend Chattanooga State tuition-free. Earning an

Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology laid the foundation for pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering technology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Allen contributed to innovative projects including a robotic hand controlled by eye movements and a four-degree-of-freedom Pick and Place Cartesian Robot. Now pursuing a master’s in cybersecurity, Allen exemplifies how Chattanooga State empowers students to pursue lifelong learning and make positive impacts on our state’s workforce.

Chattanooga State provided me with the foundation and encouragement to believe in my potential and transform my dreams into reality. Thanks to them, I’ve achieved more than I ever thought possible.”

Through dual enrollment courses in high school, she accelerated her training and graduated debtfree, aided by Tennessee Promise and other scholarships. Her determination and dedication, demonstrated by her perfect attendance despite a 60-mile daily commute, led her to earn multiple certifications and a diploma. Today, Katelynn thrives in her role as a welder, a testament to the high-quality, industry-relevant education she received.

PELLISSIPPI STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Information Technology Major

Gavin, a freshman at Pellissippi State Community College, credits the college's innovative programs for opening his door to college. As a senior in high school, Gavin engaged in meaningful hands-on experiences through Pellissippi State’s Information Technology College to Career Collaboratives program. His internships, first with Cirrus Aircraft and later within Pellissippi State’s own IT department, provided invaluable industry exposure and networking opportunities. With support from knowledgeable mentors, he gained realworld technical skills that textbooks alone couldn't offer. Through these opportunities, Gavin has not only expanded his skill set but also secured contract work, positioning him well ahead of the curve as he pursues his degree.

Thanks to Pellissippi State, the experience I've gained from my internships has been more valuable than any classroom lesson. It has truly prepared me for what companies expect in the tech field."

ROANE STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Roane State Middle College Class of 2020

The Middle College Program at Roane State Community College played a significant role in Anthony’s academic and professional success. The Roane State Foundation provided financial support that allowed him to participate in college courses and gave him the confidence needed to continue his college journey. With the assistance of Roane State faculty and staff, he applied for and received the UT Battelle Scholarship, which accelerated his education and paved the way for him to earn dual degrees in aerospace and mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Anthony is currently pursuing a master’s in aerospace systems and recently accepted a full-time position as a starship dynamics engineer at SpaceX.

Roane State’s Middle College Program provided the first step in my college journey that ultimately propelled me to a career at SpaceX. The education and support I received at Roane State made all the difference.”

Samara’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville. As a student in Harriman, she left high school due to personal hardships and to care for her family. She later earned her GED through the adult education program at the college and ultimately found her true calling. Choosing a bold new path in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program, Samara excelled as one of the few women in her program. In addition, she significantly boosted her math scores while balancing work and volunteer duties. Samara’s achievements highlight TCAT Oneida/Huntsville as a force in redefining her career path and empowering her future.

Sleep Diagnostics Technology Certificate

During a challenging period marked by her husband's severe health issues and caring for their three young children, two with special needs, Jill found a lifeline at Volunteer State Community College. Despite the odds, Vol State provided her with the resources and support needed to pursue a career in sleep diagnostics technology, a choice inspired by her family's medical challenges. With guidance and resources provided by Vol State staff, she overcame financial and personal hurdles to graduate and become a registered polysomnographic technologist. Jill now gives back to her community in her new profession, embodying the resilience and support that Vol State offered during her time of need.
