Remarkable Growth UC Merced is undergoing tremendous growth, and it is an exciting time for students on campus.

To meet the demand of the increasing number of students who wish to further their education here, a four-year project that will nearly double the size of campus is already underway. The increased capacity will allow the University to grow to 10,000 students.

The goal of the 2020 Project is to add significant amounts of teaching, research, housing and student-support facilities.

The first phase of the project, completed in fall 2018, brought a new dining hall and two buildings that double as classrooms, student meeting places and residence halls.

By fall 2020, other new buildings and outdoor athletic facilities will include:

• • • • Three academic and research buildings with faculty offices, as well as wet, dry and computational labs 1,700 student beds with ground-floor classrooms and student life facilities NCAA II-level competition swimming pool and recreation field Wellness center Research greenhouse Transit hub Early Childhood Education Center expansion
