Getting Involved
S
tudent life at Chico State isn’t limited to the classroom. We are nationally recognized for our commitment to
community service and engagement, and co-curricular activities give students a sense of belonging, an opportunity to build meaningful relationships, and real-world experiences they’ll carry into their future careers.
Clubs, Organizations, Activities The University offers over 150 student clubs and organizations, which focus on everything from specific majors and professional associations to religious and cultural organizations. Our Recreational Sports program has 26 competitive club sports teams and our Fraternity and Sorority Affairs program has 32 campus-recognized fraternities, sororities, and culturally based fraternities and sororities. Our diverse range of opportunities allow students from any class level to meet others with similar interests and provide an opportunity to create lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills and immerse themselves in the Wildcat family. Find out how to get involved at www.csuchico.edu/sll.
Community Involvement Community is an integral part of the Chico State experience, and many student organizations spend time giving back. For example, students volunteering through Community

Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) or the Community Legal Information Clinic (CLIC) contribute more than 60,000 volunteer hours each year to the North State and beyond. CAVE, CLIC, ’Cats in the Community, and other service opportunities allow our students to make a difference in people’s lives and grow into active, committed, and well-rounded professionals and community members. Civic Engagement Faculty and staff in every discipline are committed to giving students hands-on training and real-world experience in their fields. Whether it’s gaining tax preparation experience by providing free services for those in need or counseling or program coordinating experience by interning at a local nonprofit, students can talk with their advisors or the Office of Civic Engagement, www.csuchico.edu/civic, to find civic engagement opportunities.
