It has been another great year at Collegiate School. Aladdin, Collegiate School’s food service provider, is proud to have done its part in providing your children with healthy and enjoyable lunches. Now in our fifth year, we are happy to be a part of the Collegiate Community and our goal is to offer your children the best food service available in today’s market. We have summarized below for those new to the school and those needing a refresher, the information on how to purchase meals at Collegiate School. We also invite you to review the Meal Plan Options at Collegiate School brochure that details the various plans and cost. We encourage you to sign up for your children’s meal plan choices for the 2014-15 school year and enjoy a discount for early meal plan sign up.
Lower School In the Lower School, all children are provided with a magnetic swipe card that uniquely identifies them as a food plan participant. Students purchasing lunch, swipe their card at the cafe register (with the assistance of food services personnel). The students’ unique identifier allows them to purchase food which is then automatically put on that student’s account. For students on a meal plan, the swipe is recognized as a lunch plan participant and does not create a charge. For students not on a meal plan, the lunch purchase is charged to the student account at the daily lunch rate and is billed monthly. The cards are organized by classroom teacher and are kept in the cafeteria. Children in the Lower School have the option to purchase a 5-day or 3-day meal plan. For those who prefer to bring their lunch but would like to eat a hot lunch occasionally, a daily rate is available.
Middle School In the Middle School, Collegiate uses a finger scan system to record lunch and snack bar purchases, similar to the scanning systems used at Busch Gardens, Disney World, the University of Richmond and many K–12 schools and colleges and universities. The students’ unique identifier allows them to purchase food by swiping one finger at the check-out terminal; the charge is then automatically put on that student’s account. For students on a meal plan, the swipe is recognized as a lunch plan participant and does not create a charge. For students not on a meal plan, the lunch purchase is charged to the student account at the daily lunch rate and is billed monthly. Fifth grade students and students new to Collegiate will be scanned prior to the first day of lunch. Middle School students have the option to sign up for a 5-day meal plan or pay a daily rate on those days when a lunch is not brought from home.
McFall Hall Snack Bar In addition to lunch, the school provides breakfast and afternoon snacks in McFall Hall. All purchases are à la carte and will be billed monthly to the student’s account.
Upper School Similar to the Middle School, Upper School students use the finger scan system to record lunch, snack bar and café purchases. With the scan of a finger at the check-out terminal, the charge is automatically charged to that student’s account. For students on a meal plan, the scan is recognized as a previously paid lunch plan participant. For students not on a meal plan, the lunch purchase is charged to the student account at the daily lunch rate and is billed monthly. New students will be scanned prior to the first day of lunch. Upper School students can choose from a 5-day or 5-day PLUS program. If a student opts to not pack a lunch, a hot lunch can be purchased at anytime at the daily rate.
