This year we will not be hosting an in-person event with inflatables and games, but we will have many activities for families and students to participate in during the week of VGF. Cougars Have Heart, Together or Apart! New this year to the Village Green Fair, Middle School students are invited to a Cougar ZOOM Bingo night on Thursday, April 15 with GRAND PRIZES to be won and fun times Apart. Another new VGF event this year is a VGF themed Scavenger Hunt for Lower School students. All Lower School students will complete the Hunt with their classmates during the week of VGF. What a fun way for our younger students to show their Cougar Heart together! Even though we will be Apart, we encourage all students to show their Cougar Heart by participating in our virtual Bake-Off Competition, Collegiate’s Got Talent, and a Family Fun Run. All events will run the week leading up to VGF and deadlines for submissions are listed below. Honor your children and favorite teachers by purchasing Honor Signs which will be placed along all carpool lines for our community to enjoy starting Monday, April 12. Try your luck at winning one of our amazing Raffle Baskets by purchasing raffle tickets. Winners will be notified on Sunday, April 18. Continue to support The Village Green Fair with Friday Frolic on Friday, April 16. Swing by Robins Campus to pick up your delicious, boxed lunches (10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) and while you are there, pick up your pre-ordered VGF T-shirts and gear, gifts from our favorite Shops on the Green vendors and plant arrangements from the Garden Shoppe (10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.). Deadline for pre-orders is Thursday, April 1. Pickup will be at Robins Campus on Friday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 17, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This year, we will again be offering a variety of fresh container gardens beautifully designed in timeless, highquality pots! All arrangements are only available through pre-sale, so order by April 1! We have partnered with Bell Nursery (Collegiate Parent Brett Guthrie) and are thrilled to once again offer a vast array of planters to the Collegiate community in support of the School. *Drawings and descriptions are loose representations and approximate sizes of actual items.
The Tall Fern: Ferns are always a VGF favorite, and this year will not disappoint! Roughly 30” tall and 16” wide, these plants will work well in any space. The tall container features a huge Macho or Kimberly Queen Fern that will likely double in size over the summer with a little sun and water. This is the perfect plant for anyone seeking an easy, low-maintenance container with instant curb appeal. $85 each The Butterfly Garden: Our 2020 bestseller in a stunning container features a beautiful arrangement with plenty of color to shine in the summer sun. Filled with a miniature blue-purple “Buddleia” butterfly bush, a long-blooming perennial, and other fragrant summer annuals, the butterflies and other pollinators will find it irresistible. $100 each The Hydrangea: Another crowd pleaser, this beautiful container features an exquisite hydrangea and spilling greenery. The exact variety of hydrangea will be chosen based on availability and growing conditions in the weeks prior to VGF. The result will be a gorgeous hydrangea that will bloom in the summer and can easily be transplanted to your yard in the fall for years of enjoyment and growth. $100 each The Lavender Topiary: Whether you ultimately plant this simple-to-maintain Lavender Topiary in a raised garden bed or keep it in the fiber-clay container on your porch, it shines with one-of-a-kind color and fragrance. The Lavender’s showy blooms stand out on a unique, topiary-style silhouette that hails from Spain. Eye-catching perks and low-maintenance care are a given with this go-to plant. The best part of the Lavender Standard Topiary is that it is a proven performer. From patios to decks and beyond, it makes a statement with a maximum height of 30”. $75 each The Cocktail Package: New this year! Choose from either a Meyer lemon or Bear lime tree approximately 2 feet tall and complete with a green or gold pot to brighten up your home this season. This improved variety is naturally pest- and disease-resistant. The bright yellow (or green) fruit and sweet, aromatic fragrance are coolly complementary and attract attention. This tree is very heavy-bearing and will provide you with a larger number of lemons or limes every year. It’s selfpollinating nature allows it to produce fruit indoors or outdoors. Just think of the drinks and treats you will be able to whip up with the fruit from your own tree! $65 each Questions? Please contact Lauralee Allen (lauralee@canal-cap.com) or Muffy Greenbaum (muffy.greenbaum@gmail.com)
