SILVER SCREEN FRIDAYS

Watch a movie on the library’s big screens with complimentary popcorn and drinks. All movies are family friendly, with a G or PG rating. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times. Each week, one lucky viewer will be brought into the limelight to receive a door prize each week.

STORYWALK® and FIREFLY HUNT

Catch the buzz on the plaza with the library’s latest StoryWalk®, featuring the illuminating tale, Firefly Home by Jane Clarke. Families are invited to follow numbered signs around the plaza and enjoy the optional activity sheets available at the first sign by the fountain. Each story board has a different activity to encourage comprehension skills and amp up the fun! Participants may turn in their completed activity sheet to the library circulation desk for a prize and a second treat will be awarded for finding the ten fireflies hiding around the plaza.

GLOW CRAZY WITH READING! SUMMER READING PROGRAM GRAND FINALE

Celebrate an amazing summer at the outdoor Summer Reading Grand Finale! Follow the searchlights to the party, then watch the shift and glow of a hot air balloon rising into the dusk. Jump (and perhaps sway your way to victory) in neon hoop competitions hosted by DJ Cody or light up the plaza with an artistic lantern of your own design. The evening will be highlighted with a dazzling laser show choreographed to music, presented by Laser Spectacles, and conclude with interactive laser fun. Summer Reading Program 2021! Glow Crazy with Reading!

Let the fun begin! Colleyville Public Library is bringing the joy of summer reading to patrons with in-person programs and READsquared, an engaging online platform. Readers of all ages are invited and encouraged to participate in the 2021 summer reading program, themed “Glow Crazy with Reading!” Registration opens Monday, May 24th. The first 200 children to acquire their initial badge of reading achievement will receive a weekday admission pass to NRH2O.

SUMMER READING RULES

Who may enter?

The Summer Reading Program is open to children, teens, and adults. Those ages 12 and under are considered to be in the children’s category; teens are ages 12-17; adults are 18 and over.

How do you register?

Go to www.Colleyville.READsquared.com. On the bar to the right, underneath the login button, click on REGISTER NOW. Then choose a registration category.

The “MYSELF” category can be used to register a single adult or child.

By using, “MYSELF AND CHILDREN, ” an adult can conveniently register him/ herself and all participating children of a household.

“MY GROUP” is for the registration of daycares, camps and educational groups.

CREATE an account for as many family members as desired, Each family member will have their own reading log. For each child aged 5-12, select whether they wish to record progress by books or minutes. Submit to complete registration. A “Badge of Registration” will appear in each person’s

How does it work?

Starting on Monday, May 24, participants can begin tracking the number of books they read or the number of minutes they read. • Register May 24 through Friday, July 23 • All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library. • Books must be kept at least one night. • Keep all book checkout receipts and bring them in when claiming a prize. If you prefer paperless, may we suggest the CloudLibrary App. Download this app to conveniently display and refer to your checkout history and track your reading - no paper receipts required!

How do I count my reading?

Reading can be counted by book titles or by time. • Title log (10 books) • Time log (5 hours)

1 book = 10 points 1 hour of reading = 20 points

Using your chosen username and password, return to your accounts to record your book titles or minutes of reading to earn points! Alternatively, keep track of reading on your mobile device using the READsquared app, which can be downloaded with the buttons located above the login box on the Colleyville. READsquared.com homepage. Click on the tabs on the left inside each account for extra fun!

What are the prizes for children?

a handled Colleyville library bag with coupons from local vendors, one

in person, for a prize at the Glow Crazy Prize Station. Subsequent reading

badge that can be used to claim a prize and one additional automatic entry into the grand prize drawing.

First prize includes a t-shirt, coupons from local vendors, entry into the Glow Crazy Prize Room and a spotlight spin of the Bright Bonus Prize Wheel. Additionaly, the first 200 children to acquire their initial badge of reading achievement will receive a weekday admission pass to NRH2O.

There are 16 levels of reading achievement available for completion. Radiant readers will become increasingly enlightened as they reach for level 16, the pinnacle of summer reading success. All readers are eligible for a chance to win a weekly random surprise drawing.

Prizes earned can be claimed by presenting badges and reading receipts at the Glow Crazy Prize Station, during regular library hours.

What are the prizes for teens and adults?

The Adult Summer Reading Program is designed for ages 18+ and the Teen Summer Reading Program is for ages 12 to 17. Every book you read earns 100 points. Earn 500 points to receive a prize and be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing of a Visa gift card. Log books each week to enter our weekly prize drawings. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win!

Monday, June 7th reading is Saturday, July 24th.
