WE ARE PROUD to announce that our Research and GIS Manager, John “Matt” Stater, has been named Colliers International’s North America Researcher of the Year.
Matt has perfected the art of market intelligence. His long tenured ability to interpret data in a clear and concise manner has become an invaluable toolset for our brokers and our clients. His dedication to accuracy makes him the most trusted analytical source in the Las Vegas Valley. - Mike Mixer, Executive Managing Director, Colliers International - Las Vegas.
Managing the Colliers Las Vegas Research platform is no small task; add GIS to that mix, and you have one tall order!!! Matt’s experience, market knowledge, and his commitment to Colliers and the highest of research statistical standards has propelled him to the head of the pack. The Colliers Researcher of the Year Award is a tremendous honor and Matt has earned and deserves every bit of the recognition. Congratulations Matt!
- Douglas Garcia, Research Director
This prestigious award honors and recognizes a statistician who makes extraordinary professional contributions in their area of expertise. The honoree is selected for being enterprising in their approach, developing quality work and best practices, going above and beyond in demonstrating service excellence, offering strong brand leadership, supporting Colliers’ culture of collaboration, and demonstrating Colliers’ core values of service, expertise, community and fun. John excelled above researchers nominated from every Colliers office in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Matt is a 20 year veteran of Las Vegas office and joined the company as a courier/ runner two decades ago. As he grew with the company, his ability to bring “life to the numbers” became apparent. Matt was a history major in college and this background is evident in his work. His research is impeccable with every detail thought out carefully and scripted like a fine novel. Many people can report numbers but very few can tell a story and tie in historical facts as well as Matt. Our clients repeatedly report that his data is far superior to our competitors’ data and that they anticipate Colliers’ quarterly releases to hear Matt’s opinions on the latest industry trends. This is a testimony to Matt’s highly organized skill sets, and his ever present desire to provide accurate but meaningful technical reports. Colliers International – Las Vegas’ local market reports have set a standard for other offices to follow in regard to content, accuracy, branding and timing.

SEPTEMBER PERK
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO GRANT TRAUB FOR SPENDING HIS SUNDAY PREPPING A DELICIOUS BATCH OF GREEN CHILI WITH SHREDDED PORK AND FRESH ROASTED HATCH GREEN CHILIES. Toppings included freshly grated sharp cheddar and jack cheeses with a choice of regular or chili cheese Fritos, sour cream and an extra dash of hot sauce for a very brave few! The spice was just right and we ate every bit…not a single bowl leftover! We really enjoyed ourselves and appreciate you catering for us!
END OF SUMMER CELEBRATION August 31st was our annual Ice Cream Social. We enjoyed ten different flavors of ice cream and sherbets with all the fixin’s. The conference room filled up while we all spooned in our candies, nuts, sprinkles, sauces, and fruits to create the perfect afternoon pick me up. Thanks to Gina Jones for picking up all the supplies… this was a perfect “end of summer” soiree.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS
LINKS FOR LIFE
F O U N D A T I O N
CANDLELIGHTERS SUPERHERO 5K On September 10th, we were proud to have 18 of us arrive to support the Candlelighters Superhero 5K. We hustled and were able to raise $3825, which was matched by Links for Life. Our total contribution to the cause was $7650. What an amazing day raising awareness and funds for children battling cancer right here in our Valley. Thank you to everyone that donated. If you donated, please stop by Courtney’s desk to pick up your Superhero shirt as a thank you!
ROBERT TAYLOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HENDERSON A Title I school in our district and they are home to an American Heart Association Teaching Garden. This garden provides lessons and activities for students to directly participate in the nutrition. The program is fighting against childhood obesity while also offering educational opportunities for elementary students. This garden is also home/sanctuary to 10 desert tortoises. Links for Life donated $1,000 to help them purchase new seeds and plants for the school year.
MIRACLE FLIGHTS The CEO for Miracle Flights, Mark Brown, came to the Colliers office to pick up a check for $1,500. This money will be used to send 3 children out of Las Vegas for much needed specialized medical care. Miracle Flights has sponsored more than 100,000 free flights and we are excited to be able to help some of our local Southern Nevada children get the care they need.
GOODIE TWO SHOES FOUNDATION When we heard about the burglary at the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation’s warehouse earlier this summer, we were heartbroken. Links for Life stepped up to help replenish their empty shelves with a $2,500 donation. On Friday, September 16th, 10 of our team members were invited to the first distribution day of the school year at Sunrise Acres Elementary. We were able to pair up and match 400 students with brand new shoes and socks in just a few hours!

If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be and who would play you?
A
A filterless comedy with dry sarcastic humor, perhaps Larry David.
Q
Who is your favorite cartoon character and why?
A
Q
I have always been a Hanna-Barbera fan. I liked Muttley, due to his impeccable comedic timing and mischievous laugh, as well as Tom & Jerry and their hilarious adversarial love hate relationship.
Q
What hobby have you been itching to try, but haven’t found the time for yet?
A
SURFING
Q
What famous person do other people say you most resemble?
A
Michael Jordan
Q
If you had to pick one current hit song to play continuously, non-stop in the background of your everyday life, what song would it be?
What is your favorite hobby?
A
Hobbies – changes all the time – now with the weather cooling off, I would say a motorcycle ride.
Q
What is your biggest addiction or guilty pleasure?
A
Steven has over 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate market. Prior to joining Colliers International, he was a top producing commercial real estate Lender in Nevada and the Commercial and Builder Executive for Chicago Title. Today, it is making memories at Arizona Cardinal football games with my boys Sam & Jack.
Q
If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do?
A
I would be with my wife Allison, my boys Sam & Jack, and my 3 dogs Stella, Lola, and Charlie in Park City, Utah.
