What Home Means to me Many of us should know these few words “there is no place like home” and that is how I feel or think about my home. Everyone needs a place to feel relaxed and that’s another feeling of my home. I feel safe, comfortable and relaxed in my home. One thing I thought of is that we love our homes because we have lived there for a while so we are already adapted to our home. That's true but apart from that there is something very special about a house that we all or some of us don’t know. In my opinion, I would say what makes you feel good, safe, relaxed or have a good impression about your house is how you make yourself adapt to it. There is nothing different between two homes but many people see differences between a big house and an averaged height house why? In addition, there is a main factor that makes a house a home. Once, a girl named Fiyin explained to me that feelings make up a home and it was from this sentence she made that gave me lots of deeper thoughts about a home and feelings. There are many feelings required in a home but the main two for me are: love and safety. Love: there must be love required among the family members or there would be no home. When I said there must be love I didn’t mean that there can’t be arguments. There can be arguments but not toxic ones. One natural occurrence in a home is siblings arguing or bantering among one another but after they are done wrestling one another (it is not always restricted to wrestling), they still form a strong bond like my sister and I. We would always fight and argue with each other and in that case my mother never wants to interfere (that brings it to mind; it has been a long time we have had a fight or arguments). In my opinion I think siblings squabbles and arguments make more room for love sometimes. Safety: this feeling is very important because without this feeling you can’t feel comfortable or relaxed. When it comes to safety, your mind should be at rest, no bad thoughts, no worries but that does not mean you should not lock your door especially when you are home alone or when you are going to bed. You ought to have a safe mind with positive thoughts and also be careful and mindful of the people you bring to your home. The safety of one is the safety of every other member of the family. There are a whole lot more to consider when it comes to my home. For certain, one thing I really dislike is comparing homes. When a big, bright and colourful house is seen, they start differentiating it with their homes. Your home is in your heart and you are king in it. I will wrap this up by saying what a home means to me, “A home is a place you can put your trust in. A safe place, a place of relaxation and a place of innumerable feelings. A place where I matter."
