2 Beware of tricks and traps

You will need to take care. Castles are designed to be tricky. It might be tempting to attack these gates – but this barbican will be well defended. There may be a drawbridge and portcullis gates that drop quickly. The idea is to trap you in a killing zone – so be careful. the barbican
murder holes These holes are placed in ceilings above gateways. The castle’s defenders will use them to drop all kinds of deadly nastiness on top of you.
towers Towers like these let defenders shoot in all directions. There’ll be nowhere for you to hide from deadly arrows or musket balls. Towers may also have a base that spreads out, called a talus. Getting close to do proper damage will be difficult.
