Giving visibility and representation to all our readers

Collins Big Cat aims to include characters from a range of ethnic and social backgrounds, tell stories about people with differing abilities and profile positive female role models. This boosts self-esteem and engagement for all children and promotes acceptance and kinship. By reading fiction and non-fiction that represents us all, children will develop a greater understanding of the world and of themselves.

How does Big Cat reflect a diverse readership?

Our authors and illustrators

Big Cat is proud to work with brilliant authors and illustrators. Authors are thoughtfully paired with illustrators to ensure authentic representation.

Our partners

Big Cat works with a range of charities and organisations for expert perspectives on a range of themes.

" It's so lovely for our limb different children to see themselves represented in a book and doing the same things as all the other children there. We work hard to raise awareness of limb difference and we are grateful to Collins for helping us to normalise what it's like to live with a limb difference."

JANE HEWITT, TRUSTEE OF THE LIMBBO FOUNDATION
