The Day of the Driller 1 The Subway caves in One morning, Shinoy woke up. It was Monday, and he had had a late night watching films. He couldn’t even open his eyes! They felt glued shut. In fact, they were so glued that he couldn’t see the newspaper headline that his Dad was packing to deliver. “SUBWAY CAVES IN’’ it said. “Look at this, Shinoy” his Dad said. “The subway has caved in.” Shinoy looked at his father in utter shock. “How?” he asked. “They say that there was a thunderstorm, but I’m not sure,” Dad replied. Shinoy suddenly felt much more awake. He would catch up with Toby and solve the mystery. Mum looked at Shinoy and said, “I thought you would be tired!’’ Shinoy thought he would respond to this by saying something like “Well I’m fine actually Mum, so you should probably let me stay up that late every night!” but he decided to do that another day. Besides, there was something going on and he was going to find out. Later that day he and Toby caught up together and Shinoy told him the story. “Maybe, there were

2 Shockwave The next thing they knew, they were being forced to dig. When Shinoy saw S.N.A.I.R, he screamed into his phone “Chaos Crew, call to action!’’ Lazlo appeared out of thin air. “What shall I get if I help you?” he said. “Shush!” said Shinoy urgently. But it was too late. S.N.A.I.R ran up shouting “Driller, Activate!” A giant robot 50 feet wide and 90 feet tall rushed towards them. It charged at Lazlo and he disappeared completely. It charged at Shinoy instead. But Lazlo tripped it up. He tripped up S.N.A.I.R and all was safe.
