Many Paso Robles Events Set to Return After Two Years Olive Oil and Lavender Festivals combined again this year, starting on May 7 By KARYL LAMMERS Paso Robles Main Street Association

W

e’re four months down and eight months to go in 2022. It seems like everything in life is changing rapidly. Remember, yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to manage. The secret of “change,” I’ve been told, is to focus all our energy not on fighting the old but on building the new! Check your calendar; some of your favorite events are returning this month after over two years. Our downtown city park is again hosting one of the largest events of the year on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. “The Olive Oil and Laven-

SPORTS

der Festivals” are combined for everyone’s pleasure. The wonderful smell of lavender fills the park along with vendors selling everything, even plants. The olive oil vendors will have a competition while selling everything olive. There will be additional vendors with a variety of wares, something for everyone!! On Sunday, May 8, the Olive and Lavender Farms will have an Open House with tours and specials throughout! What a perfect Mother’s Day outing for the whole family! The Paso Robles Event Center (we will always refer to it as “the fairgrounds”) is center stage for a couple of large public and community events in May. On the 14th, from 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., The SLO Sheriff ’s Rodeo and Concert will fill the stands for the first time in several years. This will be a fun-filled evening of food, beverage, music, and local rodeo celebrities! Yeehaw! Y’all come!

The Friday Night Cruise is back on May 27 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Spring Street. On the following day, the Downtown City Park fills with classic cars, music, and vendors from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Come and enjoy the camaraderie and vote for your favorites. Thank

you, Golden State Classic Car Club, for making it happen. For info, call (805)712-1907 or goldenstateclassics.org. Our Concerts in the Park are returning, The Fair is back, and more events will be announced. The feel of small-town America is still in Paso. Sometimes we are so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are. The trick is to enjoy life; the mere sense of living is joy enough! See you downtown!
