Class Levels & Registration Info
Please read all registration procedures and related policies carefully. You may register online or by phone. Full payment is due upon enrollment. Checks, cash, money orders, and all major credit cards are accepted.
Registration should be made as soon as possible. Class size is limited and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Full classes are indicated online and will be communicated via email or over the phone.
ONLINE
Use our website (fac.coloradocollege.edu/bemis) to register for an art class at the Bemis School of Art today! Search all of our available classes using key words, course code numbers, class mediums, age group, instructor, or day of the week. Click on the class you’d like to register for to read the full description; review date, time, and location information; download your supply list, and add the class to your cart. Then, simply click Proceed to Checkout to complete our registration form and process payment.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

CLASS LEVELS
Level A – All levels welcome. Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium Level I – This class is for those with some familiarity with the medium. This could include informal use of the medium outside of the classroom. Level II – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium Level III – This class is for those who have significant experience in the medium — two or more classes or a year or more of experience. Level IV – This class is for those with advanced skill or knowledge in the medium. This could include four or more classes or several years of experience. Student should be highly motivated and self-directed. Some classes in this level will require a portfolio review and/or approval of the instructor. Registration implies the responsible party understands the course levels above and has selected a course that matches their skill level. Students who are identified as being enrolled in a class above their actual level will be encouraged to move into a class that better fits their level of skills.
These in-person offerings allow for one student or a limited number of students to receive personalized instruction in a variety of mediums, unless stated otherwise. All students must follow COVID-19 precautions outlined on the Fine Arts Center safety guideline webpage. All students and instructors must wear masks or face coverings that cover one’s nose and mouth at all times while inside any of our buildings, in addition to providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their course. Do not attend an in-person course or workshop if you or a member of your household has been diagnosed with COVID-19, has been exposed to COVID-19, or are showing any COVID-19 symptoms of illness.
Additionally, we ask that you arrive for in-person classes on time and promptly leave when class ends. Please do not enter Bemis School of Art buildings until your class begins. No additional visitors are permitted in the buildings at this time.

Unique Pitchers and Platters
Instructor: Rui Haagen Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium Create a pitcher and platter set that expresses your personal uniqueness! Learn basic slab construction techniques to hand build plant, animal, or abstract themed platters using templates, texturing tools, and textured leaf molds. You’ll also learn the more complex process of building a pitcher using textured slabs with flat pattern templates. Underglazing, staining, and overglazing are taught to suit this project. REGISTER FOR A1 Tantalizing Textured Mugs
Instructor: Rui Haagen Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium Practice slab construction to hand build tantalizing mugs from textured clay slabs. Build mugs that have three or four feet, or build four-sided full-bodied forms using fold-up flat patterns. You will not be able to resist filling your mugs with your favorite beverage! Instructor: Rui Haagen Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium. Explore slab construction to hand build whimsical lidded boxes from textured clay slabs. Move from flat to free-standing using simple measurements and your own handmade flat patterns. These boxes are pure joyful self-expressive whimsey! Supply list online. Pleasing Pitchers
Instructor: Rui Haagen Level 0 – This class is for the true beginner with no prior experience in the medium Learn slab construction to hand build a pleasing large, medium, or small pitcher from textured clay slabs. Move from flat to free-standing using simple measurements and flat patterns. Further embellish your pitcher with decorative elements made from coils that are attached to bodies, handles, and spouts. PHOTOGRAPHY
Instructor: Angela Crews Level I – This class is for those with some familiarity with the medium. This could include informal use of the medium outside of the classroom. Spend four hours learning to refine your black & white darkroom printing skills with private instruction in contrast filters, splitfilter printing, and/or cropping/positioning for artful presentations depending on the student’s skill level and goals. This darkroom experience will help you bring your printing skills to the next level, and you will be encouraged to produce prints that you will be excited to enter into local photography exhibitions and competitions.
