DINING SECRETS RESERVATION
PLEASE
Many restaurants no longer require reservations. Yet, it’s always best to ask instead of risking a long wait or being turned away. This is especially true if your party is large or you have an unusual request.
A Restaurant who doesn’t normally require reservations often take them on busy weekends or holidays. When you make a reservation, honor it and be on time. No shows cost a restaurant money and create delays for other diners.
A wonderful and unique place to drink, relax and enjoy a self-grilled steak!
Near the banks of the Blue River, in Silverthorne is the oldest restaurant in Colorado, The Mint Steakhouse. This rustic steak and seafood restaurant, who’s building and atmosphere reflect the rich history of Colorado, dates back to 1862. To put it in perspective, that is one year after Colorado became a US Territory and fourteen years before it was admitted as a state.
It’s first drinking establishment was the Jack Ryan’s Saloon where thirsty miners relaxed between shifts. Over the years the Mint Building survived many disasters and today is the home of the Mint Steakhouse, featuring a seasoned Lava Rock Grill where you cook your own steaks, seafood and chops.
The Mint serves only the finest quality USDA Choice meats, offering the biggest, best quality steaks at the best price out there. The meat is prime, and with little effort and a lot of fun, you will enjoy a great meal cooked exactly to your taste. Their all you can eat salad bar, wide range of sides and homemade teriyaki sauce will make your meal complete. The owners are more than happy to guide you through the grilling process from start to finish.

RECIPESOFTHEROCKIES
KNOWING HOW YOU LOVE RECIPES, WE’VE GATHERED A UNIQUE SAMPLING OF RECIPES FROM SOME OF OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS.
LOUISANA CAJUN COOKING
Authentic Cajun food is not necessarily hot and highly peppered. It is a blend of many seasonings created by people of many races and backgrounds. French, Spanish, Acadian, African American, Indian and Cajun. Here is a classic Cajun dish, Shrimp Etouffee, that is not hard to make at home.
What to Wear When Eating Out
Dress codes in Colorado reflect our casual western life style of boots and jeans, and very few restaurants will turn you away because of dress. A few of the more exclusive restaurants where the tables are set with white linens, fresh flowers and sparkling crystal, require your best bib and tucker. When in doubt, over dress or call ahead and inquire. Keep in mind that your dress determines how you are treated.
Sending it Back
There is an art to sending back food and wine that is not cooked to your specifications. The restaurant wants you to know when something is not right. Never loose your temper. If there is something wrong, tell your waitperson right away, in a firm , calm, rational manner. Don’t eat or drink it then complain. In most cases the issue will be resolved right away. If you find your waitperson to be indifferent, ask for the manager or owner and quietly make it clear you want a replacement. If you don’t happen to like your selection, just make the best of it. You can’t expect a
restaurant to make up for your lack of judgement. You have a right to expect a good experience, please don’t leave a restaurant with any unspoken grievances.
HOT TIPS
Think of your tip as a way of showing appreciation for good service. The rule of thumb is to leave 15% of the total bill for average service and 20% for exceptional service. On the other hand , if you receive service with a snarl instead of a smile, leave a 10% tip. If you leave nothing at all the waitperson will assume you’re just ignorant and not get the point. On your way out,
explain to manager that the service was bad and you want your 10% to be pooled so that the remaining staff members won’t suffer because of one bad waitperson: this gives you a chance to be nice guy and to register your complaint very effectively.

TANDOOR-E-AZAM
The “Tandoor” is used for tandoori meat preparation and baking tandoori breads. It is an earthenware pot, which is about four feet deep. The upper half slopes inward, thus presenting an opening about a foot in width. It is fired and heated with charcoal. The tandoori preparations tend to have a unique “earthy” taste about them!
INDIA’S VEGETARIAN KITCHEN
Since the medieval ages, India has been the cradle of vegetarianism therefore, it is not surprising to find the choicest and most delicious vegetable preparations. Even the humblest of vegetables are coaxed into a rare delicacy, and can take their place at the most lavish dinner table.

India’s Restaurant has consistently been ranked among the top Indian restaurants in Denver and is often referred to as the best Denver Indian restaurant by its followers.
Indian cuisine is the general term for the wide variety of cooking styles from India. Indian food is almost always prepared with fresh ingredients along with delicate mixtures of many different fresh and dried spices
ROTI (INDIAN BREADS)
Indian breads are unique unto themselves. They have no counterpart in English or continental cookery. Unlike the breads of Western origin, Indian breads are not all leavened. Tandoori roti is baked in the tandoor, and is most popular in Punjab due to he fact that they are real delicious if consumed while still hot.

TABLE FOF ONE
DON
Because of the post-covid boom in business travel, especially by women, single diners no longer feel that they must apologize for eating alone. Now days, restaurants realize that one happy customer might just return with six or more. Call ahead to make reservations, letting the maître d’ know you’ll be dining alone and want to be seated promptly at a booth or table against a wall. A good place for people watching, out of the flow of traffic.
If reservations are not an option, a single diner must be pleasantly assertive, telling the host the type of table you prefer. Most wait people do all they can to make single diners feel at home, so don’t hesitate to make light conversation. Now is the time to treat yourself to something different and special, such as crepes flambe, or Caesar salad prepared table-side. It’s not only fun for you and everyone around you, but someone will be pampering you with special attention. In a more casual restaurant, many business people report that reading a magazine or newspaper makes them feel more comfortable.
’T LET DINING ALONE KEEP YOU FROM ENJOYING A GREAT MEAL AND A BIT OF LUXUARY!
COMMUNITY TABLE
Some casual restaurants have a community table where single diners are seated together for company and conversation. Check with the host to see if this is an option. When it’s time to pay the bill, most single diners prefer paying at their table. If the policy is to pay the cashier, most waitpersons will let single diners pay at the table. Relax and enjoy!

AMERICAN REVOLUTION IN BEER
BREWING, A NEARLY LOST ART IN AMERICA IS BACK AND IT’S BAD!
Known for our independent way of thinking, Americans are demanding freedom from stale, bland, uninteresting commercial beer. Like our forefathers (Thomas Jefferson had his own brewery and George Washington’s favorite brew was Porter) beer enthusiasts want the distinctive taste of American made genuine craft-brewed beer.
The brewing industry has evolved at an astonishing rate. Buy a microbrew and you get a remarkable brew not found anywhere else. There are a wide spectrum of gourmet brews, including fresh draft lagers, amber ales, stout, porter and wheat beer. These tasty elixirs, who’s recipe dates back 10,000 years, has made and exciting revival.
