ALTERNATIVE BIOGRAPHIES MARTIN HERMAN, conductor Martin Herman has appeared as guest conductor with symphony orchestras in North America, Europe, Australia, and Canada. His most recent engagements include the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra with Windborne’s “Music of the Rolling Stones” and “Music of the Eagles.” He recently guest-conducted Das Sinfonie Orchester Berlin at the Berlin Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal and continues as music director and arranger for “Classical Mystery Tour” in recent performances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the Sydney Opera House, Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and Florida Orchestra. Martin also served as music director and conductor with Downtown Opera in Long Beach, California, conducting premieres of new operas in the U.S. and the Czech Republic. In the fall of 2009, he was conductor and music director at LaMaMa Theatre in New York City where he led performances of his oneact opera, The Doctor, based on Chekhov short stories. He has served as assistant conductor with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and conductor of the Berkeley Young Musicians Program Orchestra and U.C. Berkeley Summer Orchestra. Additionally Mr. Herman has conducted several orchestra crossover projects in Amsterdam and Berlin. Mr. Herman studied conducting and composition at Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of California, Berkeley and spent two years in Paris, France on a Fulbright Grant and U.C. Berkeley Ladd Prix de Paris where he worked as conductor and composer with the “New American Music in Europe” and “American Music Week” festivals. He has received recognition for his work in the promotion of international cultural exchange from the Trust for Mutual Understanding, New York City.
BRODY DOLYNIUK, vocals Brody Dolyniuk remembers mimicking voices even as a child, listening to old records and tapes. He is a gifted, self-taught musician, capable of playing several instruments, with a particular knack for capturing the voices and mannerisms of classic characters from music, TV, and movies. His first professional gigs were at piano bars in several U.S. cities, where he learned to charm audiences and expand his musical repertoire. With a longing to perform the music of the many rock bands that inspired him, Brody assembled Yellow Brick Road, unquestionably Las Vegas’ most successful classic rock band. Since 1997, YBR has been reshaping the casino entertainment scene by bringing a rock concert atmosphere to showrooms previously reserved for Top-40-style lounge acts. Along the way, Brody has made numerous radio and TV appearances, and earned a spot in the finals of two national singing competitions, and even self-produced several large rock production-style shows utilizing multimedia, lasers, comedy and special effects. In 2007, Brody lent his vocal talents by singing several tracks on the mega-hit video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and has already done several more for the new Konami game Rock Revolution. ALTERNATIVE BIOGRAPHIES Brody joined Windborne Music in 2009 as vocalist for the Music of Queen show, but has proven to be versatile enough to become the lead on our Rolling Stones, The Who, U2 shows (and is an on-call stand-in for several others including Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd). As a devout classic rock fan, Brody’s enthusiasm, vocal ability and on-stage energy were the perfect fit Windborne Music’s Symphony shows, and continue to win over audiences around the globe.
DAN CLEMENS, bass/vocals Dan Clemens has been playing bass since the age of 13. A 1989 graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has performed in bands throughout the United States. In 1993 he formed “Waterworks” which received the Budweiser Best Unsigned Band sponsorship for the next two years. Clemens has also recorded Radio and Television jingles along with independent music CD’s. He has toured with the Virginia Opera and performed with the Virginia Symphony and Chorus. His bands have opened up for various musical acts including Fleetwood Mac, Little Feet, Del Amitri , The Romantics, and The Hooters. Clemens has also performed with Elliot Easton of The Cars and Robbie Krieger of The Doors. A bass player with Windborne Music since it’s beginning he has played with orchestras all over the world in cities such as Atlanta, Denver, Detroit, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Kuala Lumpur.
POWELL RANDOLPH, drums Powell has been a professional musician and instructor for over 14 years. A 1989 graduate of Berklee College of Music, Powell majored in song writing with a concentration in percussion performance. Powell’s classical/orchestral resume includes performances with the Buffalo Philharmonic, The Virginia Symphony, and the Virginia Opera. As a studio musician, he has played on countless recordings... film scores, jingles and CDs for a wide range of clients. Powell can be heard on the score for the remake of Quo Vadis for Premier Pictures playing a wide range of percussion instruments. Additionally, Powell is an instructor in all styles and all levels on drum set as well as music theory, site reading and composition.

ALTERNATIVE BIOGRAPHIES GEORGE CINTRON, guitar/vocals Having grown up in New York, George has played in numerous bands throughout the Tri-State area since 1976. In 1981 George founded “Cintron.” Developing the band into one of the top live acts around, he played over 1500 shows including appearances with Zebra, Twisted Sister, Rat Race Choir, Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Perry, Edgar and Johnny Winter and Mountain. He released a self-titled EP in 1983. For three years George performed Guitar and vocals for Enrique Iglesias. Over the course of three world tours, he performed over 150 concerts and numerous television programs, including The Tonight Show and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve Special. Milestones include playing Madison Square Garden and The American Music Awards. In 1995 he was a founding member, along with Danny Miranda and Bobby Rondinelli, of Pyramid. The group is still together. In 2000 he joined the West coast tour of the Trans Siberian Orchestra for their annual tour. George is an accomplished studio musician having recorded with artists including Blue Oyster Cult, Leslie West, Danger Danger and The Good Rats. In 2004 we were fortunate enough to have George join Windborne’s Music of Led Zeppelin Tour but during the summer of 2005, George was on hiatus from the show and headed to Las Vegas to perform in the “Queen” based show “We Will Rock You.” He returned to the tour in October of 2005. George has been involved with writing and recording various original projects since 2000.
JUSTIN AVERY, keyboard/vocals Justin Avery was born in Traverse City, Michigan where he grew up watching music in his Dad’s nightclub Dill’s Olde Town Saloon. He was exposed to all kinds of music in the nightclub, rock, blues, R&B, jazz etc. Along with being a club owner, his dad played guitar, sang and put together extravagant shows. His mother was also a prolific artist & painter. Justin was brought up with music and always had an affinity for performing, writing and recording music. Justin has performed with artists Sheila E., Katy Perry, The Emotions, Billy Ray Cyrus, Terrence Howard (actor, “Iron Man”), Naturi Naughton (actor/singer, “FAME”), Kenna, Lea Michelle (“Glee”) and MEAT LOAF. Justin was also an arranger for the last two seasons of AMERICAN IDOL (20192020). MAGIC CIRCLE MIME COMPANY Magic Circle Mime Company is regarded as one of today’s premier family attractions. Its highly acclaimed performances, which unite the concert orchestra with visual theater, are consistently praised for imaginative and innovative content. Magic Circle Mime Company performs with nearly every major orchestra in North America and has performed on numerous occasions with the symphony orchestras of Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Montreal, Saint Louis, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg; the Cleveland Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and Philadelphia Orchestra; and on more than a dozen occasions at The Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts with the National Symphony Orchestra. 2016 marked the fifth appearance at the National Arts Centre of Canada. Magic Circle Mime Company also has a growing reputation outside North America. They have performed with orchestras in Australia, China, Colombia (SA), Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain and Taiwan. International festival appearances include the International Children’s Festivals of Beijing, Shanghai and Taiwan. In 2018 they performed for the first time in Denmark with both the Aalborg Symfoniorkester and Aarhus Symfoniorkester. Magic Circle Mime Company is the creative partnership of Maggie Petersen and Douglas MacIntyre. Both artists have backgrounds in theater and instrumental music, and have utilized that training to create their highly regarded programs. The newest production, “Orchestra from Planet X,” explores the many influences that helped create the music of the New World.
SCOTT O'NEIL, conductor As a conductor, Scott O’Neil recently completed a nine-year tenure as Resident Conductor with the Colorado Symphony in Denver. During his time there he performed with some of the classical world’s elite soloists, such as Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Pinchas Zukerman, Lang Lang, Van Cliburn, Christopher O’Riley, Cameron Carpenter and Sharon Isbin, as well as leaders in the larger musical world, such as Steve Vai, Chris Botti, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Tracy Silverman, Eileen Ivers, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Folds, Ingrid Michaelson, Amos Lee, Rufus Wainwright, Gregory Alan Isakov, Devotchka, The Lumineers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Susan Egan and Will Chase. Mr. O’Neil has also created and developed an extensive series of concerts, entitled Inside the Score, which combine art, entertainment and enlightenment to engage audiences in explorations of a wide variety of music and ideas. Under the umbrella of Inside the Score fall a number of sub-series, including biography (Letters from Mozart, The Best of Beethoven, Brahms: A Life in Music, Rachmaninoff: From Tragedy to Triumph), individual masterpieces (Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony – This I Believe!, Eroica!, Beethoven’s Fifth, Stravinsky’s Petrushka, Debussy’s La mer, the “The Debussy Code”) and a cross-genre concert – Shuffle – which includes everything from Bach, Elgar, and Prokofiev to Metheny, Björk, and Philip Glass, as well as a feature concert with cross-over artist Kip Winger. In this vein, O’Neil has also presented Masterworks programs with “cross-over” elements, notably featuring Victor Wooten, performing the premiere of his own Bass Whisperer concerto, co-written with Conni Ellisor. Mr. O’Neil’s engaging manner in addressing audiences has led to extensive speaking engagements, including a TED-talk on music he composed for Arrow Electronics. As an arranger/orchestrator, Mr. O’Neil has created and orchestrated numerous works for the Colorado Symphony (Arrow: Five Years Out! – an original composition, Pat Metheny’s “The First Circle” as well as Minuano, Björk’s Overture, “107 Steps” and “New World,” a live version of Philip Glass’s Changing Opinions); he has also written orchestrations for Ingrid Michaelson, Eileen Ivers and Bela Fleck. Scott O’Neil continues to guest conduct and to lead his own ensemble, the Rosetta Music Society, in Denver, creating new, innovative programming and constantly seeking to draw wider audiences to live performances of music from Bach to today’s cutting-edge artists.
YI ZHAO, violin Born in Henan, China, Yi Zhao joined the Colorado Symphony as Assistant Concertmaster in 2014. Since joining the Symphony, Zhao has taken active roles to enrich the musical culture of Colorado. She has appeared as a solo artist with major community orchestras such as Lakewood, Broomfield, and Littleton Symphony Orchestras, and is a frequently featured chamber musician at the Englewood Arts, Walden Chamber Music Society (Salida), and Epic (Colorado Springs) Series. During summertime Zhao performs at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson, Wyoming. The Festival Orchestra is comprised of musicians from top orchestras around the world, and Zhao is proud to represent the Colorado Symphony among its ranks. Prior to her invitation to the Tetons, Zhao and her colleagues, Coleman Itzkoff and Andrew Staupe, have been invited to the 2014 La Jolla Music Festival as the Pegasus Trio. There she has shared the stage with many world-renown artists such as Cho-Liang Lin, Yefim Bronfman, Inon Barnatan, Alex Kerr, Desmond Hoebig, Richard O’Neill, Leonard Slatkin, and the Miró Quartet. In addition, she has performed with Kiri Te Kanawa and Jose Carerras at the Sun Festival in Singapore and concert series at the Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and the Peabody Institute with Michael Kannen. Zhao received her Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Qian Zhou at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore in 2007 and earned her Master’s under the guidance of Cho-Liang Lin at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University in May 2013. During these times she was also a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center and Music Academy of the West, and worked with other renowned pedagogues such as Pamela Frank, Emmanuel Ax, Glenn Dicterow, Jorja Fleezanis, and Kathleen Winkler. Zhao performs on a 2020 Collin Gallahue violin.

FAMILY BIOGRAPHIES ARMANDO CONTRERAS, baritone Praised for “the easy caramel syrup of his voice” (Opera Today), MexicanAmerican baritone Armando Contreras is quickly becoming a standout in the world of opera. In 2021, Mr. Contreras was a part of the world premiere of Aleksandra Vrebalov and Deborah Breevort’s The Knock, singing the lead role Lt. Roberto Gonzales with The Glimmerglass Festival. Other highlights of his current season include making his debut with Salt Marsh Opera as Moralès in Carmen, reprising the role of Diego Rivera in Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World with Central City Opera, joining Opera Steamboat in The Three Feathers as The King/Rat and making his Denver Philharmonic debut in L'elisir d'amore as Belcore. This summer, Mr. Contreras will return to The Glimmerglass Festival to sing a lead role in the world premiere of the Rossini pastiche, Tenor Overboard, and cover Moralès in Carmen. In 2022/2023, Mr. Contreras will sing Marco in Gianni Schicchi and Council in Trial by Jury with Salt Marsh Opera. He will also make his company debut with Cincinnati Opera in the near future. In the 2020/2021 season, Mr. Contreras was seen as Ernesto in the US premiere of Bizet’s Don Procopio with Pacific Opera Project, Il Conte in Le nozze di Figaro and Marcello in La bohème with Boulder Opera, and Diego Rivera in Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World with Opera Steamboat. In the summer of 2021, he covered the role of Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with The Glimmerglass Festival. 2019/2020 credits include Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone with Opera Fort Collins and Estaban in En Mis Palabras with Central City Opera. He was also set to perform as Guglielmo in Così? and cover Argante in Rinaldo with The Glimmerglass Festival in the summer of 2020 (COVID19). During the 2018/2019 season, he was seen as the Imperial Commissioner in Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s Madama Butterfly, Nardo in La finta giardinera and Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus with University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and covered Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. He also appeared as John Proctor (The Crucible), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) and Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) in the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Artist Scenes program. Equally comfortable in concert repertoire, he has performed as the bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Missouri Oratorio Society and Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Kansas City Ballet. He also appeared as Papageno in a concert featuring operatic selections by Mozart with The Cleveland Orchestra. Mr. Contreras has had extensive training including at The Glimmerglass Festival as a Young Artist, Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist, Lyric Opera of Kansas City as a Young Artist and Central City as a Studio Artist. Accolades from the vocal competition circuit include Mr. Contreras receiving the Top Prize after completion of the Central City Young Artist Program, being named a finalist in the 2020 Kyrenia Opera Vocal Competition and participating in the 2019 Dorothy Lincoln Smith Voice Competition where he was the Regional Winner. A strong proponent of education, Mr. Contreras holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master’s degree in the same major from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
