Nepal has been part of the Color by Amber family since the very beginning. From our first day, our Full Circle artisans have been sun-drying fray paper, cleaning and dying raffia, and hand-spinning silks that become the interlayers of our jewelry.

And as we have grown, the Full Circle program in Nepal has helped our artisans to grow with us. More than 70 women have completed vocational training programs so they can access more job opportunities. Many of our artisans' children have received funding for their educations. A new wastewater treatment system has brought them fresh water. We have been touched to watch them gain confidence, embrace new challenges and bring stability to their communities. This past spring, Nepal was impacted by two devastating earthquakes, one measuring 7.8 magnitude on April 25th and another measuring 7.3 magnitude on May 12th. More than 80% of our artisans' homes were damaged. Proving their resilience and strength of spirit yet again, our artisans have started rebuilding their homes, all while still handcrafting interlayers for us with care. We get daily updates from our artisans, and they're still smiling and laughing, still as strong as ever - they are confident that they'll get through this, and so are we. We continue to help our artisans: 10% of the net proceeds from our Company goes back to the Full Circle program to help our artisans both in Nepal and around the world. For each piece of Nepalese jewelry we sold in May and June, 2015, we donated $1.00 to Vital Edge Aid, a relief effort that is helping our artisans recover from the earthquakes. Our Stylists have also been donating directly to Vital Edge Aid, demonstrating once again that we are so much more than just a jewelry company - we are a worldwide network of caring, driven women. Like any family, we stand together through times of challenge. We carry our artisans close to our hearts, and we hope you'll fall in love with their stories of strength and hope just like we have. 26

WHERE DOES YOUR FULL CIRCLE INTERLAYER COME FROM? From delicately pressed leaves to woven fabrics to hand-spun silk, nearly one-third of the interlayers in this catalog are hand made by our Full Circle artisans in remote villages around the world. In addition to purchasing these materials, we also donate 10% of our net proceeds to benefit all of our Full Circle initiatives. These programs help sustain a better life and a better future for these women through new skills, new opportunities, and a better living environment for their entire communities.
Banana Fiber, Nepal Husks that are gathered, dried, folded, and then woven between delicate threads.
Strand, Nepal The length-wise thread used as the base of loom-woven fabric. Raffia, Nepal Fibers that are harvested from raffia palm, then dried, cleaned, and hand-dyed.
NEPAL
Fray Paper, Nepal Pulp harvested from the Lokta tree that grows in the rural areas of Nepal, that is dyed, laid on screens, and sun dried.
Cotton Weave, Mexico Hand-woven cotton fabric from the Chiapas highlands in southern Mexico.
Bamboo Rings, Nepal Bamboo that is harvested, and then thinly-sliced and polished by hand to fit within our ecoresin.
MEXICO
Bear Grass, South Africa Grasses that grow naturally in South Africa that are gathered and dried. Ithemba, South Africa Hand-crocheted copper wiring and glass beads from South Africa.

Docey Weave, Nepal White and golden threads that are hand-woven on looms which require both the hands and feet to operate. The rhythm takes years of practice to perfect.
COLUMBIA Sisal Fiber, Columbia Fiber from the sisal plant that is harvested and intertwined by the indigenous people of Chia – the Muisce tribe – in Columbia.
CHINA
Leaves, China “Prayer leaves” that are gathered by Chinese farmers, and then delicately washed and hand-pounded to leave only the skeleton of the leaf.
NDEM
Organic Cotton, NDEM Locally grown, hand-dyed, and hand-sewn organic cottons from the village of NDEM, Senegal.
Silks, Nepal Hand-spun and dyed silk from Nepal that is laid down in organic patterns. The scraps from the bigger silk pieces are also gathered, and repurposed as additional interlayers.
Mohair, Northern Swaziland Fibrous threads that are woven on looms, and then hand-worked to create diverse patterns in the material.
Abaca, Indonesia Fibers pulled from the stock of an abaca tree, and then knotted into a continuous thread. They are then hand-dyed and woven on looms.
