EDITORIAL A global group of specialists As a research-driven manufacturer of consumable materials, COLTENE has always been searching for innovative solutions and clever concepts for tomorrow's practice routines. At the same time, the group of companies is constantly growing through strategic partnerships and strong alliances to be able to offer its customers that added quality, reliability and service. This is why the COLTENE Group strengthened its position last autumn with two well-known industry leaders. The Canadian infection control specialist SciCAN and the French endodontics experts MicroMega ideally complement the existing COLTENE product segment portfolio. Immediately, COLTENE now stands for three topics: 1. infection control, 2. tooth preservation and 3. treatment efficiency. The infection control specialist Within infection control as the first topic, COLTENE transforms – thanks to SciCan – to a comprehensive system provider for instrument reprocessing as well as surface cleaning and disinfection. The comprehensive portfolio includes state-ofthe-art ultrasonic cleaning equipment and solutions, thermal disinfection equipment and autoclaves, as well as high-quality cleaning and disinfection wipes for the dental practice. COLTENE is now broadening its focus from consumables to large-scale devices. Tooth preservation from the root to the crown Sustainable tooth preservation has always played a central role for COLTENE and forms the second product cornerstone. A well-rounded portfolio of restorative and endodontic systems for the preservation of vital and non-vital tooth substance includes first-class adhesives, composites and accessories, as well as outstanding root canal instruments, irrigation solutions and root canal filling materials. With MicroMega, the already highly innovative endodontics division will offer an even more customised range of files and endodontic equipment.
Smart and efficient aids And topic number three focuses on treatment efficiency. The wide range of different, sophisticated aids that dentists rely on every day includes high-precision impression materials, highquality wound care products and cotton wool products, as well as efficient suction cannulas and first-class rotary instruments. Of course, COLTENE will again be presenting various new products at the IDS 2019. BRILLIANT COMPONEER is the name of the latest addition to the BRILLIANT filling material family: owing to an improved formulation, the leading composite veneering system now shines even longer. The new BRILLIANT Crios Disc now also allows the efficient laboratory use of the innovative Reinforced Composite CAD/CAM material. The successful HyFlex EDM file system is extended by additional files for particularly difficult canals and suitable paper and gutta-percha points. And don't miss the presentation of the new Jeni endo motor by Prof. E. Pedullà during the trade fair. The following pages will give you a first impression of the spectrum of innovations and novelties. Please also visit us at www.coltene.com. Enjoy browsing!

RESTORATION
BRILLIANT COMPONEER® A Smile Made Brilliant Leading composite veneering system shines like never before Aesthetic anterior restorations in just one session – BRILLIANT COMPONEER makes it possible! Probably the most successful composite veneering system gives patients worldwide a radiant smile to take away with them immediately. Without impression taking or laboratory, directly adapted chairside and characterised individually. The application procedure is the same as for any classic restoration with composite. Due to the improved formula, BRILLIANT COMPONEER is now particularly long-lasting. Dentists use BRILLIANT COMPONEER for aesthetic anterior restorations: the newly formulated composite veneering system is as of now based on the sophisticated submicron filler technology of the high-performance composite of the same name, BRILLIANT EverGlow. The advantages have long been known: the material is characterised by a particularly durable high gloss. In addition, the extremely smooth surface can be polished to a high gloss in next to no time – for optimum results in the aesthetically demanding anterior tooth region. Even with a thickness of just 0.3 mm at their thinnest point, the veneers are convincing with their high stability.
4
"In my practice I now perform a restoration with COMPONEER almost every week. In my workshops, I am always surprised at how quickly first-time users learn how to manage the easy-to-process composite shells. Even aesthetically demanding anterior tooth restorations can be achieved in next to no time." Dr. med. dent. Patrizia Lucchi, Italy
"For me, minimally invasive preparations are the basis of every permanent therapy solution. I only have to remove very little healthy tooth substance for the comparatively thin and extremely stable composite veneers. This means that they can be used quickly and easily for a wide range of indications." Dr. med. dent. Sylvia Rahm, Germany
RESTORATION
From abrasion to discoloured teeth BRILLIANT COMPONEER are industrially manufactured composite shells for direct restoration. Dental and aesthetic corrections to individual teeth can therefore be carried out just as efficiently as complete anterior restorations. Depending on the indication and desired appearance, the dentist chooses from 3 different sizes and two enamel shades. The veneers are then simply attached with BRILLIANT EverGlow. Furthermore, they can also be customised easily. The range of applications includes:

BRILLIANT – the shining composite family All products of the BRILLIANT composite family impress with their excellent blending qualities. Choosing the right shade using the luting composite BRILLIANT EverGlow is also intuitive - due to the practical «Duo Shade» shade concept. In addition, the natural shade gradient of the tooth is skilfully reproduced by the progressive thickness of the translucent veneers towards the incisal edge.

RESTORATION
High-performance CAD/CAM composite – BRILLIANT Crios as bloc and disc The innovative Reinforced Composite CAD/CAM bloc for the fabrication of definitive inlays, onlays, fully anatomical crowns and veneers is consistently establishing itself on the Cerec market. The performance and versatility of BRILLIANT Crios, based on the gentle and flexible material properties, are particularly convincing for the users.
Flexible and gentle – both at the same time The adaptable dental material is also easy to polish, can be adapted at any time and demonstrates good abrasion resistance. Nonetheless the wear-resistant BRILLIANT Crios composite material proves to be extremely kind on opposing teeth compared with ceramic restorations after 1.2 million chewing cycles.
Flexural strength and shock-absorbing effect Due to the outstanding flexural strength and the modulus of elasticity, which is very similar to that of dentine, the CAD/CAM bloc is more flexible than ceramic. This avoids stress peaks and reduces the risk of chipping and cracking, both in fabrication, as well as in situ.
David Zweifel-Geller, dental technician: "Even tapered restoration margins of only 0.1 mm thickness can be ground perfectly without becoming chipped. Flaking or even cracks are truly a thing of the past." 6
Manfred Bildhäuser, dental technician: "In view of the marked quality awareness of many customers, one is of course delighted to deliver work to laboratories distinguished by a fantastic gloss."
Dr. Nicolas Rhode: "The dentinelike modulus of elasticity provides for a natural chewing feeling and is gentle on the opposite tooth at the same time."
RESTORATION
BRILLIANT Crios Discs With all these properties, the BRILLIANT Crios blocs combine all the advantages of an innovative submicron hybrid composite material with those of a CAD/CAM fabrication process for reliable, aesthetic and fast restorations without a separate firing process. The BRILLIANT Crios disc was developed to increase the use of this material in laboratories. It is offered in a standard diameter of 98.5 mm, can therefore be processed with standard milling machines and can already be selected in the software packages of several manufacturers. The two heights of 14 and 18 mm provide additional room for manoeuvre and ensure up to 30 restorations per disc.

ONE COAT 7 UNIVERSAL is an excellent choice The light-curing universal adhesive, which bonds reliably to composite, dentine and enamel as well as ceramic, metal and zirconium oxide, is virtually unbeatable. Therefore it was no surprise that ONE COAT 7 UNIVERSAL also received the Editors Choice Award from Dental Advisor and was awarded five out of five points! This is a special honour because this award is only bestowed on products with outstanding properties. In addition to its ease of use, the universal bond was also convincing due to its reliable adhesion and the associated minimised risk of postoperative sensitivities.

HyFlex™ EDM System with new file sizes Unlimited flexibility in use With a total of nine highly flexible HyFlex EDM file variants, COLTENE continues to expand its versatile HyFlex NiTi range.
21Â millimetres of manoeuvrability In addition to the standard lengths of 25 mm, all EDM series preparation files are now also available in a 21 mm working length. With the use of the more manoeuvrable, shorter files, comfortable working and superior preparation in a limited working space has quite literally become a secondary issue.
Additional files even for difficult canals Also new to the range are the HyFlex EDM 20/.05 preparation and the 15/.03 glide path files. This now allows friends of the flexible NiTi series to fully prepare more complex canal anatomies with the efficient EDM files.
For moderately curved canals, the new HyFlex EDM 20/.05 preparation file with the same taper allows minimally invasive, rapid preparation of the canal after creating a glide path with the 10/.05 glide path file. Then, as before, the actual preparation is performed with the HyFlex EDM OneFile universal file in size 25. The 15/.03 HyFlex EDM glide path file is used for heavily curved and very narrow canals, and ensures optimum shaping of the access cavity, even for S-shaped canals. For the further preparation of these usually very narrow
8
canals, the EDM 10/.05 glide path file and the 20/.05 preparation file are completely sufficient. The additional file sizes allow the proven modular HyFlex EDM file system to be used even more efficiently and quicker for fast and reliable instrumentation to even the most remote recesses.

Proven in over 500 studies ParaPost was developed more than 55 years ago. At that time it was the first standardised root post system ever. Since then, more than 500 studies have confirmed the clinical performance of these clever multi-talents. COLTENE's experience is particularly evident in the innovative design of the cylindrical ParaPost Taper Lux post: The rounded retention head geometry minimises shrinkage stress during polymerisation in the core build-up material. At the same time, the retention edges on the shaft increase mechanical grip. Owing to the triple head design, the posts can be adjusted quickly to the optimum length.
Break-resistant Titanium root posts score with their high break resistance: the special X-shape retention pattern acts as an efficient retention mesh. At the same time it serves as a drainage system to avoid apical back pressure caused by excess cement. The unique geometry strengthens the break resistance of the post. Light-conducting, resin-reinforced composite posts shine in aesthetically demanding restorations: They reflect the natural colour gradient of the tooth substance. They allow the use of light-curing cements and core build-up materials.
Post cementing
The perfect monobloc With the help of the standardised ParaPost system, all indications can be treated with a standard drill set. Using the matching 3-in-1 ParaCore material, the root posts are cemented, the core build-up is modelled and the restoration is securely fixed. ParaCore is a dual-curing, glass-fibrereinforced composite that creates an effective monobloc between the dentine, root post and crown. For a homogeneous, extremely long-lasting solution.

From watchmaking to the dental industry 2Shape and One Curve root canal shaping files embodie the very essence of technological finesse. They inherit the excellence in cutting very small parts that equip mechanical timepieces. The latter have punctated the long MicroMega‘s history, from watchmaking to the dental industry, while creating its strong branding identity.
Crafted from NiTi, designed and produced in-house to the most exacting standards in terms of quality, they developed their own specific personnality traits through different heat-treatments. There is not a better file than the other. “Exploring and feeling them allows you to select the one you identify with, the one which suits the best to your individual daily practice”.
Keep cutting control
2Shape T-Wire is a thermal processing that keeps NiTi in austenite phase, while enhancing cyclic fatigue resistance, in contrast to untreated metal. It increases the flexibility without compromising the cutting performance of the two active edges of the blade. 2Shape is specifically advocated to practitioners who enjoy utilizing a brushing motion for an improved contact with the dentin and more efficiently auger debris out of the canal. With 2Shape, dentists keep control of their technique with a gradual approach to the final taper.

TREATMENT AUXILIARIES
Haemostasis with Gelatamp forte – remarkably fast and safe Highly efficient haemostasis with Gelatamp forte Conscious and careful handling of the possible complications of blood coagulation is essential, particularly in surgical procedures. Haemostasis may otherwise easily become a challenge, even during routine procedures such as simple tooth extractions. This is where Gelatamp forte is highly effective: rapidly stopped bleeding improves the field of vision of the wound and shortens the treatment time. This allows a timely discharge of the patient after the procedure. Gelatamp forte can also be used for patients with blood coagulation disorders due to its properties.
Remarkably fast, remarkably safe
Accelerated haemostasis
Gelatamp forte is a slim gelatine sponge for haemostasis following surgical procedures. A patented process gives Gelatamp forte a particularly rough surface and increased porosity. Its special sponge structure has an activated capillary effect, i.e. immediate absorption of fluid and accelerated activation of the coagulation cascade after insertion into the wound. The 10 × 10 × 4 mm sponge thus differs significantly from other commercial gelatine sponges in terms of fluid absorption and haemostasis: immediately after application into the wound, the extremely thin sponge absorbs blood, accelerates the activation of the coagulation cascade and thus leads to rapid haemostasis.
Gelatamp forte reduces the time to haemostasis 2.5-fold compared to a standard gelatine sponge.* Time to haemostasis (expressed as n times of Gelatamp forte) 3 2.95

GI-MaskÂŽ 3D The scannable gingival mask material The use of a gingival mask is particularly important in the fabrication of implant-supported superstructures. GI-MASK 3D is a flexible gingival mask for dental implant and master models. The high-precision A-silicone with excellent flowability evenly envelops the abutments that are firmly fixed in the impression and thus guarantees a complete recording of the periodontal situation. It can be processed flexibly while working on the model and helps to obtain a dental prosthesis that fits as accurately as possible. Furthermore, it can be adjusted with the corresponding silicone cutter as well as being characterised by its very high elasticity and tear resistance.
18
The scannable properties of the gingival mask material ensure complete and powder-free digitalisation with all common desktop scanners. This makes GI-MASK 3D an important link in the CAD/ CAM process for fabricating dentures.
PROSTHETICS
AFFINIS® – the crowning achievement of A-silicones for perfect impressions The perfect impression is the key to accurately fitting restorations. The name AFFINIS expresses affinity, which refers to the key properties of the material. The exceptional flow properties and the high surface affinity in a moist environment, as well as the self-levelling consistency of AFFINIS, prevent air inclusions and form the basis for error-free impressions. With four AFFINIS correction or wash materials,
as well as a very wide range of tray materials, every user will find his/her preferred combination. Practice-oriented processing and setting times facilitate daily impression taking. For the treatment of risk patients you can be on the safe side and autoclave the impressions – everything is possible with AFFINIS.
AFFINIS PRECIOUS – gold and silver for precision impressions
Relaxed application - faster impressions
AFFINIS PRECIOUS is the premium correction or washing material in gold and silver. Both consistencies display self-levelling flow characteristics after application. Despite its good flow properties, the material is stable in situ and does not drip. The colour pigments silver and gold of AFFINIS PRECIOUS reflect light rays like a mirror and reduce light scatter. This increases the light-dark contrast at the impression edges and makes details easier to read.
In everyday practice, the setting behaviour of conventional impression materials repeatedly represents a compromise. A short working time in the mouth is accompanied by a short, hectic application time or it takes a long time because of the long curing characteristics. AFFINIS PRECIOUS has a processing time of up to 60 seconds – plenty of time, even for major tasks. AFFINIS PRECIOUS and AFFINIS tray materials have a matched dwell time in the mouth. The impression is cured safely and precisely in just 2 minutes.
