Columbia ONE is a one-year certificate in Biblical Studies. Along with Columbia’s core requirements, Columbia ONE students have the flexibility to choose electives from various disciplines and tailor the program to fit their desired educational outcomes. Whatever path you pursue, you will experience the very best in application-based academics and holistic learning.

Develop life-long friendships with fellow classmates as you journey together for a year of faith transformation. With Columbia’s core curriculum, Columbia ONE students will engage in authentic group discussion on a variety of relevant topics and explore how faith intertwines with real life. Columbia ONE students can also take advantage of extra-curricular activities including ministry teams, student committees and clubs, and athletics.

PRAXIS

Urban discipleship

Take your faith where culture is shaped.

Praxis is an eight-month discipleship program with an emphasis on faith and mission in an urban context. Praxis will take you to some of the most influential North American cities and lead you through a dynamic experience of cultural engagement, Christian community, and urban mission. With the combination of experiential learning, discipleship, and thought-provoking academics, Praxis will create the space and environment for you to actively integrate your faith with culture in all its complexity, challenge and opportunity. Socially Aware Praxis students engage with a number of ministries involved in finding positive solutions to the various social issues facing urban communities today.

Culturally Engaged As the epicenter of culture, students explore some of the most influential cities in North America including Vancouver, Seattle, and New York City.

QUEST Adventure Discipleship Belonging Learning Service

Start your quest Quest is an eight-month discipleship program that combines inspiring classroom studies with outdoor adventure in the context of an authentic and encouraging community. Your worldview will expand as you experience new challenges both inside and outside the classroom and you will be transformed spiritually, relationally, and intellectually as you radically pursue God and explore his vast creation. Wherever you are called, Quest will prove to be a valuable resource to draw from throughout your life.

Quest is a unique blend of inspiring classroom studies and outdoor adventure that provides a well-rounded, character-building experience. Some of the opportunities Quest students will participate in include: • • • •

BE EQUIPPED. LEAD will give you the tools to be an effective servant-leader no matter where your journey takes you. An innovative certificate program designed by leadership professionals, LEAD challenges and equips you to make the most of your unique potential for godly, skillful leadership. To be eligible for LEAD, you must have 1 year postsecondary studies or 2 years work experience.

BIBLICAL STUDIES Build a foundation that your life experience can stand on.

Columbia’s Biblical Studies program brings together practical knowledge and biblical interpretation skills, so that you can become confident in understanding God’s Word and his call on your life. Through indepth studies of the Old and New Testaments, you will gain a broadened perspective of what God wants for all creation. Join others on this exciting journey as we together face issues of justice and brokenness in our world.

Columbia provides you with engaging instruction, group interaction, and practical application activities, in the context of a close-knit community of students and faculty. Biblical Studies students can choose from a variety of minors to bring together their new skills along with hands-on practical experience. Biblical Studies graduates have pursued careers in vocational ministry as well as further education at the graduate level.

CAREGIVING & COUNSELLING Prepare for a rewarding career that is relational and rooted in helping others.

Columbia’s Caregiving & Counselling program offers students a foundational understanding of the human condition in preparation for a variety of helping professions. Go beyond the surface to uncover the individual needs, issues and hurts of people in today’s society and be present with others as they explore meaningful solutions and journey toward growth and well-being.

Featuring a unique combination of psychology and biblical theology, the Caregiving & Counselling program allows students to explore the field of social sciences in the context of a Christian community. Practical internships give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and prepare them for various professions in the helping field.

INTERCULTURAL STUDIES Expand your impact and develop a deeper understanding of God’s mission.

When you impact others, your own life will change! Columbia’s Intercultural Studies (ICS) program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical experience to minister effectively across cultures. You will be prepared to serve the diverse people in our world, whether locally or globally, and to humbly and authentically share God’s love.

Intercultural Studies students gain valuable experience in a variety of seminars and events on and off campus. Enriching courses offer insight and prepare students for ministry that resonates throughout all cultures. An eight month internship helps students hone skills, put theology into practice, and discern how God is gifting them to serve the local church worldwide.

OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP Develop leadership skills that will take you to new heights.

Columbia’s fully-accredited Outdoor Leadership program will equip you with the qualifications, experience, and knowledge you will need for a challenging and fulfilling career in Adventure Ministry, Adventure Tourism or Outdoor Education. Under the instruction of nationally certified experts, the combination of outdoor skills certification and Christian leadership training will refine your character and develop your leadership potential.

With its rushing rivers, rugged mountains, crystal clear lakes, and meandering trails, BC provides the ideal landscape for experiential outdoor leadership training. Gain the technical guiding and operating skills necessary to confidently lead in any outdoor setting. As a fully accredited program, graduates of Outdoor Leadership can find rewarding careers in the local and international tourism industry as guides and instructors.

With a holistic approach to worship ministry, Columbia’s Worship Arts program is unlike any other. Focusing beyond music to the heart of worship and laying strong biblical foundations, this specialized degree will empower students to lead with confidence. Explore the integration of faith and the arts while developing team skills and honing your artistic ability.

Through practical applications and working in collaboration with others, you will develop a lifestyle of worship as you fuel your passion for the arts and cultivate your God-given gifts to become an artist and a leader. Students enrolled in the Degree program will choose a concentration in their third year. Graduates from the Worship Arts program have gone on to pursue vocational ministry careers related to the arts.
