EXPLORE COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY

As a part of the body of Christ, we see the Columbia community stretching beyond the campus and into the local neighbourhoods, churches and communities in which our students serve. Getting involved is one of the best ways to ensure your experience at Columbia is enriched. We’ve highlighted just a few examples of ways to participate when you get here.

Student Council (STuCO)

Columbia Student Council exists to serve and lead the students of Columbia by being visible and visionary Christian leaders. Get involved with any of the StuCo committees and be a part of building a dynamic campus community.

Service Learning

Followers of Jesus know that service is a way of life; why should college be any different? Service Learning is built into every program at Columbia. Service Practicums and Internships help prepare students to make a lasting impact in the communities they serve.

Ministry Teams

Columbia has several ministry opportunities for students to get involved with. Whether it’s our on-campus worship meetings like Chapel and Vespers, or our traveling ministry team, our purpose is to encounter the living God in and through community.

Urban Mission Dynamics Urban Mission Dynamics (UMD) is a unique four-day urban plunge into the heart of the city of Vancouver, designed to expose all first year students to the joys and challenges of urban ministry and focus on growing a heart for the city. Students engage in a number of activities over their four days, including service projects at various mission and non-profit organizations, specifically serving the downtown eastside of Vancouver, along with involvement in local churches. The goal is for students to grow in their worldview and expand their concept of community.
