Urban Tour FAQs for Volunteers | Thursday April 5, 2012 | 5 pm – 8 pm Arrival Time/Parking Please arrive as soon as possible – the event time is starting earlier than originally planned. We need volunteers as early as 4:45 p.m. It is just fine if you cannot report until later. Where do I park? All parking garages are free after 6. Volunteers should park at the Palmetto Center/Marriott garage on Sumter. Parking is free. What Am I Doing? Report to Capitol Places, 1530 Main Street (aka Volunteer Central/Lounge) for your assignment. All volunteers are working at the information tables located on each block. You will answer questions, direct people, hand out trivia cards and welcome everyone. Get your best smile ready. Each table with have a radio to call back to Volunteer Central for questions you cannot answer. You may also call or text Katherine Swartz at 803.979.4097 A few volunteers will staff the door prize table – you will receive the trivia cards, review them to make sure they are mostly complete and put them in the bin. You will also help with the door prize drawings. Volunteers will be able to take breaks in shifts to enjoy our lounge, which will offer pizza, beer, sodas and water. Please be kind to your fellow volunteers when taking your break – no longer than 20 minutes, please! Rain Plan: There is a chance of rain so we will be sending you the game plan for rain later today. Door Prize Info How many locations do I have to go to in order to enter into the door prize drawing? 10 listed in the Trivia questionnaire. What time and where will the drawing take place? 7:45 p.m. at the stage on the 1300 block (corner of Main & Lady). Must turn in Trivia answers by 7:30 p.m. at the table in beside the stage at the 1300 block. Do I have to be present to win? No (Please make sure you fill out your contact information) If you are working the door prize table: please do not throw away any of the contact slips. Please leave slips in “raffle drum”.
Entertainment Who, what, when and where? See brochure/map Alcohol Am I allowed to drink on the sidewalk? o Volunteers: Yes, in our volunteer lounge located at Capitol Places. Please do not drink at your station (water exception) o Attendees: Yes as long as it is not glass and you remain on the 1200- 1700 blocks of Main Street (located between Gervais St. and Laurel St.) Where are ID checks? At the restaurants and hotels. Beer and wine sold at restaurants and hotels only. Bathrooms: Bathrooms are available for everyone at the following locations: Mac’s on Main, Sheraton Downtown Columbia Hotel, Columbia Marriott, Columbia Museum of Art, Nickelodeon, the Whig, or Tapp’s Arts Center. Bathrooms are also available for volunteers at our volunteer lounge located at Capitol Places. End of the event: At 7:45 p.m. you are free to leave your table. Please leave all the information including brochures, signs, etc. at your table. City Center Partnership’s yellow shirts will be by to get everything.
