HILLIARD AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

BUSINESS MONTHLY

Issue 9

February 2011

Chamber sets February luncheon Today’s students learn and interact with others very differently when compared to their parents. Did you know that today’s second graders are the future graduates of 2020? By that time, these graduates will enter a world that is a far cry from the one that exists even today – a world that will be exponentially more developed, more diverse yet connected, and highly competitive. Advanced technologies already make India and China our

next-door neighbors and these relationships will only become more involved yet transparent. In fact, by 2016, the largest English speaking country in the world will be China. In response to these changes, the Hilliard City School District has embarked on an unprecedented journey of self-assessment, discovery, and future planning. To ensure that our students are properly equipped to successfully compete in a highly competitive global work force,

over 150 staff members and representatives from the community worked collaboratively to research the district’s 2020 improvement initiatives. This critical product will serve as the road map to support our students on this very exciting and rewarding journey. On Feb. 25, please join us for lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Heritage Golf Club. Superintendent Dale McVey, assistant superintendent Andy Riggle, director

of secondary education Steve Estepp and director of elementary education Jill Menchhofer will be presenting an exciting and informative update on the district’s journey to the year 2020. Reservations are required and need to be made by Tuesday, Feb. 22. Please use the Chamber’s website, www.hilliardchamber.org, to make the reservations for the luncheon.
