Hace 35 años, Blas Daniel D’Angelo empezó trabajando en su natal Argentina como panadero, y ahora que inmigró a los Estados Unidos hace pasteles o tortas como él les llama, “Hacia tortas para los cumpleaños y para otras ocasiones especiales” dijo D’ Angelo, “A la gente le gustaban tanto que empezaron a pedir, así fue como empecé a venderlos”, y Oscar, quien es hijo del Sr. D’Angelo señaló “El primer encargo importante fue una torta para una quinceañera”. Blas y su esposa Margarita son quienes hacen las tortas, Margarita hornea los panes, y Blas los acomoda en capas rellenándolos con frutas como fresas, duraznos y piña, también les pone mermelada y crema.

“Las tortas son al estilo Argentino. Y la mayoría de los clientes son mexicanos”, recalcó. Sus hijos Omar y Claudia también ayudan con la preparación y la promoción de los pasteles, pero éstos no son su única especialidad “También preparamos alfajores de maicena, tortitas, raspadas y merengues”, dijo Claudia. A su negocio le llaman D’Angelo’s Bakery y se anuncian por Internet en www.dangelosbakery.com, pero también organizan días de prueba; donde en una tienda ofrecen rebanadas para que la gente los conozca. “Nuestro sueño es poder tener una panadería, es poder poner un local para la elaboración de nuestros pasteles, y nuestro gran surtido de pan dulce”, dijo D’Angelo.

El informe de crédito

detalla su historial financiero VICTORIA NUNES FIFTH THIRD Un Informe de crédito es un documento que indica su fiabilidad a la hora de pagar facturas y qué tipo de relación tiene con aquellos a los que debe dinero. El informe lo usan posibles empleadores, propietarios de vivienda (caseros), agencias del gobierno, compañías de seguros y todos aquellos a los que pueda pedir un préstamo, como bancos y empresas de tarjetas de crédito. Su reporte incluye todas sus cuentas de crédito y préstamos, los saldos que contienen y su historial de pago de facturas. Para construir su informe de crédito, debe primero establecer crédito mediante una cuenta de tarjeta de crédito, un préstamo para un coche, o una hipoteca o préstamo para estudiantes. Los dos mayores constructores de crédito son las hipotecas y los préstamos para coches. Su informe de crédito contiene cuatro categorías principales de información: 1. Información Personal: Información que le

Informes públicos: Cualquier tema de carácter público que pueda afectar a su crédito, incluyendo quiebras y juicios legales podrían aparecer en su ficha. La mayoría de la información de carácter público se mantiene en su informe de crédito durante siete años. Su informe de crédito no incluye información sobre sus cuentas de cheques o de ahorros, quiebras de hace más de 10 años, género, raza, religión, tendencia política o historial médico. No obstante, si debe dinero o la manutención de sus hijos, eso sí puede aparecer en el informe y dañar su puntuación de crédito. Su puntuación de crédito se genera por la información en su informe, pero no es parte del informe en sí. Las puntuaciones fluctúan entre 350-900 y debe tener por lo menos una puntuación

de 650 para calificar para una tasa de interés bajo en la mayoría de préstamos y tarjetas de crédito. Uno de los factores más importantes que afectan negativamente a los informes de crédito de los consumidores es la falta de un historial de crédito. En otras palabras, si no ha pedido dinero prestado y no ha establecido un registro de pagos regulares, puede dañar su puntuación de crédito, o puede que no tenga ningún tipo de puntuación de crédito. Esa es una razón por la cual puede ser positivo mantener una cuenta de tarjeta de crédito abierta incluso si ya no usa la tarjeta, de esta forma usted demuestra que mantiene una relación a largo plazo con esa institución. Aunque las tarjetas de crédito son una buena forma para construir su crédito, debe acordarse de pagar el saldo completo cada mes. Eso demostrará que puede controlar su dinero y no acumulará intereses. Asegúrese de obtener una tarjeta sin cargo anual y de no tener más de cinco tarjetas activas en

ningún momento. Existen tres agencias de reporte de crédito principales (Equifax, Experian y Trans Union) y usted puede obtener una copia gratis de su informe de crédito anualmente por parte de cada una de ellas a través del sitio web annualcreditreport.com Debido a que su informe está disponible a través de distintas fuentes, es importante que esté al tanto de la información que incluye sobre usted y su historial financiero. Si detecta errores, debería verificarlos y tomar los pasos necesarios para corregirlos. Su expediente de crédito cambia constantemente, así que es importante que revise su información regularmente.

CÓMO USAR ESTE MANUAL Este manual ha sido escrito en inglés y español para que todos puedan tener acceso a los servicios de salud en el área central de Ohio. This manual has been produced in both English and Spanish so everyone can access the health services in Central Ohio. Bring it with you to your appointments to write notes of health visits. Use it to help organize the medical information you already have for you and your family members. This manual is organized alphabetically by topic and level of service required. Emergency information is listed first under each topic so that you know immedíately who to contact for help, followed by general services and then specialty services. The table of contents can help direct you to your topic of interest. For each listing, we provide the following information: hours of service, services provided, service costs, and whether or not an interpreter is available. Example: Columbus Public Health Sexual Health Clinic 240 Parsons Ave., 2nd Floor, Rm204A 645-7772 First come, first serve. Hours: M,Th,F 7:15AM - 3:30PM T 10:45AM - 7:00PM W 7:15AM - 12NOON Services: Pap smears, sexual transmitted disease (STD) testing, HIV testing and Counseling Cost: Medicare, Medicaid, Caresource accepted. Sliding fee-scale for all others. $15 additional cost for Pap smear. Both regular HIV tests (results in about 10 days) and “Oraquick” finger stick rapid HIV test (results in about 30min) are free. $50 for a herpes blood test. Treatment is free. No additional cost for consult. NOTE: Prices subject to change, depending on available funding. Interpreter: Available upon request. The doctor speaks Spanish. Hours: Hours of operation are abbreviated as: Monday (M), Tuesday (T),

Wednesday (W), Thursday (Th), Friday (F), Saturday (Sat), and Sunday (Sun) for the days of the week, followed by the open hours of service for the facility. On occasion, both the general business hours and emergency hours are posted. Some providers allow for walkin visits, but most require appointments. Services: The services listed are a summary of what the health care provider offers to the community. It may be necessary to call and ask if there is a specific service you need. Cost: The cost listed for the service may range from minimum costs (i.e., please bring $10 to the visit), to Medicaid, sliding fee scales, no cost/free, or costs that vary by service. If you are unsure about how much an exam, procedure, or test might cost, and it is not listed in this book, then please check in advance of your appointment with the provider. Interpreterr: Many organizations provide an interpreter free of charge for their services, but it may be limited to specific days of the week or hours of the day. Some health providers have bilingual staff while others only have interpretive services on request. To ensure that you have language support for your appointment, notify the provider when scheduling the appointment that you need an interpreter. It may not be possible to find an interpreter at the last minute when you show up for your appointment. If a health provider does not have interpretive services at this time (when this manual was published), then you might want to bring someone with you to help interpret potentially difficult or sensitive information. You may also want to call the health provider in several months to see if interpretive services have changed (i.e., are now offered).

CÓMO DISTINGUIR ENTRE EMERGENCIAS, “URGENT CARE,” Y CUIDADO BÁSICO Emergencias: Para accidentes y enfermedades que necesitan atención inmedíata y que ponen en peligro la vida de la persona, como dolor en el pecho, dificultad para respirar, hemorragia incontrolable, parálisis o debilidad de un lado del cuerpo, o dolor muy fuerte en el abdomen. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPOINTMENTS The health care provider will expect you to bring information with you to each appointment to ensure adequate care as well as determine the sliding fee scale (i.e., how much you pay for services). Below is a list that you should gather and keep in a safe place. This way you will be prepared for any health service visit. Some providers may require additional information not listed below. Please ask the person scheduling your appointment what information is required. For yourself and family members: Full Name (first, middle and last names) Date of Birth Photo identification (drivers license, ID card, passport, Green Card, Mexican iden-

tification) o Information about any allergies to medications or foods List of vaccinations and dates received Social security number or passport or green card information if available. DO NOT USE FALSE DOCUMENTS Insurance information (if available) Eyeglasses or contacts (for vision appointments) Residential information (some providers request copies of gas, water or electric bills, or proof of mortgage or rental receipt in the city of Columbus) Check stub from most recent paycheck to verify income.

HOW TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN EMERGENCIES, “URGENT CARE,” AND PRIMARY CARE Emergency care: for accidents and illness that need immedíate attention and may be life threatening, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, one-sided paralysis or weakness, or severe abdominal pain. CALL '911' TO GET HELP IMMEDIATELY. You will be taken to the nearest emergency department. Urgent care: for accidents and illnesses that need attention that day, but are not life- threatening, such as brokenbones and ear infections. Some hospitals have both an urgent care and an emergency department. Primary care: for regular illness and prevention check-ups for chronic or acute

conditions that need on-going care, are not life-threatening, and do not require attention that day. Everybody should have a primary care physician and get regular medical attention. Unnecessary trips to the ER and Urgent Care can be avoided with regular care. Emergency care can be quite expensive, even if you apply for and qualify for financial aid. H-CAP or Charity Care only pays for the hospital related costs. The physicians portion of the bill will not be covered and can be hundreds of dollars. Only use the emergency room for emergencies, for which AEMA may pay for your medical care.

HCAP All hospitals must provide free hospital services to patients with incomes at or below the federal poverty level. The Hospital Care Assurance Program (HCAP) covers bills for all necessary hospital services, both inpatient and outpatient. HCAP does not cover the doctor's bills or x-rays. To receive HCAP, you must live in Ohio. Your immigration status doesn't matter. To get HCAP, you must fill out a simple application and give it to the hospita's financial assistance department.

HOSPITAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS Even if your income is too high for HCAP, hospitals have financial assistance programs. Please talk to a financial aid counselor about reducing or discounting your bill or setting up payment arrangements.

AEMA Alien Emergency Medical Assistance (AEMA) pays for serious emergency medical care for non-citizens, including: childbirth, sudden serious illness (such as heart attack), or serious injury like a broken arm. AEMA covers all medical bills, including

doctors and tests. To get AEMA, you must live in Ohio, and meet the financial requirements of Medicaid. You do not have to show satisfactory immigration status You do not have to show a social security number.
