TopDentists lists dentists and specialists who have been chosen through an exhaustive survey in which thousands of the nation’s dental professionals confidentially

evaluate their professional peers. No payment is required to be selected, nor is payment accepted in exchange for selection. The nomination pool for topDentists consists of dentists and specialists that are current members of the American Dental Association and other dental societies. General dentists were asked to vote on nominees that are listed as specialists. Specialists are asked to vote only on nominees that are listed as general dentists.
Voting practitioners are also given an opportunity to offer more detailed comments on nominees and to provide additional nominations. Voting professionals are provided the following criteria for determining if a nominee should be listed: years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients and physical results. All votes and comments are solicited with a guarantee of confidentiality. Once the decisions have been finalized, the included dentists are
checked against state dental boards for disciplinary actions to make sure they have an active license and are in good standing with the board. Then letters of congratulations are sent to all the listed dentists. Of course, there are many fine dentists who are not included in this representative list. It is intended as a sampling of the great body of talent in the field of dentistry in Ohio. A dentist’s inclusion on our list is based on the subjective judgments of his or her fellow dentists.

VADHI OHIO FAMILY DENTAL procedure so she can offer the service even when Urell isn’t in the office. All of this, Vadhi says, is part of a larger effort to ensure that patients are able to have their needs met right there, in her office, to help reduce anxiety around dental visits. In-office services include all general dentistry, composite fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, implant placement and restoration, veneers, sinus and osseous surgery, dentures, whitening, CEREC crowns, Invisalign and more. Regardless of the service, Vadhi is careful to meet patients where they are, giving them the additional explanations and comforts they need to feel relaxed. “She really walks them through everything,” says operations manager Jane Meng. “Sometimes a warm blanket helps, or a weighted blanket. We have little stuffed animals and stress balls that they can hold in their hands.” Each patient has a different preference, Vadhi says, and staff make a point to remember it. New to the team is Dr. Hamza Dodo, who joined the practice this summer after a monthslong search to replace Dr. Penny Dietz, who retired in early March. “We’ve been looking for a dentist that has the same philosophy as Dr. Vadhi, and we found one in Dr. Dodo,” Meng says. At the end of the day, Vadhi says, her practice isn’t about promoting the latest and greatest technologies—though they do offer topof-the-line services and equipment. “We want our patients to come here knowing that we will care for them in a manner that we would want for ourselves,” she explains. “We are here to deliver exceptional family dentistry, from doctors and staff that understand and care about them.”

At the East Side office of Vadhi Ohio Family Dental, you’re not a patient—you’re family. From a warm greeting when you arrive to a full-service roster of friendly, compassionate dentists, every experience at Dr. Prashanthi Vadhi’s practice is meant to be a comfortable one. “I am committed to providing excellent dental care blended with compassion,” Vadhi says. “I want to provide the most appropriate care possible while still taking into account my patients’ wants and needs.” Those patient desires often drive Vadhi’s continuing education, allowing her to provide comprehensive services under one roof. That began years ago, when a patient asked Vadhi for the Invisalign tooth-straightening system, adding that they didn’t want to be referred out to another office for the service. “I was trained in school, I got licensed for it then, but I didn’t practice after dental school,” Vadhi remembers. “Once a patient was asking for it, I decided to get trained again and I started offering Invisalign.” Today, the latest step in Vadhi’s continuing education to provide comprehensive care comes in the form of Digital Smile Design. She’s currently training in the technique that uses digital photography to help dentists plan patients’ treatment virtually and even show a rendering of the eventual result. “You should see how happy the patients are when they see it; they get tears in their eyes,” Vadhi says. She’s also learning hand skills to perform sinus surgery, which helps in the implant process. Dr. Jerry Urell, another dentist in her practice, also places implants and performs sinus surgery, but Vadhi is training in the
