Years 8 & 9

Activities Week 16th to 20th July 2018 This booklet will give you all the information you need to know about Activities Week 2018, an event held every year in July. There is a rich variety of activities at a range of prices; there is something for everyone here. Please note you will be choosing one whole week of activities. It will not be possible to interchange activities from other weeks.

WHAT TO DO Read through the booklet carefully and decide which week of activities appeals to you. At the back of the booklet there is an application and consent form. In the boxes indicated put your top three activity week choices in order of preference, then detach the form. Return the completed form to the box at the college reception office marked “Activities Week. We cannot accept email or other forms of application. Parents should be prepared to make arrangements to have their children collected at the end of each day, if required, as some activities mean students will not be back in time for school buses., Please be aware a first come first served basis does not operate. After the deadline of 16th March student places will be allocated. Please remember that we have to consider all of your three choices as 300 pupils require placements and many of the activities can only accommodate a limited number of pupils Unfortunately the activity numbers are fixed and cannot respond to demand as deposits have to be paid and transport booked well in advance. You need to be flexible and be prepared to do any of your top three activities. It is also very important to be aware that when allocating placements no consideration can be made to friendship groups. Please be prepared to make a selection based upon what you personally want to do. Part of the beauty of Activities Week is meeting and mixing with new people across different year groups and many new friendships are formed during this week. Once you have signed up to and paid the initial deposit this can not be transferred to another activity (deposit is not-refundable).

PAYMENTS Until all pupils are notified of the activity they have been allocated no payment is due. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY PAYMENT WITH THE APPLICATION FORM. A letter will be sent advising which activities have been allocated to your child/children. This letter will contain details of the initial deposit and how further payments can be made. FSM/Pupil premium: Pupils who qualify for Free School Meals or Pupil Premium can apply for financial assistance towards the cost of their activity. Please contact Mrs Deadman at cdeadman@melbournvc.org or by phone 01763 223 400 for further information. Exceptional Funding Support (EFS): If you are not entitled to pupil premium but have financial constraints please contact Caroline Deadman at cdeadman@melbournvc.org.uk or by phone 01763 223 400 for further information.

AT THE TIME OF PRINTING ALL COSTS ARE ESTIMATED AND WILL DEPEND FULLY UPON THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS TAKING PART IN EACH ACTIVITY
