Government releases PLI SOPs to testing agencies

The Union government published the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to the testing agencies. Applicants can submit applications for testing and certification of AAT products (OEMs and components), which will lead to qualification for the incentives. Minister of Heavy Industries (MHI), Mahendra Nath Pandey stated that his ministry is attempting to align itself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and that these Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would not only help achieve that but also help increase the manufacturing base. With this, MHI hopes to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports, resulting in more job opportunities. On September 23, 2021, the MHI notified the PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry in India with a budgetary outlay of Rs.25,938 crore.
