CAMPAIGN REPORT

2017 GivingMatters.com Capital Campaign Report Since 2007, GivingMatters.com has produced an annual Capital Campaign Report to further the program’s mission of informing and enriching philanthropy in Middle Tennessee. The data in this report is compiled from hundreds of responses to a survey distributed to more than 1,500 nonprofits throughout Middle Tennessee, as well as from nonprofit data provided in GivingMatters.com. This report intends to: • announce new campaigns to local funders; • give donors an update on funds raised-to-date in ongoing capital campaigns; • provide information on recently completed campaigns; • share preliminary plans for capital campaigns in the next three years; and • note trends over time in Middle Tennessee. A capital campaign is defined as a fundraising effort beyond annual operating or program budgets, which is focused on the purchase of a permanent asset (land, building, major equipment) or a major renovation project. Endowment campaigns may also be part of a capital campaign. Last year, Middle Tennessee nonprofits self-reported 60 campaigns in process. This year’s report includes details from 59 organizations reporting involvement in current capital campaigns. The number of anticipated capital campaigns reported has increased from last year’s report, to 65 campaigns expected to launch in the next three years, compared to 51 campaigns reported to be in the planning stages last year. GivingMatters.com is an online resource that informs, empowers and enriches charitable giving in Middle Tennessee. GivingMatters.com furthers the cause of philanthropy in our region by promoting nonprofit transparency and putting nonprofit information at the fingertips of donors, volunteers, and community members. GivingMatters.com is an initiative of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and is supported by the following partners: Aladdin Industries Foundation, Inc. AWC Family Foundation Baptist Healing Trust Cal Turner Family Foundation

Funds will be used to purchase property in 2017 for housing, program and commercial space, parking and green space and launch a 3-Year Expansion Project in 2018 to significantly increase the number of young adults for whom Crossroads Campus provides affordable housing, job-training, employment and comprehensive support services. Specfically, it plans to create 20 units of housing for young adults at risk of homelessness. At present, Nashville has only 40 such beds and the majority are reserved for individuals who have housing benefits through extension of foster care. Because Crossroads combines housing with employment through social enterprise, it's able to house young people who do not have housing benefits. Some of the commercial space will be used for social-enterprise initiatives and some will be leased to other businesses willing to provide job-training and employment. It also plans to expand its animal adoptions and humane education programs.
