CAPITAL CAMPAIGN REPORT
2021 GivingMatters.com Capital Campaign Report Since 2007, GivingMatters.com has produced an annual Capital Campaign Report to further the program’s mission of informing and enriching philanthropy in Middle Tennessee. The data in this report is compiled from hundreds of responses to a survey distributed to over 1,900 nonprofits throughout Middle Tennessee, as well as from nonprofit data provided in GivingMatters.com. This report intends to: announce new campaigns to local funders; give donors an update on funds raised-to-date in ongoing capital campaigns; provide information on recently completed campaigns; share preliminary plans for capital campaigns in the next three years; and note trends over time in Middle Tennessee. A capital campaign is defined as a fundraising effort beyond annual operating or program budgets, which is focused on the purchase of a permanent asset (land, building, major equipment) or a major renovation project. Endowment campaigns may also be part of a capital campaign. This year’s report includes details from 39 organizations that self-reported involvement in current capital campaigns, as well as how much was raised in 8 campaigns that were completed in 2020. Additionally, there are 51 campaigns that are expected to be launched in the next three years. GivingMatters.com is an online resource that informs, empowers, and enriches charitable giving in Middle Tennessee. GivingMatters.com furthers the cause of philanthropy in our region by promoting nonprofit transparency and putting nonprofit information at the fingertips of donors, volunteers, and community members. On February 17th at approximately 11 a.m., there was a fire at Trinity Community Commons, located in the historic Trinity United Methodist Church building at 204 East Trinity Lane. The fire was mostly localized in the beloved sanctuary, the most historic part of the building. Fortunately no one was in the facility at the time of the fire and no one was injured, however the damage to the sanctuary was devastating and most of the contents of the building were considered a total loss due to smoke and water damage.
Community Improvement
Though some of the restoration will be covered by insurance, the organization will take this opportunity to modernize the space, install robust A/V and streaming capabilities, add additional restrooms, ADA compliant entrances, and improved outdoor areas with a focus on CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
